Feel free to do as many barbie song videos as you want, we will never get bored. I suggest: barbie rock and royals Barbie island princess - right here in my arms Barbie princess power - soaring
Hey Matthew! I would really like to see you watch the series elena of avalor (maybe even some of the songs that are connected to sofia the first?) This is just a suggestion 😅. I also love your videos! Keep up the good work!! ❤ If you do decide to do this, the songs I recommend are: 1. The spirit of Avalor 2. My time 3. The great unknown, and just some songs from the actual series itself: 1. Ready to rule 2. You can't catch me. 3. Blow my top.
Diamond castle is one of those movies where they try to say 'their just roommates' except they live in a cottage growing flowers and also at one part in the movie they ditch the 'love interests' to go on a rainbow road together. But yet their just 'best friends'
That movie is just "and they were roommates" 😂 I loved the entire power of music and medieval adventure aspect as a child, but I would lie if I said it didn't give me unrealistic expectations for friendship.
i guess i get the other part but living with a girl when ur a girl and having a garden i dont think is gay unless ur actually in an established relationship lmao
@@Gafafsgmate, I've watched Barbie since day one when I first discovered it. Not to mention how much these impacted on our lives when we watched, listened and just laugh at some of the unfunny lines like, remember the bloopers
I am also a grown ass man, and I still come back to listen to "Cat's Meow" whenever I feel down and insecure. It's so special to me, and probably many others, too. "I love you the way you are", that's something we all need to hear as often as possible
@@njivwathomassilavwe2056 They were the best of friends. Just gals being pals, singing about their love and choosing to keep living together despite having option to live with hot princes. Such a gold platonic friendship that is
The Princess and the Pauper is generally seen as the best Barbie movie of all time! The songs and great messages are a large part as to why! I remember The Cat's Meow used to be my favourite song as a child, because I was an awkward autistic child who got bullied a lot, and cates were/are my special interest. So I'd sing this song to my cat and simultaneously remind myself that I was alright as I was :') Nothing will ever compare to what that song did for me!
For the mermaid one. She was raised as a human by her grandpa because her mother is the queen of the ocean and couldn’t keep a human in the water for safety reasons. She learned she was a mermaid soon on and had to save her kingdom and mother after a whole identity crisis that she even was a mermaid
Her mother is the queen of Oceana not the whole ocean btw. There are other kingdoms in the Mermaid Tale universe and other royals. The kingdom Calissa rules is called Oceana
100%! I’ve seen people say it could’ve been taken out of the movie and nothing would be lost, but it’s everything to me and I’m so glad it’s there. Also it does serve the purpose of the King realizing that she can sing, and that she values honesty. “I love you the way you are and that will never change.” 🥹
It’s so surprisingly poignant and tender. 😭 Honestly. “There is not one hair of you that I would rearrange. I love you the way you are and that will never change.” 😭😭😭
@sophielem59 yeah, I find a lot of the barbie movies after 2014 or 2015 kinda flopped. They just didn't have the same feel as the older ones, like there's more corporate control of them or something
to give u context matt, A Cat's Meow happened before If You Love Me For Me. that's why the prince looked so into her. the prince was actually trying to figure out what kind of princess he was abt to marry as he wanted someone who would love him for who he was. thus when he heard Erika (pretending to be Annelise) sang this song, he became sure and fell for her. on the other hand, Erika was also singing "if u love me fot me" bcs during that time she was disguising as Annelise which means she wasn't completely being herself
BRUH!!! When "On Top of the World started I immediately got hit with a massive wave of nostalgia. I didn't even know it was in a barbie movie. I used to listen to it on repeat
"I love you the way you are And that will never change" is the part of the song that ALWAYS makes me tear up, and I felt so validated when Mathew did the same.
Queen of the Waves is legendary. Mermaid Tale was my one defining Barbie film, my sister's was magic of pegasus. Everyone has one. There's always one Barbie film that defines you as a person forever.
I had several lol. the nutcracker, rapunzel, princess and the pauper, 12 dancing princesses, island princess, diamond castle. but out of all of them I think that princess and the pauper and 12 dancing princesses were my favorites, 12 dancing princesses actually made me fall in love with ballet and I asked my parents for point shoes every single Christmas 😂
for the first song (i could be remembering wrong) but i don’t think that’s the actual princess, it’s the pauper disguised as her because they switched places. i think she’s sad because she knows she can’t marry a king
That's what I recall. And the king dressed up as a diplomat or messenger to try to get the know the "real princess" without the pomp and circumstance, so she's feeling especially guilty abt it
We need Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse out of context! Also, I am here once again asking for him to listen to Good Vibes from Barbie Big City Big Dreams
For the first song, you were right to assume it was wierd for the girl at first because she was actually wearing a wig and the dress to resemble the princess (shes the girl from the second song with the brown hair) said princess was missing at the time and she was asked to take her place until they found her, so she had to hide her identity from the king hence why she was like she wished he would love her for being herself which she was not at the time.
yea and king dominic was also in some sort of disguise when they first met. he then said he didn't want to be seen as just the king or something along this line so its soo sweet that they both wanted to be loved for who they really are and both lied about it
Not Mathew watching the two songs from the princess and the pauper in the wrong order so he can't realize that the first one is actually the brunette (Erika) singing with the amazing king Dominik (huge crush) while being disguised as the blond one (Princess Anneliese). But Mathew not getting the context of Princess and the Pauper makes it even funnier to watch 😂 Also On top of the World has a full version and it's amazing 🥰
I love that you reacted to two voices one song and at first you considered it to be platonic but then started questioning if they were Lesbian. Aside from Being an amazing movie with songs many people feel like the characters were Lesbians so it was nice that you felt it too. Thank you for brightening up my day, :3
Some context: The princess in the first two is actually the pauper in disguise. So she knows that she won't marry the prince anyway. But he's really nice and they still end up falling in love. This is why the title "If You Love Me for Me" is actually ironic, cause the pauper is pretending to be someone she isn't. But the prince sees her true personality. The girl from Mermaud Tale is a mermaid, but she doesn't know at the beginning. The girls from Diamond Castle are shipped a lot. xD The movie stresses that they're friends, but I mean, there are clues for a different interpretation too. xD
2:52 Blue is Erica's color. I could not remember if this was before or after they switch places, since Wolfie is there, it's after. 9:02 She's half Mermaid. 11:40 They each teach lessons, I think Mermaid Tail teaches you to always be yourself. Her mother is Queen of the Mermaids and her name is based on what the Royal Family produces to keep the ocean alive. Charm School is a Manners school for Princesses to get them ready for Royal Life. I think it's every school year that a non-royal is chosen to attend the school and get the chance to be the aide(?) of a Princess. Blair, the blonde girl, is the non-royal who was in charge of her adoptive mother's cafe while she was sick. The move with the teapot and tray was how she served customers, not how you would serve royal guests.
Get ready for some more unsung childhood gems! The early 2000s iteration of Strawberry Shortcake music. The two songs that come to mind are "The Real Me" from their spinoff of rapunzel and "Let's Dance."
To give some context to the first song, the girl that's singing is pretending to be the Princess at the time, who had been kidnapped to prevent cancelling the marriage with the Prince (dude singing) while they find the princess. So the fact that she looks sad is because she's singing about being loved for who she truly is, while pretending to be someone else. She starts to fall in love, but she feels guilty to be deceiving the prince.
When you said that you wanted to add "On Top of the World" to your Spotify playlist, I felt that in my soul 😂 In fact, I've had it on my playlist for a while now. That's why I can say that the version you listened to us not the full version. The rest of it is immaculate ❤❤
I highly recommend you to react to these if you make another part! Shine - Barbie and the 12 Dancing princesses Making my way - Barbie and the three musketeers OR all for one - Barbie and the three musketeers We’re gonna find it - barbie and the diamond castle Here I am/ to be a princess mash up - (forgot what the exact name of the movie was) Right here in my arms - Barbie the island princess (Will give you more context in the movie itself I think) Enjoy your reactions a ton and hope to see another part!!
Lucky from My Scene goes Hollywood Unbelievable from three musketeers What's gonna happen from secret door Soaring from princess power Superhero beat form princess power Coolest thing ever from princess power Champions from spy squad King of the kingdom from princess adventure Wings from Swan Lake Constant as the stars above from rapunzel Another me from fashion fairytale Life is a fairytale from fashion fairytale Can you keep a secret from fairy secret This feeling is everything and shooting star from Starlight adventure Wonderful me from diamond castle I want it all from secret door Spontaneous combustion from my scene jamming in Jamaica All of these are underrated and forgotten Look how high we can fly from popstar
Also you've covered some Barbie songs but there are many more and honestly... they can all (or almost all) give you such happy feels that it's amazing!
I can't tell you how many times I've gotten If You Love Me For Me stuck in my head. It's super pretty and easy to sing. The Cat's Meow is another favorite! I'm glad you are enjoying your Barbie Movie journey. They were a big part of my childhood. I remember getting Barbie in the Nutcracker for Christmas on VHS when I was six and the future movies quickly became my favorites. Fun fact about the Barbie Movies: The original three movies (Barbie in The Nutcracker, Barbie as Rapunzel, and Barbie of Swan Lake) Plot were interconnected because the plot of those movies was Barbie telling a story to her younger sister, Kelly, to reassure and encourage her though her insecurities and worries. I wish they had kept that plot cause it was super wholesome.
The vibe of "If You Love Me for Me" is that Erika (the pauper) goes undercover as Annalise (the princess) for reasons I won't spoil, and while undercover she falls for King Domenic (the king who is arranged to marry Annalise) while he is disguised as a servant. So when they sing he has revealed himself to be the king but Erika is still in hiding. It's complex
Princess charm school is a Barbie movie about a server named Blair, who is the lost princess the heir of that whole kingdom, but she was a abandoned not by her parents, but by an evil aunt type of thing like a friend type of thing to the queen her mother, and she has to go through this whole journey, and then at the end she finally realized that she is the true heir of the kingdom. Also the female villain in this story got her parents killed in a car accident
Glad you loved on top of the world, just so you know, the version you listened to was the movie version, I hope you consider listening to the full version just to get the rest of it because it’s the best part in my opinion 😊
Princess and the Pauper really taught such amazing messages to young girls, including me. Erika's empathy, loving someone for who they are inside, accepting our differences as what make us beautiful, chasing your dreams, JUST SO MUCH. I love that movie to pieces.
Barbie and the diamond castle is iconic for being a lesbian movie through and through even though there was male romantic stuff for them they didn't even actually end up together and just went back to just being the two girls friendship so it's iconic for being called the lesbian Barbie movie
Since you seem to absolutely love the songs from Princess and the Pauper, you should totally react to the whole movie like how you did with Boo York! 💗 It's considered one of the best Barbie movies, so many ppl hold it in their hearts 😊
I hope Mathew does more of Sofia the first, particularly stuff in the later seasons. And Elena of Avalor. I think he’d get a kick out of the song with Esteban singing
Glad you loved it! Also there are heaps of more songs you would definitely love! Please keep going! I think you’ll really love the song ‘right here in my arms’ from Barbie the island princess
yes, YES, *YES* Mathew those two are in love. The movie keeps acting like they're best friends but in reality... We all know they're *roommates* ✨✨ And Mattel won't admit it.
That's what I actually love about the Barbie movies. There are so many songs that tell you that you can be anything you want, everything is possible, just believe in yourself and it's so reassuring. I legit listen to some of them on a daily basis for motivation ❤
Dude all these songs gave me so much nostalgia, especially the On Top Of The World song, it gives me CHILLS! I can't describe how much I love it, it's just AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
Both of the first songs played are honestly some of my favs from Barbie, thank you for playing those. There is a major part of the context missing though. In the first song, it’s Erica pretending to be the Princess in this scene, because the real one is missing, and she’s playing the part of her friend, the Princess, so that the kingdom doesn’t panic and the very important arranged marriage goes along, while the Princess’s tutor/love interest Julian tries to investigate where the real princess went. Julian is the one who sang the “To be a Princess” song. Anyways, Erica is partially singing to the Prince, Dominic, about actually hoping he will love Her as Her, because she isn’t actually the Princess, knowing all the while that they can’t actually be together. Hence, why the sad sigh. She is actually falling in love with the Prince, but she can’t. For the Cat’s Meow song, the song also made me emotional too, it’s so sweet and great message too. Also love that it’s a song sang to her cat too, honestly adorable.
I have always really loved “The Cat’s Meow,” but despite the love a lot of people see to have for “The Princess and the Pauper” I feel like that song tends to be overlooked or diminished. It was really nice to see someone who was as touched as I was by the song. It made my heart feel good.
In the first song she’s pretending to be someone else, and she wants him to love the real version of her. And in the garden he picks the ONE blue flower in a whole field of pink ones to represent how he does want her just the way she is & who loves her for who she is on the inside. It’s very beautiful
"The Cat's Meow" has always been my favourite Barbie song. My parents even got me an Erika doll when I was a little kid. Most of my Barbies and extras were second hand, not that that's bad, it was just a surprise that they did.
The cats meow is the best Princess and the Pauper song, it makes me cry when ever I hear it, its amazing in the film, and as a metaphor irl, its just so beautiful
HYPED TO WATCH edit - idk if you take youtube requests, but if you see this please consider making another vocaloid video! close to you ft. flower would absolutely blow you away and a lot of songs from project sekai are super good :3
If you're looking for more barbie songs I would recommend Barbie in the Twelve Dancing Princesses Theme, Right Here In My Arms Reunion and Love Is For Peasants!
I am so glad you are enjoying these songs! All of these had a huge impact on me as a kid! I love them all! And you aren't alone in saying "On Top of the World" is a song you would just add to your playlist! That song is so frickin' good!
Your Barbie videos are some of my favorites! I swear so much of the budget in these movies go to the music because it’s pretty much consistently great. It’s just so nice to see non-fans find this out for themselves. I smiled so much during this. Thanks for sharing!
Barbie songs never grow old❤ They still give me a feeling of strength when I am in my low (the Shooting Star song) I'd definitely recommend songs from Barbie Starlight Adventure, Barbie and the three musketeers and Barbie as the Pearl Princess
There's a Barbie movie where she lives in space, has a hover board, her cat/dog hybrid is pink, and she dances with the stars to make them feel better. That was a good movie.
