@@ericdalhoff3507 i think its taking place after sonic the hedgehog 2. there is evidence to this as in the other game, sonic before the sequel, sonic and tails have not met eachother and are never with eachother if i remember correctly (its been quite a bit since i played before the sequel)

I don't think Eggman used the emeralds on himself because the Eggmobile glows with him, and where did it go after he transformed? Plus he ecplodes like a mech in the end of the fight.

Yes thats correct, in fact the same person that made Sonic After the Sequel made Sonic Chrono Adventure, as for the "thing" you mencioned, its called EGGATS and he show up im both games, first in this one and them Eggman reactivates him for Sonic Chrono Adventure, with why hes damaged in that game.

Did you have the Cutscenes on? The reason it doesn't work is because the cutscenes don't work anymore because the cutscenes were made in Flash, and as of December 31st 2020 Flash was discontinued. If you want to play the game, i recommend you to turn off the cutscenes.
