People have to be politically active on a local level. Join a party, form your own, do whatever it takes politically. Run as a councillor locally at local elections. You have more power than you relise. Use your community to do it. The middle classes won't help you, the upper classes don't care. Protests are pointless. My Grandson worked hard and passed his 11+ with high grades. He did not get a place in Grammar School because the application of a “pupil premium “. This means kids from disadvantaged families get their 11+ scores enhanced and go first in the queue.

As a teacher I can say without equivocation that boys and girls are very different learners and performers. Girls definitely hold the middle ground while boys are spread across the spectrum. The best boys generally out perform the best girls and there are very very few under performing girls which again boys excel at. Nonetheless, school tends to be oriented around how well girls perform, does not cater much for boys and is filled with female teachers known for their bias in grading. No guesses for which way they lean.

As someone with years of experience who has taught in all-boys, all-girls, and mixed schools I can tell you, without the slightest doubt, that by far the best way of helping girls is to have all-girls schools. Girls do better without having boys around. However, this would mean having all-boys schools, and boys do worse without having girls around.
