I've just started to slightly scare my mother. We were watching Graham Norton, and a boxer who is going to the Olympics was talking, and I just said - "She sounds like she's from Northern England". Looked it up, and she was. I'm from California, and have never been to Britain or met many British people, so I think she's wondering how the hell I starting to differentiate where someone is based on their accent. Doctor Who man...And Christopher Eccleston.
He's trying, he needs to do a lot for this role- the accent, the diction, the posture and mannerism but the brilliance of him is that he disguise this as nonchalance
Christian Borle's English accent is absolutely on point, so many Americans trying to do it just do either a bad cockney accent or a slightly posh sounding American accent, there's a reason it's often touted as the most difficult to master for non-natives, so Borle has my utmost respect for his dedication to mastering every nuance. One thing I've yet to see is a perfect regional English accent from an American actor, such as Liverpool, Bristol or Newcastle, now that would be unbelievably impressive, especially the latter.
In a matter of days I've grown to love Christian. He is both extremely talented and a looker. 2:11 Christian looks like a young unkempt Tim Curry when he smiles, freaky, but awesome.
From a musicology perspective, when he sings “so annoyingly hard” the chords go, 1-2-5, treating the dominant as a tonic for a second, while the melody goes, 3-#4-5. This 1-2-5 chord progression and this 3-#4-5 melody is found a lot in Queen songs. You can see a variation of it in Killer Queen. “Just like Marie Antoinette,”
I know that the joke is that he doesn't put in any effort into his writing, but that bit where he's like "you write down a word but it's not the right word" is so freaking realistic. Also he went from Legally Blonde to THIS? Damn. That's range.
Christian Borle is the only American I know of that can actually do a decent Yorkshire accent. His range of acting is incredible and I adore him for it
I don't know if you're talking about this role or not, but just in case you are - he is not doing a yorkshire accent lol. It's a decent English accent but not a Yorkshire specific one, more generic London!
@@oliverharris60 yea i know lmao i don’t think it’s in this video but at some point in the show shakespeare disguises himself as a yorkshireman and he’s pretty good at doing the accent haha
Anna G could you imagine seeing him in public? I think we would scare him lol. We’d all be like “HIT ME RIGHT IN THE FACE I AM BEGGING YOU” then cling to him like baby koalas 🐨
As a British person.. it freaks me out how good his British accent is!?! Idk if it's because I'm used to the bad accents that you usually get on Broadway or not but I still cannot believe that that's Christian borle speaking
This is my first time seeing anything from sr, and when i saw christian i literally started crying because of his clothes and voice. Its like the middle of the night somebody send help why am i crying. Im tired and probably high
Then you end up with the people who think it’s a from tiktok, or the people who shove themself into any theatre thing because they’ve listened to like half of the beetlejuice soundtrack. Like, beetlejuice, six, DEH, Heathers, and Hamilton, aren’t the only shows. I once made a comment that I preferred Falsettos over Beetlejuice, and about 3 different people started calling me insane for thinking that. Like, there is a way to like things, over other things.
That one dancer (if you watch the dancers, you know which one I’m talking about) puts so much snark into his facial expressions and it’s my favorite part of the video 🤣🤣
And it worked remarkably well, because they changed the rhyme from "take a piss // piece of this" to "take a pee // piece of me". Genius, I say! Genius!
Oh hello, Christian Borle! I always knew he was an attractive guy...he's also incredibly talented and seems like a lovely person. Then I saw this and...DAMN.
