It’s flowing down to Grants Pass now. Thanks to our woke city council, every city park is now a campground for junkies. Our local law enforcement is now babysitting the hobos. I’m selling everything I’ve worked so hard for and moving back to Alabama, this is a twilight zone complete with zombies on every corner. That decriminalizing hard drugs really worked out great for Oregon…ya get what you voted for!!!
You realize that they aren't camping right? This isn't a alternative lifetime vacation with the fun of being camping. They don't toast marshmallows after a day of playing in nature. These people have no hope. Medical conditions. No resources so they have to travel long distances to be able to get things they can to survive or go without. They have no where to use the bathroom. They have no place that is truly clean, and insufficient ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We are monsters to not show these people basic compassion and someday you too could be on the streets. Or your parent. Or sibling. Or child. Do you think that you would want them to have the ability to poop somewhere better than a doorstoop?

I supported others the entire time I worked for RCL and made good money until they shipped jobs over seas and fired 1/3 of the workforce overnight.. and still am supporting others I live now in a community with several seniors and others who take care of each others basic needs including roofs overhead, food on the table and taking them in for medical care as needed. What are you doing to help your fellow man since we are justifying our personal altruism?
I suggest you go down there and actually witness what's going on. These addicts are NOT working. I volunteered for a summer, and left disgusted. My opinion WAS of homeless, it rapidly became that of addicts and thieves. @@dreamwithinadreamfilms
Why does this problem exist so much more in West Coast states than other US regions. I'm talking about all the camper vehicles and tents all over sidewalks. Obviously these states like Oregon and Calif have put out the welcome mats to homeless and drugs. It's their own fault all these homeless show up.
West coast states experienced a population boom in the postwar era of the united states and that population boom continued but housing production stagnated to cater to the demands of suburban homeowners who did not want their picturesque neighborhood to have any scary big buildings for people to live in anywhere near it. Thus the existing housing stock rose in price according to very very simple supply and demand laws and eventually the prices rose so high and so quickly due to several surges in migration due to economic booms in the area that the existing residents who were already scraping by had nowhere else to go. It exists everywhere in the US but in the west coast states you see more of it simply because of the scale of the problem. I have lived in 3 cities already and am 20 years old. Without fail I can guide anyone in any city to a homeless encampment if you give me 5 minutes to look at google maps, and 5 minutes to look at a zoning map of the city
I see blocked public sidewalks....that's not allowed. Get the cops out there and garbage trucks and tell them to clean up or it goes into the trash at their expense.
I remember one particular bridge in Seattle, SPD kept hounding one woman with a broken down motorhome. Ultimately SPD towed her vehicle, which was her home and had everything she owned in it. Now that same bridge has been overrun with the most extreme kind of homeless elements and is practically unrecognizable. I was upset that back in 2010 SPD resorted to Gestapo like tactics over one little homeless woman in a motorhome and now will not even lift a finger for virtually the Black Plague of homelessness!
In my opinion people need to mind their business and government needs to do their job right and Kids shouldn't even be at a car shop and if they were they should be parented and it's funny we have homeless crisis everywhere but yet these millions and billions and trillions of dollars are being printed and handed out but not to the ones in need and nobody owns the world or the ground we walk on we are free we are free to roam and live wherever we please. We have laws that are supposed to protect those people and clearly they are not protected and every government official that is not doing their job or protecting or for the people can and will be held accountable for your actions bylaw nobody's above law

Give the homeless a bathroom. You will have less shit on your floor and the poor person who had nowhere to go will have acess to a healthy way to live. What kind of monster can't see that providing options to the hopeless, food to the hungry, and medical attention to the wounded.. these things are marks of civilization. Proof of empathy and compassion and education and organization. No civil society watches its people suffer due to age and infirmity and gets angry at the suffering people while hoarding resources and keeping them in squalor.
They trash them and light them on fire. There are some hopeless, helpless, down and out types mixed in - these arent them. These are the addicts, the criminals, the people who genuinely enjoy living this way and not being held accountable doing this stuff. These are the people from all over the US flocking to a state they know they won't be hassled for breaking laws, hurting people, doing whatever they want because they can hide behind the guise of being down and out homeless in need of compassion and resources. It's a grift and every bleeding heart in the area falls for it - you sacrifice the city and the people who live, work, try to raise families in exchange for a sense of doing something "compassionate". Newsflash: letting innocent people be harmed for fear of looking like the bad guy is not compassionate. Letting these people rot away on the streets, turning the entire city into a cesspool and destroying both the infrastructure and environment, is not compassionate. If you have to: hook them up with resources out of state, send them.places where they can actually get help to get off drugs or get into affordable housing - because leaving them to run wild in the streets, high off their asses and destroying the lives of everyone around them IN ADDITION to themselves is not ok.
There are 1/2 empty Safe Spaces all over town. These addicts cannot stay there because they are high 24/7 and cause trouble. They want DRUGS not a "normal" life. Wake up!
"Because capitalism"... sounds like such a simple argument but it is really just way too generic and short sighted. I would suggest that "bad policies and politicians" is a better argument. Capitalism has enabled a very large portion of the human race to thrive in ways that were once completely unimaginable. The greed and unfair/unchecked practices of capitalism is the part that creates all the dirt. Everything else is quite pleasant and amazing.

@@tvdinner325 do you think its easy to get and maintain a job when your options are either a shelter where you are kicked out at 5:45 am and have to return at 9 pm or else all your shit will be thrown out and you will be too, or on the streets where youre hassled , robbed, raped, and your shit is constantly stolen or thrown away? you are so much closer to being homeless than you think. a mass layoff at a company is all it takes for a single mother whos kid just had an expensive er visit to suddenly not be able to make rent and find herself in her car or on the streets. you need to educate yourself on who homeless people really are. i have spokent o a couple who was staying under the bridge near my work and BOTH of them had full time management jobs at a local retail store but it still wasnt enough to cover their rent increases in suburban grand rapids and the fact their credit had been dinged by a medical bill meant no such luck in finding a new place, especially one with room for two kids, who were staying with friends of the family.
Build more affordable housing, stop giving tons of tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans and build tons of affordable housing, any country that calls itself a free one shouldn't allow homelessness, being dirty and unhealthy isn't a free feeling.
These addicts/thieves will NEVER get a job. Wake up. Most have travelled from other states to enjoy free stuff and the legal use of class A drugs. The "Safe Spaces" that tax payers pay for, are only 50-60% full. They will NOT stay there because they have to remain clean, and no fighting. We also provide FREE re-hab, which they do not attend.
