Yep, I love how even though those children were poor they still had respect and integrity, as we know some children act out, become bullies, lose self respect etc. etc. This is the way that it is supposed to be that is why those children got blessed, I love the message that this cartoon radiates.

I haven't seen this since I was a little kid and we had a VHS of all old and classic cartoons. It definitely hits differently as an adult with kids than it did when I was the kid. I managed to hold back the tears when the mom started crying because that's all the food there was, but I lost that composure when they pulled up their little blankets and they were so riddled with holes that they didn't even cover their little bodies. 😭

It's wild how a child can see the best in everything. I seen this as a child and just thought It was a fun cartoon. But watching it as a 39 year old I see the truth to this and honest to God it's bringing tears to my eyes. I don't know wether I'd rather be ignorant to such things like I was as a child or to feel and known how it truly is. The prospect of ignorance is only phesable in ignorance alone for once one becomes aware there is nothing that can remove that awareness. Just happy to be alive. God Bless you all!!

I first watched this when I was 4, and I vividly remembered key details of it. So when I was bored one day I looked it up and found it. Brings back memories of how positive and innocent I was for only remembering the dream portion 😊. But at the same time, it’s horribly sad! This is a sad reality for a vast majority of people worldwide.

Where a person is when he is old, he may remember his situation when he was the age of children. If he was 60, 70, 80, or 90 years old, he must remember when he was a child. Children’s lives are wonderful and beautiful.❤

I watched this whole thing through. My head instantly goes to Grimm's darker versions. When the Kids go to sleep, they die due to malnourishment. Their bodies float up to heaven, and when they wake up, they see a feast. Somewhere in Dreamland seems to me a darker version, and Parallels the story of The Little Match Girl. My mind sees this story interpretation through Grimms and Perrault's lens.

Thank you so much for sharing this oldie but goodie! My sister and I had a VHS tape (we’re 80s kids) with this and a handful of other classic cartoons on it and watched it all the time! The scene showing the mom crying after her son said he was still hungry AND him comforting her after seeing her reaction got me emotional as a little kid and hits another level now that I’m a mom of three. What a beautiful message - definitely showing this to my kiddos today!

I seriously doubt Popeye, or really even *BLUTO* would _ever_ leave Olive Oyl in such dire circumstances intentionally. They're better than that. He may have been killed by the Sea hag, who then stole all the wealth and posessions he left behind for his family in case he died.

How our society is corrupt that with so much abundance on this earth, there are those who have to live in such a way. This cartoon is not fictional there are many who live this way. The sad part is that the earth could be a paradise an abundant garden producing so much food that there is no shortage of food across the world but the ignorance of the people, this is the result.
