@les Yes, Somrak and Lerdsila lose against good attacker but that happen when they got old. At their prime all your good attackers just cant find the way to hit them. Deal with the fact bro. One of the best attacking fighter at that time Veeraphon admitted that he intentionally throw away the fight with Somrak 2 times coz he afraid that he gonna lose badly.

I remember the time when he won the olympic medal. I was a kid watching tv and I know everyone in the country was watching the same thing on tv. Somrak Kamsing most famous catch words in Thailand,' Mai dai mo', literally means not bragging. Very humble guy who love to joke a lot. Say if he becomes a Muay Thai champ, he would not have went outward to take up boxing, Seems like he was destined 2b a Olympic champion. Some say that his skill is comparable to Samart Payukarun. If both of them on the ring in the same period, It got to be a legendary fight. Somrak is well known as the smart+counter style, he reduce the damage from his opponent attack by his footwork and he can catch the right moment to counter. I'm Thai and when I think about Somrak's muay thai technic the first thing I think is how he slowly exhausted the opponent. He defend the punch by keep pushing it down so the oppopent has to rise his arm up everytime and that will build the stress to the arm bit by bit. When he got clinch, he will use his leg to block both knees and jump up to make the oppopent carry all his weight to make him exhausted.

He’s never has stitches on his face. When he was “unemployed” as no Thai fighters wanted to fight him. There was a National boxing game. Big provinces with big money got all good boxers so he offered himself to fight for a small province. Despite no training and drinking all night 😂 he won the fight and all the way to the gold medal. Unfortunately after his gold Olympic medal, he lost motivation, lack of training, partied hard😅 He just made it for his 2nd Olympic but lost… He’s alway cocky and funny. Motto of the story hard work beat genius.

Somrak was more talented than Saenchai, but he was just too much of a showman.

3:07 we almost had a boxing match between this legend and Floyd Mayweather, .... wow . Would have been crazy looking baco

I could be mistaken, but I believe that his very last fight was an exhibition fight against a Muay Thai fighter in which his opponent fought under regular MT rules but Somrak was restricted to using only punches and elbows...... and he still won.

Posting a correction, as he didn't win that last fight but it was a draw. Against Yodwanpadet Sor Junlasen.

It was a bet match and Somrak also cant use the legs to block the opponent kicks. If he block the kick he will lose. Anyway Yodwanpadet still scare to kick him much, it look like he afraid of his counter.

The last match the rule is : Somrak cannot use his leg to kick or to check kick. He can use only punch and elbow. If not he lose.

There is nothing special about Muay Thai. These people start training at a very young age and become professionals at a very young age. Fighting is their career cause that's the only way that they stay away from poverty. If you train only a couple of hours a week, your Muay Thai will suck and you will lose to other martial arts too.
