Really?! Weird as a Dane to find out just how big Mew apparently was. Didn’t expect them to have fans all the way over in Japan. But awesome! Used to listen to them loads.

Haha I didn't even know about them until you guys bring it up here. I did read that page from the band's old website, but just glossed over many bands on his list except The Mars Volta and Sigur Ros (I think?). Now that I took some listen, I can definitely see where did he get his inspiration for his guitar tone and vocal style from👀 Also, TMV and Number Girls were among his formative influence I believe.

Although I wonder if he also listened to some prog rock band? I got quite strong vibe to classic progger Gentle Giant in each instrumental interlude in this, you might also hear that in his other songs esp. from his solo project.

@@GuyWhoLikesTheSnarkies1435 among western artists he also mentions Björk, Linkin Park and The Used (no Sigur Ros, at least on this wayback machime snapshot). Most progressive sounding band on this list is Natsumen (they sound jazzy and avant-garde-ish). But TK also most definitely was paying attention to japanese emo/phc scene (there are 2 such bands on his list - Ivisibleman's Deathbed and Number Girl). Some songs from #4 sound like they could be a part of 1000 Travels of Jawaharlal (early '00 japanese emo/phc) realese except vocals are different
