Weekend was great. First one being completely alone with my baby as wife at work and mother in law on holiday. It's been great but dealing with things more frightening than even your most gruesome and macabre tales... nappies that look like cthulhu sneezed in them, the futility of trying to reason with a newborn baby about drinking just a little bit more milk, and the cyclical messiness of time, seeing myself in my son and in my father all at once. Will save this story as a treat / reward for getting through this week. Hopefully. Wish me luck.
This channel has ruined other creepy pasta channels for me. The quality of different voice actors and sound effects is incredible. I tend to zone out when I listen to other channels now. Well done sir. Keep it up!
I used to listen to about 8 other channels until i found this in 2018 and now i only listen to his videos, every other channel honestly pales in comparison he just sets the most amazing atmospheres and has me hooked, i have accidentally zoned out for 5 minutes during a 2 hour video and been happy to restart the video for another chance to hear it
This sort of person has to keep emotional detachment. Same reason he said rodents, felines & canines. Cats, dogs & mice have emotional conatations. Absolutely cannot allow himself to feel anything for his victims BUT his colleagues must be innocent. If they are guilty, so is he and that CANNOT be allowed.
@@CarrieJessNah i think the other guy was talking about Ketterman’s mind. Ketterman wants to think hes moral, so therefore all of his colleagues are - and by using clinical terminology, he’s trying to dissociate. Hes lying about the innocent part, even to himself - or maybe hes gone mad and actually believes it
I really like your use of audio and the way your creating a genuine community of writers and voiceactors all passionate for their craft! Thank you for such consistent uploading
My brain was juggling the dichotomy of the "monsters" being simultaneously a vicious threat and vulnerable together. Like they were not sturdy but they also did not just give up with serious injuries. Compelled to hunt and fight in spite of their own frailty of biology. A mindless compulsion. Unsettling. And picturing the rescued scientist after his "monsterization" still having enough brain left to speak to them like that, gruesome.
Thanks for narrating my story! Like many people have already said, the sound design in this was phenomenal. I appreciate you turning it into such a visceral listening experience and the different voice actors made it even more harrowing!
I definitely get your comment about more action themed horror stories in how they tend to not be as scary. One of my favorite podcasts called "we're alive" managed to handle that well. Similar to this story, there's this viceral fear in the depiction of the action that leaves you on the edge of your seat waiting to see who's gonna win. If you haven't heard we're alive i highly recommend it!
Dark, I loved the rusty metal sounds to slipped in. It sounded so organic, like a lot of times you'll catch an echo as it the sound bounces around the room OR it is a recording of a recording, but not your work, it is always crisp. Thanks for always making your work into something people can sink into rather than just panting a Pretty 'word picture'.
Hopefully I caught this early enough to be seen! Just want to say that I adore your content. Every story you choose to read is so interesting and engaging and your love for this genre really shines through. The voicework, sound design and music you do really makes your content feel a cut above a lot of the other creators I'm familiar with. I used to sleep to your stories, but now I choose to listen to them at times when I can give them my full attention, because they're just so gripping. Keep up the good work and thank you for delivering these stories to us
Guess the janitor tried to leave another flat head screw loose. In all seriousness this was another amazing story by you, it gave me flashbacks to a book series called demonata by Darren Shan. If you ever go full audiobook reading I'd highly recommend those
Man, I swore I had heard a very similar creepypasta in the past- a team, whether it be evac or assault, trapped in some bunker or lab with a bunch of creatures, characters getting picked off one by one, creatures getting destroyed in the melee, and the ending was the complete opposite; something about running out of supplies, or expending all ammunition.. and, at the end, some kind of scratching at the door they were behind, sort of insinuating there were more creatures and there was no way out. I very much enjoyed this one, especially since some characters got out, but whatever the other one was, it was harrowing; the idea they fought so hard, for days, only to eventually get cornered and run dry on supplies.
This is my first time making a comment, but i finally have to come out of the dark and say it… you are literally the best story teller ever! Ive been tuning in for a few months now, and i always listen here at work to help get through the miserable day of precision machining for areospace. The work is grimm, but the stories are grimmer, and for that i salute you! Ps. You have the best voice as well. Mr. Creeps is pretty good too. As for the Jordan Grupe, not so much, but mucho gracias Mr. Dark. This one was absolutely great, as always
checkout Dannys Story by Chilling Tales. And google the Whistlers, itsnot on yt anymore, but its on podcast sites. two best pastas ever, and ive heard thousands
I love when RomNex appears in your narrations! You two are my favourite creepypasta narrators and I listen to each and every video you post up here 🧡🧡🧡 btw great work with the sounds, absolutely loved it! 👌🏻
@@Darksomnium I hate to presume but, given how much she's appeared in your narrations, and a lot of the time (not counting this time, of course) she's played the role of an SO of your character...are you two together IRL?
Excellent story as always. I've been enjoying the philosophical or smart horror stories that have been featured. But I have to say I've been itching for a good old-fashioned creature feature like this. Definitely inspired by The Thing, Event Horizon, and Resident Evil, amongst others. Always quality stuff
Definitely agree this was the perfect union of action and horror! Loved that the soldiers weren't just names to forget while the bodies pile up, very well written and performed!! Excellent job from all!! This was terrifying and presents an existential crisis. I always like when you can sympathize to some degree with the villains! Amazing job!!!
Your sound work is top tier. All the little additions of creaking along with the phenomenal voice work. Made this sound like you were listening to a movie. Also the echo effect made it feel like you were in the cave. Great job as always
I really liked this story as the action and horror are both in satisfying amounts, the body horror also made me cringe a few time whilst listening the descriptions combined with the excellent sound design really brought the story to life and made it scary. the creatures were genuinely terrifying and i loved the cast, especially dusk light radio!! i see the comparison to burger entry's to
I usually prefer short scary stories, however you are so good at bringing in theatrical effects to your story telling that I can actually stay engaged despite the length. Well done sir!
That was one of my top favorite stories period. When the fight scenes happened I was getting hyped up by that music. Something about it was just so violent and primal while being so simple. It’s also different in terms of action packed horror stories because unlike the majority of others… this is really well written. One of my favorite lines was “I was still smiling when the creature ripped his throat out.” It’s also nice seeing the good guys being lethal people who aren’t at each others throats. Because fighting with each other is always an unwelcomed cliched for me
Man, I'm obsessed with your sound work as always. I never realized how integral the music and sound work is to horror readings until I tried listening to ebooks without your unique style. It's SO immersive as always, especially with headphones working a later shift. No one else I'd rather get unsettled listening to 💀
I have to say, the quality and immersion with all the sound effects and passion you put into your lines is amazing. Thank you for your good work, and I look forward to your future content too
The detailed motion description, sheer violence, gore and ferocity of the language is so enjoyable and the next most aggressive story to Chrome Sunset. Yet the constant death reminds me about their mortality unlike Secret Government Prison and the glass cannon creatures they are going up against really adds the fear factor. I love this story so much! And of course, the talented narrations that give all the characters their personality and voices that bring out their emotions are simply *chefs kiss* well done to all, well done to all indeed!
Ron, your channel, as well as Rom’s, Stone’s, Dr C’s, and MCP’s are absolutely top notch! Add to that Joel, CGS, and Darkness Prevails, and I have been spoiled! Thank you, all, for providing me with ‘sleep videos’ that I don’t always fall asleep to, because the stories pull me right in!
I haven’t even listened to this yet but these stories are so immersive omg. Listening to this on a rainy day with raindrops hitting the window sitting comfortable with coffee would be heavenly
I'm always excited to see an upload from you. Your story narrations are arguably one of the best ones on youtube! I mean that with 100% sincerity. Keep up the *amazing* work bud!
Somnium holy hell man. From the descriptions of the gore and gross making me gag to the end fight narration making me teary eyed from genuinely not knowing what was gonna happen you and everyone else who was on this did absolutely great
Hi dark!! I'm early today so just wanted to leave this comment, Your videos are the best!! you've made it so I cannot listen to any other creepy pasta video with your clear crisp audio and sound effects!! Also id love to see you cover a no sleep story "I'm a monster created by the government" I heard it a while back and I'd love to hear it with your audio quality!! You're the best! Love from India!!
I've heard this story once before a couple years ago but I can't remember who did it but I will say that the job you did on this was by far a million times better and more suspenseful and other awesome work man keep it up!
Would just like to thank this channel, it's creator and narrator, been binge listening to your content for almost 3 weeks now while working, i must say, my productivity doubled. Kudos man, 🎉
These types of stories are my favourite. Action theme creeps are the most exiting for me. It wasnt scary like "ted's cave" but it kept up the pace at both Action and scares. I loved the way Keys always kept her mind together and how the end of the Story ended well but still slightly sad, to keep this sinister Tone. The sounds you User were special to say the least and the narration was amazing as always!
I just finished listening to this and I gotta say, I really enjoyed it. It was really well written, had a good start that got into what the threat and problem was pretty quickly, in a good way. And the narration and sounds were really good. And voice acting was really good as usual. And thank you for doing the work you do while putting so much effort into it. I really appreciate it, I’m kinda going through a big change in my life right now, and your efforts really encourage and inspire me, thank you.
You're voice is so soothing. My anxiety has been bad since my kid started school, and listening to your videos is one of the few things that actually calm and distract me. Thank you for being you dude!
Just started the story while I work and I'm very excited for the next hour and thirteen minutes. Thank you for the time you take to bring these stories to life. There are many out there reading these stories, but there is only one Dark Somnium. You truly stand above all of the rest
I love your videos, they get me through the work day really fast and hella entertained, i appreciate everything you and thank you for posting quality content!!!
Really enjoyed this one. The sound effects were off the charts, really made it feel visceral. The description of the monsters and reminded me of I Am Legend. Hats off to you my friend
I love how you manage to turn text based stories into something so genuinely engrossing! It's really awesome, how you include other great creepypasta narrators and voice actors, who voice the different characters in the stories. Also, while the action is booming in stories like these, there's always your soothing or at other times spinechilling narration, meanwhile sounds and exclamations magnify the action-packed background, perfect for creating a vivid image in our minds of everything that's happening! I just seriously love it so much, because this has really given me a greater appreciation for storytelling and 'audio-book-esque-things'. Where I used to read a lotta high fantasy books before, because of the detailed images it would create for me. I don't often write comments like this, but I think almost everyone can agree, that what you create is unique and stunning, and we support everything you do, from narration to your community! :D
I have been watching for about 6-5 years now and this will probably be my absolute most favorite story ever. Your work is amazing and I can’t even listen to other horror channels since you’ve spoiled us so much lmao.
Great story, nice blend of creepy and action. Reminded me of Doom. Excellent narration as well, and I love the way you blend the music with the atmosphere of the story, really draws you in. Thanks for the excellent listen!
I havent been commenting much lately since ive been pretty busy but I'd just like to say that im seriously grateful for the work you put into these, i have trouble focusing but these stories help me pretty damn well, just wanted to say thank you. Cheers ronnie B)
OMG I HOPE IM NOT LATE AND YOU READ THIS COMMENT I've been watching your videos at night to help me with my insomnia for a while now I've watched or listened to on Spotify almost every video of yours As a student majoring in physics and chem I just wanted to thank you for putting out such quality content for free
I watch your videos as often as I can, I love that you make videos that are both a little shorter form and some that are hours long, I’ve been watching you since I think at least 2018, I believe the first video i watched was one of the tales from the gas station parts and I was immediately hooked, i used to watch about 8 creators who all make similar content, but now i eagerly await your uploads, i started watching to help me focus on cleaning the house, you’ve helped me get a lot done, and I love every video you make, I have yet to find a story that hasn’t grabbed my attention, thank you for all of your hard work and I appreciate the effort you have put forth, but please don’t burn yourself out, I have loved to watch you, your work, and your channel grow and become what it is today, and I can’t even imagine how far you’ll go, anyways, I’ve got to get back to listening while i’m at work, thank you, love your work
The military wouldn't send a "rescue" team in. It'd be a tactical team. With security clearance and fully briefed on potential outcomes. Common sense is the main thing lacking in amateur authors.
The writing on this story is decent. Very few mistakes. The usual ones like using "me" instead of "I" and putting me or I before others (me and Tom is incorrect, it is Tom and me). That is basic grammar. The writing also suffered from fatigue. The writer started off being descriptive and concise to dropping the detail descriptions towards the end. The vocabulary is limited putting it at a teen level. There were a significant amount of continuity errors in the story. It is my hope that this individual never had to spend any time in MOPP gear but there is a few things you should know. If the military is sending in a rescue crew where there is chemical or biological agents at play they are going to be in MOPP 4 gear (based of the description of the information the writer told us the rescue team had). The writer goes on to mention that one of the character's voice was muffled by their suit. If this was a military operation then all the members of the unit would be suited up. From experience I can tell you when you wear MOPP 4 gear you do not smell the surroundings. Blood, rotting bodies, chemicals, vehicle exhaust, none of it makes it through. All the descriptions of the main character smelling the scent of the blood and chemicals would not be possible unless the suit was broken. Secondly you do not secure a biological weapons facility with 5 people and a handful of small arms of which most do not seem to be trained to use. Half way through the story the characters seem to forget that they are there to secure the site according to their orders given at the beginning of the story. Lastly if this was a location that required the use of a very small lightly armed force, the fact there was no QRF response after 2 days seems rather improbable given the products the facility was making. All that being said, these are all the same mistakes that Hollywood makes in their movies too. Reality is often too bleak and miserable to be considered entertaining. That being said there are easy work agrounds for most of these problems. Writing 7/10 Story 4/10 The narration was spot on. I did not notic any mistakes with your narration this time (such as the basketball bat in a previous story). I will say that your sound production is spot on. As i have said before I am not knowledgeable in such areas but your sounds really bring a lot of life to the story. Narration: 9/10
The military being incompetent and nonsensical tracks with my experience of the military. Our operating manual can't even agree if the type of unit I should serve in wartime should have 4 or 6 members. It doesn't outline how we should be able to execute a mission that's fundamentally impossible according to the same operating manual.
@paranoiaproductions1221 there is a lot of truth to that, but if you look at the SOG and even the small SF groups, they seem to be on the level. These people in the story probably aren't going to be your entry level crayon eaters.
Your stories are always well selected well narrated but it’s those home made compositions that you make that give me flashbacks to when I first heard one of the first creepy pasta narrations on RU-vid back in 2011 or so. It’s insane how talented you are at your craft. It’s beautiful art. My memories are within the Melodies
