Fahey was a genius. There really is a hypnotic quality to his music but it's kind of hard to put to words. It's so easy to forget that it's just one guitar playing these tunes. I would most recommend his albums Days Have Gone By, The Yellow Princess and Fare Forward Voyagers. And as for random favourite songs: On The Sunny Side Of The Ocean: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O87aEI3hVQ4.html The Portland Cement Factory At Monolith California: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A8A6LhdzrVY.html Revolt Of The Dyke Brigade: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lKLXIZX_Ytc.html
@@tonywhitburn Definitely my pleasure. Personally, I find that Fahey works best in full album scale, as it really allows you to sink into that mood. Then again, I'd say that about most music so whatever gets people going.
singles to the new protomartyr album "ultimate success today". there are three - and they are all so good. might remind you of early pixies and a bit of interpol.
I was excited when you said you'd do John Fahey and I'm glad it was one of the songs by him that I know and like. Like Robbie Basho, his stuff can get really avant-garde, so I haven't actually heard much, but sometimes it hits really hard. If I could make another suggestion, I think you might like the Tallest Man on Earth. He's a Swedish singer-songwriter (his songs are in English though) and my favorite artist. The dude's a fingerpicking powerhouse, so your appreciation for Fahey would probably carry over to him as well. I'd recommend either his second and most popular album the Wild Hunt, which is acoustic, or his third album There's No Leaving Now, which is more alternative with some extra instrumentation. If you were just gonna check out one song, I'd suggest "Troubles Will Be Gone" from the Wild Hunt or "Little Brother" from There's No Leaving Now. Sorry my recommendations are so long.
Hi, man. Again, thanks for the recommendation, tho I already like The Tallest Man On Earth. I got into him preciselly with The Wild Hunt some time ago. Burden of Tomorrow is my favorite. I haven't listen the other record you recommended me, so I guess I have some homework, haha. Thanks again for your time and words. Cheers!
love your reaction and review on these albums, can you review the Brand New album The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me. It's an amazing alt rock album from the 2000's
