It feels to me like an RPG where Luke forgot to finish the Tosche Station tutorial before he hit the point in the main quest where he can't return to finish it, so it's been stuck in his quest log, forever unfinished.

I absolutely love that; how they all look disappointed, angry, or disgusted with Luke. Even better, some characters make noises, or vocalize their reactions.
I love the concept that Star wars is just Luke only wanting to go to Tosche Station, but some how he became a master Jedi, a Rebel pilot, and met his father in the process.

We had a talk at school about the hero’s journey and how it’s related to real life. So they asked what Luke’s goal that he really wants to achieve is in Episode IV. I said he wants to go to Tosche Station.
For those who are curious, Tosche Station is the name of a power station/repair shop which is located in the town of Anchorhead on Tatooine. One of Luke's friends worked there which is why Uncle Owen responses with telling Luke he can waste time with his friends later when Luke said that he was going to go to Tosche Station.

Our Tosche Station on the outskirts of Anchorhead-town is operated by my friend Fixer,and is one of the few meeting places for the youth of Tatooine. The Tosche Station is a few miles east of our homestead. We also loved to visit and hang out in the little town..going to the cantinas,or market..My best friend Biggs lived in Anchorhead ;)

Fun fact: Tosche Station was named after Dave Toschi, an inspector with the San Francisco Police Department. Inspector Toschi was the lead investigator for the SFPD in the Zodiac case, and he directly inspired both Dirty Harry and Steve McQueen's character in _Bullitt._ George Lucas thought Toschi was unfairly criticized when the Zodiac wasn't caught, so he included a tribute to him in _Star Wars._

Poor Luke, it really wasn't fair. He just wanted a normal life like any young person but bigger things ended that. And he never even got to Tosche Station.
Strangely, this made me think of us with obsessive personalities, anxiety or intrusive thoughts. It was kind of sad seeing this man literally wasting his whole life looking for something out of his reach and completely ignoring or disregarding the legendary adventure he was living in. Such a great reminder that sometimes you have to appreciate your journey and where you are now, and let go of stuff that only weighs you down.

5:35 when they’re on Hoth is my favorite verse. The mood shift eludes to Luke encountering something truly primal and dangerous. Not sure about the intent but schmoyoho is thoughtful and cheeky enough that I’m going to believe that.

As a fan i've put up with a lot of shit from star wars what with George's need for the special editions, hell i even learned to appreciate the good and even some bad parts from the prequels. but what they fucking did to Luke's character was more like ''The Last Straw'' for me. Never before have i said what im about to say, but i am done with Star Wars. Atleast Disney's star wars, there's still 30 years of juicy EU content before the mouse destroyed my childhood.
