ツlunestes honestly fergalicious was such a jam for me for so long and when my friend started playing the JJ fad song and I recognized it I almost cried just because I had it so cemented in my brain that it was fergi’s song I mean it’s called fergalicious
Call it "legal sampling" or whatever, but Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas have become millionaires off their song catalog full of rip-offs. No big surprise there.
bundang don what a weird thing to say, putting what it literally is in air quotes like that devalues it...no amount of air quoting and trying to make it look bad makes it less legitimate. It is in fact legal sampling, and the act of ripping someone off involves screwing them out of their credit and/or money.
Galway Girl was written and performed with Beoga so it's actually a collaboration or rewrite. I think Ed Sheeran is related to a member of the band, too.
@@Valentino-sg8lt He is literally performing Beoga's song WITH Beoga, who are featured in the music video, on his album and played the song with him on his tour. They added lyrics and changed the name but it's still the same song performed by the same band. Unless you can sample your own song I don't consider it a sample. Maybe you have a different view.
@@Valentino-sg8lt How did you come to the conclusion that I think it's stolen? I never said that. I said Galway Girl is a different version of the same song performed by the original band, it's like a remix. it's like Beoga did a remix of their own song featuring Ed Sheeran who helped them remix it. You don't sample yourself.
Depends what type of sampling. interpolating or just stealing melodies like a lot of the pop/rnb songs then i agree, but if its actually taking obscure songs or chopping samples or doing something creative & transformative, then i can respect it.
I think it is because people want something original and new... People don't want to hear a song that sounds exactly like another but just with a new beat and talking about money. I don't hate sampling it isn't too bad half the time but it can get a bit annoying...
Y’all are so dramatic with the “I’m let down/I’m sad” comments... y’all know most of these artist don’t produce their own music so why are you let down? 🙄
It's not even that. I feel bad for the producers/songwriters who are the REAL artists. I've heard of big artist sampling a song by a producer or songwriter that isn't as popular ANYMORE and not clearing it. That's not right.
Well sampling isn’t copying. If they copied it, they could be sued. Sampling isn’t bad at all, it just means someone likes the beat and wants to use it.
Am I the only one who thinks that when you sample songs its cool? Its so interesting to see how each artist interprets what they can do with a given tune
Idk what they're so upset about, nothing is original in music and everyone agrees sampling is fine so people should chill. They're both great songs and I can totally hear the similarity even if it's more along the lines of "pop song chords" than actual sampling
@@sonofagun4125 personaly i don't think anyone is upset is just that everything here sounded so close and similar that that one is hard to catch? I honest to god don't hear it but maybe they switched instruments and tempo? Soo idk really... 🤷🏼♀️
