Fitting off the front windscreen and installing the engine mount #aeroplane #experimentalaircraftchannel #flying #sonex #sonexaircraft #homebuiltaircraft #plane
Hi Brian, please give my apologies to Adam for not mentioning him too in the article. I am thankful it was picked up that I need the catch can, and as always thanks for your input…
I am of two minds with the overflow, be it an AN fitting with aluminum tube or hose from a 1/4 outlet? I will start with the catch can, then see how it looks.
@@pandysevenI kept my drain line small diameter (like 3/16") aluminum and also kept it aft of the firewall. I think if you go forward of the firewall something steel should be used - brake line might be a good option. You don't really need a lot of diameter because what happens when you or whoever is filling screws up, typically you stop and become more careful with the fill process. There needs to be just enough diameter to let it drain. It is generally not a lot of fuel. We have used this feature more than once!
Nice job Andy. The fuel catch looks really good. I'll have to copy it when I get to that point. I have the magazine, but I havent read the article yet - I'll have to check it out.
It's quite an ingenious solution to avoid spell-out fuel when filling the tank. Will you mount the Jabiru 3300 engine on your plane? Your Sonex would become a pocket rocket!
