Upholsterer here, this is when cars used too have cooled seats not ventilated seats, this was made by a peltier assembly with fins and fans so this explains the cooled seats but not the heated seats. This is the interesting part, the assembly just flip the current on the peltier board and the heated side now run through the ducts on the seat, nowadays manufacturers just uses ventilated seats and a heating pad with wires for the heated seats all this in the name of saving some money. 90's/mid 00's is where you will see the best quality in seats overall. All this said huge fan of your videos, i never tought i will see something so related to my job in your channel.
@@ismarchena7207 Then the cost savings make sense for when it's available in cheaper cars but the expensive ones don't. Luxury cars have worse quality than ever while mid range cars are better than ever Sadly both have bad repairability.
AMD, I used to hold the naive notion that a top Lexus was as worry free as a simple Corolla, Camry or Yaris. While I still admire these top Lexus models, your channel has EDUCATED us about the realistic cost of long-term ownership that comes with the best cars in the world. Although my car is just a poor, distant cousin of this LS, it does offer me the 'luxury' of being uncomplicated. Best of luck to the family owning this beautiful LS 430, their car is certainly in good hands. 😁
Well if Toyota were worry free, AMD wouldn’t have a job working on Toyota’s. Toyota’s still require maintenance, which I don’t know why people don’t think they do.
Truth to be told, I have never hated RU-vid ads more than I did on this video. AMD, this video, amongst others indeed, is as satisfying as watch repair ones. Thank you!
I'm not sure why I feel exhausted after watching this video 😴. It feels like I was the one doing the repair, I was so much into it. Another job well done 👏 . Good job AMD. Greetings to Hossain
2 hour video for a seat, the longest video you have posted thus far and it is just a seat. 😭 That is a very nice gesture Car Care nut to have Jason at Car Supplies Warehouse detail it. Props to a wonderful son gifting such a gift to his dad 💓
Your a very humble guy, you treat your customers cars as your own, very few do this. BIG respect to you, some of us like you don't have the opportunity to gift our parents as they are no longer with us, stay safe, love the videos..
Mr. AMD, you are already contributing a lot to this LS430 restoration! Your care and attention to detail adds so much to the build! That is why owners are willilng to travel long distances so that they can have you work on their vehicles! God bless you and your staff!
What strike me the most after a few years watching this channel is the level of attachment owners have with their cars. Reparation decisions are not only driven by economical concerns and that says a lot about a brand. Also i feel less alone spending imo too much money on my 2013 LC 200 maintenance🙂
This video makes me feel much more accepting of the $400 I paid to replace the front seat panel (perforated leather) on my old LS460. Now that I've seen what was involved I'm amazed that all the electrical stuff on the seat is still working.
Hi from Australia, I love the videos .Thanks. What a kind-hearted offer as your contribution to the clients car. A full detail. May the Lord be with you, too, sir.
Mr. AMD, I do admire your love and patience to Lexus LS and other models. I can see your passion to do the things which are a challenge and tou never give up. The expression “it cannot be done” does not exist in your shop - congratulations to that!!! If every mechanic would be like you, all cars would flourish and would be in pristine condition 😊 I love to watch your channel and I always recommend it to my friends - not only to see what you work on, but also the quality of Toyota and Lexus brand - it is what YOU ALWAYS POINT OUT very nicely- thanks for that ;-) It helps us to decide, when we hesitate on pick. Tomas from Prague
Please, owner of the car, accept AMD offer of the detailing and let's have a presentation video of the car with the whole of the TCCN team present. Now, that would be an amazing video. AMD, you're truly a living legend educating us with your detailed videos and your wife supporting you employing a great team. You truly deserve a lot of praise for taking a huge gamble to go it alone from the main dealer workshop. Live long and prosper, sir. Your RU-vid bass, brother Aziz.🙏
Well based on the son’s behavior we feel we know his dad. His dad did the right job!!! This is just awesome well done. Also well done AMD for contributing your offer is a nice thing… God Bless you all 🙏
You make the best videos. I watched it all. Just to know why my Lexus is made so well and comfortable as to how they are engineered and built. Like a Swiss clock of automotive. Thanks
CCN is Great to see you again, As Always AT YOUR BEST. This is a Lucky Family to have 1 of The Best Toyota/Lexus MASTER MECHANICS in The U.S.A. God Bless Broder. Maybe 1 of these days you will move to BIKINY STATE FLORIDA.🌈✝☮
Thank you! I tried to replace the seat cushion on my GX and got confused with those rings. Now I know that I can just cut them! Weekend project restarted.
Thank you for making this video! I’ve been searching all over the internet for help with this exact job, and no one has done a video on these specific seats-until now. You’ve just saved me a ton of money on a project I’ve wanted to do myself to restore my LS430 seats to their former glory. Keep up the great work! Your videos are soooo beneficial for us LS430 owners!
Having recently replaced the seat upholstery on my 1999 Lexus ES300 I can appreciate this work. It is tiring, he hardest part was wrapping the bottom upholstery around the cushion my hands were very sore afterwards. It was my firs time upholstering but it came out pretty well. It wasn't OEM leather (I'm not sure if its available and if it was it would be way out of my price range) I found pretty good leather covers on eBay. Just a technical note as to the video as it seems while the audio is at a good level it is low compared to the ads RU-vid plays in between. I usually cast these videos to my TV which is quite disorienting when watching this calming video and then being startled by an overly loud commercial. So I turn the volume up for the video which then makes it way too loud for the ads. Thanks RU-vid.
AMD, your love for the Lexus/Toyota brand is really brought out here as you show us this content. Seriously you could use much of what you share here to create content that should be a master class that younger mechanics can follow to show how passion, concentration and attention to detail make the difference in a repair. You rock!
Wow what construction and the complexity holly-- !! But he is the person to trust! A regular mechanic he would just trash it!! OCD is a good thing for this. Awesome job! The son that is giving it to his father will be proud and to have a son that Loves his father is amazing God Bless him ❤️
Everything abt this car is perfect.. The body color , the interior is so simple and rich , the door closing sound is solid .... all the noises are ASMR golds for me
My father’s ‘03 LS430 has the most uncomfortable driver’s seat I have ever sat in. Granted I am a larger guy, and nearly 250 lbs but something about the shape or design of the seat causes me great hip pain. I went online on one of the Lexus forums and found that I am not alone. I own a LX470 and that is incredibly comfortable and even my wife’s Prius V can be driven all day with no pain. The resolution on the Lexus forum was to not only replace the pad but to add more cushion to it. Personally I think it’s the side bolster and flat seat bottom combined with the type of pad needed for the cooled and heated seats that causes the pain.
Another wonderful video, Ahmed. I love how you take such great care to protect your customer's car, to make sure you do all you can to avoid scratches. And your attitude about "part of being a mechanic is the challenge" is a good lesson for all of us, when we consider solutions to problems that come our way. Finally, get some rest and take care of your back.
I love the reason why this car is being worked on and I imagine you know precisely what you're doing considering the amount of work you did to your LS430. Love your content brother.
My dad was a Top mechanic, other mechanics would come to dad for mystery problems, i was proud to be his son. Unfortunately, he had no patience teaching me, so ive only 5% of his knowledge. RIP 😢
I hope the sun lets you get it detailed. It will look absolutely amazing. I love that color. What a great gift you would give them. Great job. Love your channel. God bless you.
These always catch my eye in the wild as I owned a black one for a time. This has to be one of the nicest, rarest colors as neither my wife nor I can remember ever seeing one.
This brought back some memories for me. Not that long ago, I replaced both of the front seat covers on my 2003 RX300 and surprisingly it was very similar to this process. I could not find any videos online that showed the process but I figured it out same as AMD. I was able to get to the 2 rear bolts on the seat pan though since the seat was similar but not as complicated / complex and it made the job easier. Getting the new (fake) leather stretched out was the toughest part after figuring out how to remove and reinstall the seat. AMD is very correct that there are lots of sharp edges that cut your hands and fingers very easily so I was so nervous watching him do this with out any gloves on. Regardless, the seats came out great and very happy! Once again, great job AMD. I can't wait to get my hands on an LS430 and do all of this myself one day. Keep up the good work and great videos!
I am impressed by the complexity, number of parts and engineering for this seat assembly. Your professionalism and care in disassembly, repair, and assembly is always an inspiration!
Tip for the hog rings. I simply open them with an external bent nose snap ring plier and unhook it from the wire. You can even reuse them if you want to.
As a believer there are FEW things I can watch that are not filled with cussing and women on Automotive Channels. As a Lexus/Toyota enthusiast this channel of this shop where integrity and passion for cars are compatible and the Glory goes to The Lord is just great.
That is a beautiful car for sure! What a great thing to do on everyone's part! Everyone does things just a little differently. Some vehicles I'll take the rear lower cushion out and bring the seat out the rear doors where there is no dash in the way. For the wheel removal I always leave the nut on a turn or two to keep my remaining teeth just in case, haha. Nice work.
The father who is receiving the gift would have never noticed anything wrong with the seat. He will be so happy and appreciated by his son that all those little things you are fixing or worrying about are a bit over the top to even be given a second thought. The car is beautiful and shows some normal wear and tear. So that is fine. Gives it character. Sometimes these projects go a bit too far with unnecessary repairs. It is not a show car or a professional blue ribbon restoration. The first thing that will happen when 4 people pile in for a ride is....oops sorry I scratched your leather seat or console. Especially if grand children are involved. So don't sweat it.
It boggles the mind to contemplate how many 1000's of design hours went into the making of that seat. Goes a long way to help explain the prices asked for these luxury cars. Thanks for the tear-down AMD. Fascinating video!
Boy Ahmed, I’ve thought about replacing the drivers cushion in my LS430 that you did the timing belt and suspension a few months ago. I definitely wouldn't tackle this job DIY, I’d probably not be able to reassemble.......
