Sonic Fan Showcase : Sonic Dimensions 

Thank you for the review, MegaGWolf! It was nice to watch a proper critique of this old relic after all this time, as it gave me a bit of perspective. This engine is a heavily modified version of the Sonic Blitz3D engine, which is still being used today for various fan game projects. So, if you'd like to see where this engine could have gone if I had continued work, check out some of them!

I've noticed quite a few people in the comments saying they didn't like this game, but for what it was, I thought it was pretty good. The levels are pretty barren, true, and the infinite falling can be annoying, but once you get used to the controls and play it like a time attack, it's pretty fun. I kind of hope the guy who developed it is still working on it....

Goodness, silly me! I made a typo! "home" should be "hope." Also, it should be noted that I am also the lead designer of Sonic GDK's Green Hill Paradise demo! So, as you can see from that previous review of THAT engine, my skills greatly improved between the completion of Sonic Dimensions and GDK.

sonic dimensions is now the name of an official sonic "game". *cough Lego dimensions cough cough!

This was made way before that rumor started. And they used the Blitz Sonic Engine, but enhanced it greatly.

Well MegaGWolf, at least the "Green Hill Ocean" level in this game is very non-linear and explorable . Yes it still feels a bit empty, but there are plenty of alternate routes to take and hidden things to find. Definately the strongest level in the game.

You know I have an idea for a "Mario Dimensions" Game which is pretty much a Mario version of 'Sonic Generations' only it's a 'Dimension Hopping' adventure staring 'Mainstream Mario' & 'Paper Mario', who must stop 'Mainstream & Paper Bowsers' who pilot a monster called the 'Space Breaker' who is erasing the 'Dimensional Barriers' that separate their 2 universes but is also causes temporal anomalies that are messing up time & space & will ultimately destroy both worlds if the merging is complete.

This engine reminds me a bit of the Danmaku Time engine, where it's just the framework and ultimately everything is up to the person working with the engine.

I'm shocked that not one person has talked about how laggy the first 2 stages are! Also, has anyone else changed Sonic's skin in this game besides me? So far, I have Scourge, Classic Sonic and I'm still trying to figure out how to change the shoes so the Shadow skin can be complete.

Ya, like we have 2 different versions of each level, 1 that's done in the unique style of Paper Mario & you play it in a 2-D format, and the other 1 is done in the modern day style of Mainstream Mario & you play it in a 3-D format & each Mario would not just be able to use power-ups but would also have his own unique abilities to traverse each level.

That would be cool! Playing remade levels from previous Mario games will be fun! :D

this game gives you a sense of sonic's speed.(ps. that level in acosta does not have a finish ring at the end lol i tried for like 15 minutes)

The camera shows what you see and sonic so its like the camera is your eyes

levels are nearly empty because placing objects is hell. you have to type in all 3d space objects in the xml file

GWolf, please try a game called Sonic: The Fated Hour. it's 2008 SAGE Demo has stuff that i just love in Sonic Games: a shop and stuff to buy from it, high speeds, multiple paths with exploration, challening platforming and a somewhat good story. yeah the story isn't really there but it's at least better than 06's.

And the 3-D levels will be kinda like Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy levels. :D

The only problem with this series is that all the games are Windows only. All I have as Windows is a slow pc with a defective mouse and a small laptop with arrow keys that are to small. ALL THE REST ARE MACS!

Oh, and the levels were made by different people.

If you want a good blitz sonic engine why not check out blitz sonic ultra. you can easily find that on google if you look for demo 3 of the engine or you can try out blitz sonic heroes by ozcrashsonic if you like the concept of sonic heroes.

That's what I was thinking too.

There is another sonic 3d fangame called Sonic BGE Anniversary, and it uses mouse controls. Just saying.

i remember having this game ONLY 3 LEVELS WORKED the others just LAGGED AND LAGGED AND LAGGED to the point of it being a slideshow the creator ignored the problems that everyone stated in his videos so the game never got fixed deleted it 3 days after

I played this... thing once, and i thought it was a glitchy and boring piece of shit honestly. I didn't know about the Home button thing though, so i had to reset every time i fell into somewhere i couldn't escape from. Which was quite often, actually.
