Jerry Weldon is on the album I have discovered. Tenor sax player extraordinaire. He has played an integral part with Harry Connick Jr.'s band for years now amongst other famous performers including singer Mel Tormé and guitarist/singer George Benson, guitarist Earl Klughand as a brilliant solo act on his own. To have people like Jerry feature on your album speaks volumes. I am hoping my copy will come tomorrow. Trying not to sound arrogant or conceited but I know my jazz musicians and there are some top players on this release. Stella is just as stellar (sorry for the pun but it fits) as these cool musicians. Her vocals deserve the best accompaniment possible. Very excited.

Oh, wow this is so magnificent. Alan Broadbent must be given some kudos for this beautiful arrangement and Stella for perfection in her vocal delivery being at one with this blissful, elegant take. The way she eases into the lyric so poignantly and with the emphasis on a sweet tenderness is gorgeous. Then in comes the piano and of the listener begins to melt away. I have mentioned this before, but her phrasing is so appealing to the ear. I don't know if it is intentional or just comes naturally but it gives her a uniqueness, so she just isn't a carbon copy of the great Judy Garland but more a gifted artist in her own write that pays homage to one of her biggest influencers. So, it does not come across as a tribute act but a beautiful rendition, capturing the essence of the song and Judy's styling but with Stella’s own unique touches which also includes her intonation which is to die for. Stella Katherine Cole surely will become a famous name over the next few months. This performance provides the thousands of wannabes with a grand example of how to cover such special and treasured material. The reserve and tender approach make this version special. It avoids the over-the-top pizazz (which granted does suit some material) and this delicate restraint gives the song a deep feeling of sincerity and beauty. Simply sublime. Buy her album!

Beautiful performance by Stella; she's much more relaxed than her live performance of this song and it feels warmer and more intimate. I do think the mix has the orchestra level a tad too prominent - Stella's voice needs to float and carry above the music and not be enveloped by it.
