My husband and I were listening to this music whilst driving home in our car and he said I want this music played at my funeral. Little did we know 18months later my husband passed and I had it played as his coffin entered the church as requested. We were married 60 wonderful years and had our Diamond wedding anniversary and 6 months later this music was played as he requested. The love of my life till we meet again darling somewhere in time 💜
My husband loved this movie. I lost him three years ago; if I had played this at his funeral I would have completely lost it….At least at home I can cry in private.
The movie, it's' story, characters, and all the glimpses of sweet memories of the audience folks turn me into sobbing. I'm literally crying, remembering my beloved wife, who quit this earthly journey in 2018. I cannot meet her again by any time travel machine, but we will definitely be united in our eternal life.
Christopher Reever.
Not it's not forgotten or underated . One of the best romance movies of all . However the word underrated is overly and highly abused on RU-vid comment sections .
i want to go back in time to when as a young lad a met a girl ''Ruth'' who i spent a lot of time with , we talked constantly about everything BUT i was only young and did not understand that i loved her so much , my heart now at 76 years old breaks whenever i think of her, i still love her and would love to tell her so
I'm so sorry 😞 😢I can't imagine that kind of pain. I'm only 36 and I haven't found love yet. All I ever wanted was to find love and start a family. I'm relatively young but I need to hurry because I'm getting older and I want to experience love while I'm still young. Did you ever get married? Please tell me you have
I am 54 Year old now and saw this movie when I was in early 20s. It's etched in my mind and I can relate to it with all the heartbreaks that life has thrown at me. But what a movie for all times!
My wife passed away this year.... we spent our honeymoon at The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in 1984... this brings back such wonderful memories....rest in peace my dear.................
To the sweet memories of my wife Darlene that passed away November 27,2014. This was our special movie. As my tears roll down my face in 2019. I miss you my darling...
I'm 54 and my husband is 75. I have loved him since I was 16. We are truly a love story. I dont know how I will make it without him. I hope our children who are in their 30s will know the love we had. I'm in tears right now and not wanting to go through that pain. Almost 40 years together.
Carolyn, I'm so happy for you, one day that will be sad, but today is a bless (and you know what you have) in the future, it'll be a precious gift, the memories. I'm in my 20's and I hope that, one day, I have that story (if is with my actual girlfriend, it would be really nice)
I’m a die hard Christopher Reeves fan I watched Superman as a kid in the 80’s and found this gem with my wife it’s a beautiful story true love exist RIP Chris he’s my favorite actor! I love this movie!
There's something beyond beautiful seeing a grown man in love. Many men cover it up, as if they're ashamed to show that one emotion God gives us to fall in love with the perfect girl. This is the one movie that shows a man's tender side. Christopher Reeve was able to convey it through his eyes, facial expressions and body mannerisms of a man hopelessly in love with his perfect woman. And let's be honest, Jane Seymour was never more beautiful than in Somewhere in Time. I'm glad many others love this movie as I do. Somewhere in Time is a gorgeous love story from a man's point of view of falling in love without shame. Like all love stories, one has to go first. Seeing Christopher Reeve grieve and dying from love is so poignant and heartbreaking. Yet more beautiful, even death couldn't separate them. Both of them together in Heaven, their love will be forever and in love forever. I like to think it's really like that in Heaven.
My dad passed away yesterday and now I'm making a playlist with all the songs he loved and I remember him by. This is one of them. Thank you dad for showing me the greatest artists of all times. Loved, missed and never forgotten 🤘🔥❤
Hi, i'm very sorry for the loss. May his soul be blessed with eternal joy. I'm also sorry for taking your time, yet please let me write this: these are satanic signs✌🖖🤙🤟🤘👌(means 66 6), ☮ (broken cross). Please do not use them. All the best for you😊
I saw this movie as a very young girl. I knew then and I know now love like this is very rare. Hold on to it if you find it. I was lucky enough to have this in my life. I love you with all my heart Chris!
You've become jaded like most of us. But if you truly believe in love, this type of rare love still exist. I thought after my second divorce, I was done but a young lady reminded me that love is ageless and timeless.
My husband passed away 25 years ago and I still miss him as much today as I did then . But I am so blessed because I can say I had genuine and true love once in this life . I've been blessed and will cherish our memories the rest of my life . Rest in sweet peace Ron ....until we meet again 🌹
Such heart felt beautiful words. One day you will meet him again, and it will be as you never parted. I wish I had found love like you did, sadly too late for me. Bless you.
This was one of the first movies my wife and I ever saw together. It moved us so much. My love passed away this year and I miss her so much. This brings back that time of pure young love. God it hurts
Wow hasn't time traveled one minute you are a 19year young person then seen many things and know in your better years know that's like somewhere in time well I hope you have had a great adventure and have you had a great time going threw life I am know in my 60ees to and life has been one to
A beautiful movie, I saw it for the first time a very long time ago and bought it a few years ago. The music is beautiful. . . . a very romantic and touching movie. . . . sigh ❤
Today was the first time I saw this movie and I loved it. I am 19 years old and I hope that when I am 60 years old I still remember this beautiful movie like you do. Sorry my English, but music and emotions have no languages.
There are no words to describe how this music and movie make me feel whenever I see or hear it.....I met my soulmate on a date seeing this movie together....we both fell in love with it as did with her.....the happiest year's of my life....she passed away several years ago and I play this music all the time.....like Christopher Reeve in the movie, my heart is forever broken..... I have always loved you and I always will, forever thine, forever mine, forever ours my love.... somewhere in time I will find you again..... your forever love❤️❤️❤️
Honey, I mean this in the kindliest, most gentle way. 💕 I promise, promise you will be together again. I can guarantee that she is waiting for you in Heaven. At last, no more separation, only freedom is ahead. 💕💕
How this movie was criticised is beyond me! As a tough old war veteran, I found this the most moving, heartbreaking but hopeful movie ever made. I have seen this at least 11 times and she tears with every one I have watched.
I cant begin to guess how many times I've watched this movie....cry every single time...many years have gone by since I last saw it, and this video brought me all the emotion again....after all these years....love it
Him seeing for the first time the picture on the wall. A girl with the perfect gaze, the loveliest reserved smile only to realize that the perfect gaze was because she was looking at him.
💜😢That is my absolute favorite part!! Imagine seeing a photo of someone that looks & feels so familiar 2 you, but you just don't know why. A photo which radiates so much love & emotion, & then come 2 realize that it was your soulmate who gave you the watch 8 years ago while she pleaded "Come Back to Me...."💖 Gets me every time.😭
Favorite movie ever!! It was unique it was emotional, it moved us all in so many emotions. No nudity no fowl language just a brilliant movie based on a incredible love story. ❤️
John Barry - a talented English composer was inspired by S V Rachmaninoff - the great Russian composer .The music is brilliant , wonderful and the movie- too . 🎇
i knoww right! if they made a prequel after this movie with Jane to show us how elise endured the heartache throughout the years without him and finally found him again without even meeting him till that fateful night again one last time when she gave the pocket watch an died
And yet, ssnarashi, they met in the afterlife as though not a moment was lost. Pedro, I will immediately begin looking for that prequel. Never knew it was made. Thanks.
He lived two short lifetimes, both tragic because he lost her twice. On the other hand, she lived a long lonely life without him. Both very sad from any perspective.
Yeap. He was a beautiful man. I fell in love with Christopher Reeve when he starred in Superman. I was 13 years old and watched it several times at the theater. I was in love. I had posters of him, Superman soundtrack, and People Magazine with his face on the cover and in costume to announce his film, Superman. Christopher was a gorgeous man. ❤💟💞
His name has changed to Reeve no s in it anymore. Check out Mandela Effect... GOD BLESS... SEE my RU-vid channel and comment if you have questions there.
My husband showed me this movie shortly after we married in 2015 and it has held such a special place in my heart that love 💞has no end truly. I eventually learned to play this song by ear on the piano and thought to surprise him with it, one day he walked in from our garden with a bouquet of roses and irises we planted when we moved in to our 1925 Craftsman, and heard me softly playing this on my 1895 Victorian Starr upright piano. He had no idea I had been learning it, I then heard him sniff so I turned and saw him crying. He put the flowers in a vase and put them on the piano next to an oval photo frame of us holding hands with a rose🌹 clasped between our hands. This song played at our vow renewal 3 years later. Come September 14, 2021 we celebrate 6 years married and will continue to do so as long as we can :)
@@joyceconnolly1065 thank you :) we've been through so much, especially during this pandemic. As CNA's we've lost residents so near and dear to our hearts as well as family members, I nearly lost him back In March 2020, but couldn't bring myself to quarantine inside our home. If he goes, I go with him. As he came through his COVID-19 illness (it lasted 4 weeks) I knew we were meant to be together and continue sharing not only our story, but love everywhere we went. I recently bought an 1861 Woodward and Brown antique victorian square piano that I'll have restored then play this same song on it and being it back to life again :)
One of my favourite films of all time. It really pulls at the ole heart strings. The fact Chris is no longer with us makes it very poignant too. The music is just beautifully arranged by the late John Barry. This film was not given enough credit that it deserved.💞
I remember watching this movie when I was in high school back in the 80s . I would see when it was playing on cable again and I’d stay home from school to watch it. Jane Seymour was a movie dream.
Then you still have that heart feels the joy of love. Too many people hate. We are lucky you and I. No matter what no one can take that beautiful magic that make life worthwhile.
I can hear the music and it still makes my heart remember how much I love this movie. So much emotion. Saw it in the theater in 1980 when I was 23. Love it even more now.
The spark of love is everlasting. We will never forget. Our souls never forget. We are alive because of love. The most beautiful and meaningful story of our lives is how we loved, forgave, understood and stood by one another. This is my most favorite romantic and spiritual movie ever. Best of luck to all love travelers, (in time/space/emotion), out there trying to reunite.
This was the only film I ever cried at it’s still my favourite love story and even now 40 odd years on and I’m I’m my late 50’s it will always remind me of my youth and happier times ❤
This one of my Moms favorites. She told me to watch it. This song brings tears to my eyes everytime. I loved her dearly, years later I have a big whole in my heart missing her. Absolutely a beautiful piece of music.
I love this movie about true, pure love that never dies. It touches me emotionally and don’t know why I cry every time. Filmed on Mackinac Island, Grand Hotel. I have stayed there a few times and the Hotel is back in time itself. So beautiful. 💝
I saw this movie when I was 9 or 10. I watched it at my great grandmas house. I’m 43 now. The longing of true and pure love in a time traveling format is indescribable.
I understand what you are saying, To look back and think "about then," and about that special person who could have been in our life; I do that often, and wish that I could go back and make changes in the way that I didn't try hard enough to keep the best girl that ever came into my life. We both were 16 at the time. She has since passed, Oh! How I miss her, and wish that I could have married her. My love for her never goes away.
To go back in time, to make amends for the mistakes that we made, the mistakes of letting "that special person" slip through our fingers and to never come back. I know what that is like, and think bout how happy we could have been, to this day... "if only"
One of the most beautiful songs ever, ..I am an old man I didn't live that long ago but I did live long enough to know today is not as good as it was yesterday 1940s and 1950s.
This is one of the most romantic movies I' even seen. Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour gave a terrific performance. The score was my John Barry and one of my favorite movie soundtracks of all time.
At the time of scoring the music for the movie I believe that John Barry just lost his parents, and out of that loss made him composed his music used in the film.
@@ducter2001 I believe when the soul is in mourning, it speaks out with unimaginable passion and with depths of pain and love . To where gifted artists, compose their best pieces . I love and appreciate John Barry's work with putting together such beautiful music for Somewhere In Time 💗 I listen to it every day as I do my chores or projects at home . It's soothing to my soul and gives me hope , that one day , I will meet my soul love .
I haven’t seen this movie but I’m familiar with the music ! I bought a box set of John Barry’s greatest hits ! He’s written so many songs for over a hundred movies ! One of my favorites was the music from Indecent Proposal with Demi Moore. !
My mom's favorite movie. Now she passed way !. And when I seen this wonderful movie and her favorite melody also. My mom's brings the time back to me ... !. Mom I been missing you so much !.
@@candicebardon9265 They both looked amazing in this. You could feel the love between them and their chemistry was great. Almost like they were just speaking what they felt as they were actually in love. If only I could experience what Chris did in this film towards a most beautiful woman and have her feel the same way back that it would be great.
I love this music, the person you have loved and no ending love, you’ll met again in a new place. My tears cannot stop to drop if I hear this music. Beautiful movie. Thanks to the composer.
This composition, main theme, is by John Barry, not Rachmaninoff's rhapsody. In movie Christopher Reeve is singing Rachmaninoff's rhapsody and his love was listening it on gramophone when she was old.
He looked American. There are others superior kinds of handsome men. I am one of them. The great Götz George was one of them. But yes, compared to your ugly husband he was "handsome".
One of my all-time favorite love stories...beautiful and haunting. The theme song never fails to make me cry like a baby, and knowing what happened to Christopher makes it even more heartbreaking. It is still unreal to me that his dear wife, Dana, died just 17 months after him. I hope they are together again.
I’ve seen this movie more times than I can remember, and the end always turns me into a blubbering mess. And whenever the question “what is your favorite soundtrack” gets asked, most people go with pop soundtracks, but I go with Somewhere in Time.
I love, love, love this movie, the beautiful song, just it all. I have a friend from kindergarten, yup kindergarten and our high school reunion is Wednesday, 64 years and my " kindergarten boyfriend" is still in my heart, I hope he will be there so I can at least tell him how much I love him, have loved him and this movie, this song just brings it up close and personal.🥰 And YES I've been to the island and felt the magic.
I first saw this movie when it arrived at the theater. I fell in love with this movie, and felt his grief at the loss of his precious Elise. I was haunted by his loss and The revisiting of the places they shared together, this coupled with beautiful love theme. I carried this feeling of loss, and in 2014 lost my beloved wife at the age of 49 to cancer. Now I realize why for all these years I harbored these feelings. I’m glad for those years I had with her, and I know I’ll see her again. I miss her terribly...
We played Somewhere in time at my father’s memorial because it was his favorite song and his favorite movie. I lost it when it started playing. It’s so beautiful. I watched it with him the first time he saw it.
What about the beautiful setting? It was filmed on Mackinac Island in Michigan. No motor vehicles are allowed on the island, only horse driven carriages and bicycles roam the streets. Victorian homes are nestled in the hills of this charming island. That place really takes you back in time. That's the Grand Hotel on Macknac Island. It's gorgeous and magnificent.
@@biancamilano Dana says- I've wanted to visit Mackinac Island ever since I first saw this movie as a pre-teen. There and Prince Edward Island in Canada (ever since reading the Anne of Green Gables books).
@@biancamilano It is absolutely beautiful. I loved being there and didn't want to leave. It's somewhere I wanted to see since seeing the movie. I wasn't disappointed.
