@@oazeje12358 It is oversimplified to call Poles in Lithuania "tutejszy" (and outright wrong to call Poles in Lithuania "Polish Lithuanians"). Proper "tutejszy", as well as some locals more firmly holding Polish identity (my grandma included) speak a Belarusian dialect. Intelligentsia use literary Polish with local pronunciation. School students usually use a wild mix between local form Polish and Russian in daily communication among themselves, while at home, with more cultured peers and teachers, they use local Polish variety (in Vilnius and some other places, because there are places where the dialect or jargon is from other languages), which is more often used by older generation (because they don't use slang with in so many situations as their children do). And people from Šalčininkai, at least school students, speak even wilder mix of languages, but differently to people from Vilnius, it is rather Russian dilluted with Polish, than the other way around. It is a broad topic, so I can answer the remaining questions and more in Lithuanian somewhere else. Do you have Discord or something like that?

Unfortunately, 99% of our songs are Lithuanian ones. Only now-and-then we make a "project" song, like this one, or the Misty mountains cover. However, time will show what future will bring :)

"Ugnia" = ognia/ogień; "vijas" = wąż (u-wija-ć/wić się jak wąż)? Ognio-wąż = fire-snake? Let's not forget the root Balto-Slavic language. Correction: apparently "vijas" means wind in Lithuanian, but I guess you could argue that the wind slithers itself through the landscape like a snake? So "ugniavijas" means fire-wind I guess.

@@ChillDudelD Actually I grew up outside of Poland (though I use Polish with my parents only), so my Polish is not as good as my English, so I had to self-learn to read and write Polish. But yes, I checked the dictionary. "Snake" is Lithuanian is apparently either, "gyvate", or "angis", so not even close to Polish "wąż". As for "ugnies" or "ugnis" in Lithuanian, you also have the Polish cognate "ognisko" for bonfire, so there's that too. A fireplace "kominek" in Polish would be "kurykla" in Lithuanian, both have two "K" letters in them. Cool, no? A bird, "Ptak" (bird), "Ptaszek" (diminutive of bird), "Ptaszysko" (fat bird), the LIthuanian equivalent for bird would be "paukštis". As for "wind", remember you have the Polish verb "wieje" or "wiać", meaning "it (the wind) blows", so it is somewhat connected to Lithuanian "vijas". Lithuanian and Latvian language have also strong linguistic connections to the Prussian Language (another Baltic language like Latvian and Lithuanian) spoken by the Teutonic Knights, "Krzyzacy" in the area of modern day what is now "Kaliningrad". In fact, "Prussian" (which went totally extinct by the 1700's) was a mixture of "Middle Low German" (the dominant German Language of the Teutonic Knights in the 14th and 15th century) and the local Baltic and Slavic Languages at the time, hence how "Prussian" language was born. Heck, Latvia (the area used to be called "Kurland" many centuries ago), used to be part of the "Livonian Teutonic Order" in the 15th century, which was controlled by the Teutons, and then later by the Swedes in the 17th century. So even Latvian Language has a lot of Germanic influences, in addition to having the existing Slavic and Baltic linguistic base. The area of Modern Lithuania though (unlike Latvia nor Kaliningrad), was never under either Teutonic nor Swedish control. So that's why Lithuanian language contains LESS German and Swedish language influences (and instead more Baltic and Slavic) than do either the extinct Prussian or the still-existing Latvian.

Thank you for your extensive comment and you are right about words and their similarities. Those come from the proto - Indoeuropean language. Baltic-Slavic language separation was relatively recent, thus the similarities.

@@Ugniavijas If you want to do Polish songs from the PLC then I recommend taking inspiration from Starosielskie Bractwo Śpiewacze - Pieśni Rycerskie: Pieśń nowa o szczęśliwej potrzebie [bitwy] pod Byczyną; Koło rycerskie (ProAnimaTV) etc., and/or Polish Eagle: Duma rycerska; Duma kamieniecka; or more modern iterations like Pieśń o żołnierzu tułaczu; Duma o Chodkiewiczu/Żółkiewskim/królu Sobieskim etc. Most of them are in general performed by waszmości pan Jacek Kowalski - our time traveling Sarmatian bard. ;) His: Oda do rycerstwa polskiego; Szarża i sen husarski; Pieśń kurna; Pieśń o zdradzie murzynowej; Odważny Polak na Marsowym Polu (STAWAM NA PLACU Z BOGA ORDYNANSU); or Małgorzatka etc. are also nice.
