Wow, the graphics look amazing and really fit the "hand-drawn" topic. Although I'm not too shabby at drawing (as you can see at my profile picture) I wouldn't be able to draw this many sprites in a constant quality. That must've taken pretty long.

Your game looks wonderful! I've beaten the original Sonic 2 on Genesis. I had a Game Gear and I played that version (same as Master System) when I was younger as well. This looks like a really cool remake. It's been fun watching Darby play it. I'd love to see this version ported to the Genesis or Master System to see it all come full circle.

Lightning shield is my favorite, but as a kid Fire shield was the coolest. Also yes plz to an episode 2. This was cool, and you seemed to have fun playing it.

My favorite shiled in Sonic is the regular shield because it protects you and the flame shield because you could like crazy and the bubble shield because it helps you breat underwater and it makes you bounce really high

This was like a Master Mania but the original storyline with added details like before Tails got foxnapped and Sonic 3 style transitions, Hilltop zone palletes in Sky High...

The hand drawn graphics remind me of the work WayForward Games have done with Shantae and DuckTales Remastered, but also there's the Wario game that came out on Wii and Wonder Boy and the Dragon's Trap (from the Sega Master System) that also use amazing hand drawn graphics too. It's a beautiful aesthetic. I wouldn't mind a SMW2 Yoshi's Island remake with it *actually* hand drawn and not pixel art.

Some of the art doesn't live up to expectations in comparison. I've never seen how faithful it is though and haven't played either. The level design though is really good from my perspective. Gold Peak Tea is a favorite of mine.

Oh hey it's using the open surge game engine. Open Surge is a wip sonic like game that doesn't use any of Sega's copyrighted assets, currently has two zones(plus older variants still accessible) and some test/demo stuff.

This fan game is really gorgeous even with drawen graphics style. 🙂 Although I didn't played Sonic 2 SMS version, I can admit that Master System game has very good music (I have heard some of remixes from various sites). btw, there's this thing of people assuming in the "bad ending" of Sonic 2 (8-bit) Tails gets killed off-camera, as Sonic is looking to the stars where Tails' face is displayed, but this is debunked by the "good ending" of that game, as it has the same looking to the stars in the sky scene from the "bad ending" of the game, but Tails is with Sonic on the ground, while in the starry sky, you see both Sonic's and Tails' faces are displayed in the night sky. Since those two endings have that very similar scene, it's debunked that Tails dies in Sonic 2 (8-bit) when he actually didn't. Sonic just fails to rescue Tails is all in the bad ending

My favourite beverage is -THE BLOOD OF MY VANQUISHED ENEMIES- hot, strong, milky Assam tea. It’s a delicious Indian variety of tea, related to normal Chinese tea but it has a warm, malty flavour too that’s just so comforting and gives the tea a little richness.

From my understanding, Sonic 2 on the Master System is basically the same game as the Gamegear Sonic 2, just that you have a bigger screen on the Master System and can properly see ahead, since the screen isn't as tiny as the Gamegear is

The first bit of the first level was a 1-1 Green Hill Zone Act 1, I should know, I play that one like every few days 10 times each, usually emerald farming in sonic 1 mobile
