Basically Amy, tails and knuckles are stuck in cyberspace which are those pods. You have to collect the characters memories while you earn the chaos emeralds to fight giganto. The reason sonic transformed back to normal was that he ran out of rings.

I played Sonic Frontiers and it's like my favorite Sonic game of all time! The story is great, the gameplay is fun, and the characters have really great interactions. The game got 3 updates throughout the year, with the third one being the Final horizon that released in September (you probably saw the teaser at gamescom) adding new playable characters and completly revamping the final act of the game (Because a lot of people didn't like the original ending/Boss fight) It's actually funny you posted this video now cuz it's the one year anniversary of it's (Base game) release, lol. (Also, yes Sonic does get chucked into the mountain, only once tho.)

Sonic as a whole is split 50/50, half the people wanna burn it at the stake, and the other half praise it like a gemstone on a pedestal. I'm one of those next to the pedestal, but you'll NEVER catch me doing sus stuff like the extreme fans.

it took me a long time to like this game but now i do. the cyber space levels are really good when you get the hang of them. the dlc that just came out made it better. not reall because of sonic but because you get to play as amy, knuckles and tails. it's not perfect but i really felt like i was playing what a sonic adventure 3 could have been like.
