@flyingeagle357 well He is right there is not a lot of people that know Somrak Khamsing and he had win olympic in the same category as Mayweather but does people know that not a lot
At medium range he leans back from punches just because kicks could follow up. At close he slips side to side and leans back as well. He also ducks under kicks which is super risky but he has a 6th sense. But if you want to take something from this video and apply it. Use leaning back from mid range and use side to side head movement from close range.
Somrak got almost a peerless natural talent. He often boasted that it wasn't easy to hit him in the ring. He loved to show off and played with his opponent. If he were to be a fighter of this era, the Japanese might invite him to K1 a few times but he would outclass them so much the fans will get bored.
Simply unreal Defense on Somrak. that’s why whenever Samart is asked who would win between him and his good friend Someak-Samart gets all defensive and says: ‘I’m not afraid of him.’
'Universal Kombat' don't know shit about boxing; these guys talk about head movement as if it were apropos of nothing, and not in response to strikes thrown. This 'duck under my right cross and I'll knee you in the head stuff' is revealing of basic ignorance--you can't throw two strikes AT THE SAME TIME, only in combination, and punches are thrown in combination a hell of a lot faster than kicks and knees. Watch Garbrandt-Cruz and look at the amount of slipping, weaving, ducking and rolling. Much better to watch than the high-guard-only shit that only works with big gloves.
Use all the limbs you want, you can only throw one strike at a time, dumbass. And knees, kicks, elbows, spinny shit, etc. isn't thrown in combination as quickly as punches. That much should be obvious. Whenever some mongoloid argues against head movement (!) with something like 'bobbing will get you kneed in the head, bro!' the obvious response is: why on earth would someone be attempting to duck under a knee? Tell me this: why don't opponents of Garbrant/Cruz/Dillashaw/Silva (any MMA-ist using head movement) simply knee or kick them in the head? If only it were that easy! You'd make a fucking awful coach.
@@louduva9849 No he wouldn't have. It would've been a competitive fight. Floyd was raw as hell back in '96. He wasn't the defensive mastermind that made him the GOAT. If they boxed today, he would've humiliated him. But back then it would've been a good fight.
@@blackhoodie4170 ducking under kicks is a very traditional defensive move in muay thai, the lean back is also a tradional move, thai fighters have the craziest lean back in all combat sports
For those who don't know, if mayweather weren't robbed in 1996 Olympics semi againts Todorov, he would've faced this guy in the final who went on to win the gold
One of the best fighter but he’s not as famous because no one in Thailand at the time want to fight him because of his defense. They know they will lose when being scored.

I wish Muay Thai fighters practiced boxing more. I know it would be less effective in a Muay Thai ring but I think the fighting would look way prettier. I have bias as I train boxing though, I just like using my hands a lot.
Then I guess you never heard of The Muhammad Ali Of Muay Thai? Then you should check out Samart Payakaroon highlights or watch Lawrence kenshin. He has the most head movement I ever seen, hand's down. He predicts he's opponents every move and KO'S them.
they do use feints against both of them , but fighters like them have a really high fight IQ and vision so they don't bite on feints, they react to the 'real' commited strikes and usually already have a counter ready for what they are throwing. making it seem they already know what's coming
He was too good to find an opponent, that was why he never been a Champion of Lumpinee because everyone refused to fight him, so, he had to move to make his own legend in Olympic and won first gold madal in history for Thailand.
