I have a question for you if the ancient sealed the end in the supreme Titan then why do the other Titans count as seals for the end and why do we have to shut down towers got to be a part of some kind of locking that keeps her inside cyberspace
This is a very nice explanation, it was pretty much the story I put together as well. I also think that branching from the Ancients became the Chao, Chaos must have been the last Ancient that did not morph to a significant degree, so he was set to protect the Chao and the emeralds
Exactly. It’s wild how I thought the Sonic story was about a blue hedgehog running fast around the world which I guess is part of it. If younger me heard about the lore surrounding the ancients and the chaos emeralds I’d be awestruck.
6:15 So this is where I disagree. It’s pretty clear on this one. Sage says a few times that her main function is to protect Eggman. Once she saw the Ancients’ memories when she integrated with cyberspace, Eggman was pulled in for his own protection. When Sonic and (company) travel to the Starfall Islands, Sage traps them all in cyberspace because she saw them as “unknown variables”; this is something she talks about when you speak with her on Ouranos island. In other words, Sage knew that Eggman would be safe in cyberspace, but she did NOT know if that safety could be guaranteed once Sonic and co. showed up-hence, why she locked up Sonic’s friends. Sonic was the only one able to escape cyberspace, which surprises Sage (there are some dialogue points on Kronos where Sage asks Sonic how he managed to escape cyberspace). Turns out, Sonic was able to escape because he projected his own memories onto cyberspace, which were familiar enough that he was able navigate through in order to find exits. It is also implied he was fast enough to avoid Sage’s traps, and unlike his friends, could also stand a fighting chance against the Titans. Sage knew she couldn’t trap Sonic anymore since he could simply escape, so she resorted to beating the everliving crap out of him until he decided it was time to leave (of course, he never gives up). Sage’s programming was centered around the preservation of her father-Eggman. At many points, she COULD HAVE gotten him out of cyberspace, but as she points out, there was no scenario where taking him out of cyberspace would allow him to live for very long.
You know Sometimes I wonder if Sage was keeping valuable information away from Eggman in order to keep him in Cyberspace As while Eggman wanted Sage to figure a way out for him, that in turn went directly against her initial directive of protecting him So my theory is that she withheld information on how to escape Cyberspace so that she could keep him in there long enough for her to figure out a solution to keeping The End from breaching it's containment
This story does not hold you’re hand and that’s what I like about it The final boss The End explains more of what it is in the final fight . It has traveled across countless worlds and flames to destroy them as the infinite void . There must be a sonic frontiers 2
Theory time: The Ancients created the Phantom Ruby. The Phantom Ruby was never given an origin despite how interesting its powers were and they kinda wasted it in that way, but it seems Ian Flynn decided to save it from the scrap heap. The Phantom Ruby, the Ancients robots, and even The End itself all share similar designs aesthetics. They both have that same red and purple glitch/smoke effect. It's almost identical. Beyond that, Cyberspace is eerily similar in nature to the Ruby's powers. They both create artificial reality based on the memories and will of the one involved. The creatures sonic fights throughout Frontiers seem to be created from Cyberspace and all fade away after defeat, just like Infinite and his phantom clones. The End could create a form for itself out of absolutely nothing, not unlike the Phantom Ruby's constucts. The End describes itself as "I am Infinite, I am nothing," Which both reflects the name the one who had the most contact with the Ruby took, and how the constructs created by both the Ruby and Cyberspace have both mass and form and are simultaneously nonexistent illusions. The Ruby exhibited its greatest power when exposed to the Chaos Emeralds, and the Ancients made their tech to be powered by them. Lastly exposure to Cyberspace and The End's power granted Sage higher sentience, just like the Ruby did for the Hard Boiled Heavies. The similarities between The End's abilities and the Ancients tech makes me think they created it by observing him. Perhaps they even held The End captive at one point and studied it before it escaped and destroyed their world. I believe the Phantom Ruby is an evolution of Cyberspace tech that the Ancients who fled to angel island created. They wanted to be able to keep viewing their homeworld like they did through Cyberspace and perhaps even to see their deceased love ones. So, they created the Ruby to both create portable Cyberspaces and create replicas of people they had data of in their archives. Just like the rest of their tech, the ruby was corrupted by The End and drove those who used it mad. The red glitch effects indicate The End's corruption, whereas blue is uncorrupted. The constant exposure due to their addiction to the ruby degraded their DNA, transforming them into the Chao. The Ruby laid buried on Angel Island until the Hard Boiled heavies discovered it in the Mania timeline.
Hopefully next game Eggman modifies Orbot and Cubot to fold, like they seem designed to do, and become kinda like artificial Koco. But instead of recording data from outside, they would project new boss enemies, artifical Chaos's that act as Orbot's and Cubot's semi-virtual bodies.
2:54 that's what I've been thinking about. Were they planning on using the Master Emerald and transform the Chaos Emeralds into Super Emeralds? I know that's not canon, but that scene makes that possibilities soo explicit.
Just the thought of the Ancients being the ancestors of Chaos is pretty cool! Not only that, I think it’s a pretty interesting theory of the Ancients that moved to Angel Island became the Chao from the infection. You actually make a pretty good point there since Chaos has a good connection with the Chao.👍
It did say in one of the lines for its dialogue that the planet-like entity was only one of its incarnations, if its true then I wonder if The End really is the most dangerous force from Sonic's World we've encountered yet.
You've explained this very well, thank you! Now I'll turn to this video if I want to discuss the story/lore with my friends who might also have been as confused as I was :'D
I like how Sage and The End are similar in the Japanese version. Their purpose is the protection of all life forms by deviation from physical bodies. But Sage overcomes this bias at last and finishes the entity with Sonic who can transcend even fate. This is so meaningful.
I'm willing to bet the chaos emeralds weren't created by this alien race. They likely just found those things too. What I want to know is how is Sonic Boom canon in this game's time line? Amy mentioned Sticks in a cutscene. Sticks is a Boom character.
There is a main series incarnation of Sticks. She has a profile on Sonic Channel, appeared in the Sonic Channel anniversary comic, and I think she also appeared in at least once in the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games series.
No it is canon it’s just a different universe, it’s probably a similar lore but some different events I domt think it matters much in the norm universe
The story of this game is eerily similar to Legend of Zelda: Majora’s mask, but instead of sumonning giants, you defeat them. The story about people doing their hardest to prevent the end of the wold (civilization) is the same.
Sonic frontiers is a well written story. Kudos to Ian Flynn and his magnificent writing. He needs to be the head for sonic stories from now on. His zombie arc as well is also what we need for more sonic stories in the future.
@@Z3RO5286 explain honestly I like the game but without this video making me appreciate it a tad more but the story in game doesn't explain or properly portray any of the elements used in good stories
SPOILER ALERT: For the record it’s another story where an alien race brings their problems to Sonics planet. This isn’t the only Sonic game where beings from another bring Armageddon to our front door step. Sonic Riders zero gravity Babylon Garden is one of them. Babylonians brought a stone power units that are power enough to conjure a black hole. Just throwing that out there.
Man, I had no idea that players who play on Easy or Normal get absolutely shafted on that last boss encounter. I played on hard and was telling my buddy how much I struggled with the bullet hell towards the end of it and he was confused because he played on normal. He showed me the cutscene and I was like wow… they tease you with the top down view and just skip to the quick time event 😂 Play on Hard mode or at least switch it to hard before the final boss so you can see how the end is supposed to play out
3:48 I'm probably gonna have to disagree there. To me, it seems more like chaos is a devolved chao. Technically mutated, in a similar vein to mutating a human back into an ape.
@@kingades1013 Sort of, when Perfect Chaos attacked the Echidna tribe, Tikal sealed him inside the Master Emerald, as a side effect, she was also sealed away and Angel Island started floating.
I was actually thinking they were related to Chaos in some way because they were the ones with the Chaos Emeralds before any of the Mobians like the Equidna tribe and such.
I still can't believe safe wasn't what we thought... I had a feeling that sage was Eggmans AI. But I still don't get how sage has a physical and cyber form...
almost everything on the starfall islands is made of cyber stuff. sage is simply manifesting herself in the same way all the enemies are. that's why she doesn't have a physical form when eggman brings her back in the end. she's on his computer, and thus, doesn't have access to cyberspace.
Giving the secret ending, I think he could set up perfectly for another try at a Shadow the Hedgehog standalone game, where the story involves him and Team Dark doing a favor for Eggman to recover what I would assume is a equivalent of a black box from the supreme titen that may have Sage in it.
i think they evolved into the chao and the master emerald mutaded chaos back to a more ancient look, it's like a dinosaur turning into a chicken evolution is just weird sometimes
So the Chao who’d become Chaos wasn’t mutated by its power but instead it was the other way around. The energy somehow undid the mutation and reverted Chaos back to a familiar enough form to protect the Master Emerald.
The part that I'm actually still confused on Is why the chaos Emeralds are still connected to The Titans If the ancients Said If the plan fails They were going to keep the chaos emeralds in angel island
Sage attracted the emeralds to the starfall islands to get the ancient tech back online so that she could potentially fight the end. She explains this to Sonic in a late game cutscene.
The End. A manipulative entity bent on pure destruction, completely destroying planets and murdering civilians. All of the villainous beings from previous games were all caused by The End. Chaos getting corrupted and becoming this water monster flooding a city. Gerald creating the Bio Lizard and setting the ARK to crash into earth. Metal Sonic transforming into a metallic overlord. Black Doom and his army invading Earth and using chaos control to warp the Black Commit to Earth. Mephiles killing Sonic to release Iblis from Elise, fusing with Iblis to become Solaris. Dark Gaia destroys the Earth and breaking it apart. Sonic and Sage may have defeated The End, but there’s a chance that it will return.
But where did the Master Emerald come from? I get that it was originally on Earth, but it's just lying on the grass, as if someone excavated it and brought it to the surface. My guess is that the Master Emerald fell from space inside of an asteroid or meteorite, and flew off when it crashed into the Earth. The meteorite would be unrecognizable from any other comet or star shower, hence the name "Starfall".
Now I’m confused as to how all this ties into Unleashed. If the emeralds are from space, then how were the gaia temples able to work with them? It was implied that the emeralds were as old as the planet itself
How the Gaia Temples came to work with them we don't fully know yet but the emeralds were never said to be old as the planet itself. That was what was assumed by human research, as far as they had known the emeralds are as old as the planet. They're really really old alright just not as old as Earth.
Ok that makes sense but what’s the Master Emeralds deal what’s its origin and why is it on Earth? Also why is it connected to the chaos emeralds and why does it turn chaos emeralds to super emeralds
For your next video, can you please to a vid of how Sonic Frontiers saved Tails. I know you did a vid of how Tails was ruined as a character but in this game, he changed and fixed him. So yeah.
This video is wonderful! When i finished the game i did not understood everything about the story so yes it is very helpful. Thanks for the high quality keep it UP!
I am satisfied and happy with the script as a whole, it's definitely worthy of a spot with scripts in games like Black Knight, Unleashed and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. All Meta Era games are at the bottom, the 2010s was underwhelming and aggravating, there was so much lack of effort and quality from cutscenes, script and game itself, I just REEEEALLY hope we don't revert back to that Era of quality, I don't want games to feel small, lacking and not AAA.
I'm glad i uninstalled this game. Absolutely stupid storyline, I don't know what they were smoking or drinking when they wrote the storyline for this game. After 15 hours of playing I decided to stop and uninstall. I honestly think the Sonic 06 was better and that game sucked.
My Theory still seems accurate because Tails says the program in Zero Gravity that made the robots go berserk is maybe *made by the Ancient Babylonians* or maybe *someone even more ancient* which the fact he says not just Ancient Babylonians but another Ancient Individual makes it obvious that that even more Ancient someone is well an Ancient.
Wait so, where do the enemies come from? Are they just things sent from cyberspace from “The End?” Or are they manifestations of “The End” itself in different forms?
hey Sonicsta can you make a theory video on Sonic Prime takes place after Sonic frontiers since it was confirmed that Sonic Prime is cannon to the games 😁😁
The koco follow elders still alive, don't follow just past. Maybe the ancients modifed their charms fusion with them able to have children an children having charms too?
Go work for SEGA and Sonic Team as their Lore Master!! There is an actual online position for SEGA Sonic Team to find somone well versed and educated in ALL the lore of Sonic the Hedgehog! This includes finding unique creative and meaningful ways of tying in EVERYTHING AS CANNON and your explanation of Chao being the Ancients actually makes sense! And thanx to you I FINALLY understand this game's mysterious story! Honest to Chaos I never understood it until now!
Yeah no lol, calm down there kiddo. A lore explanation video does not equal "YoU'rE a MaStEr On SoNiC lOrE aNd ShOuLd WoRk FoR sOnIc TeAm AnD sEgA!" Like lmao chill.
The story of the ancients reminded me of a creepypasta called: dead space. where humans explore other planets looking for aliens... and find no one, they know they existed because they built cities and traveled to other worlds, but then they all disappeared... no one is left... maybe even the aliens had religions and in some of them there is the famous prophesied end that indicates the end of everything and everyone? Perhaps for the ancients of the game it is the same, the myth of the apocalypse that comes to get them and in order to fulfill its purpose chases them throughout the space until it has found them.
You know the thing is, the story is pretty decent and provides a lot of important context to the overall lore. “The End” isn’t even that bad a concept, I just think the way it was presented was underwhelming, especially as a boss fight, considering how high boss fight expectations became early on in the game.
I think it's because at the end they ran out of money so some ideas and contents were cut off Which is pretty sad I wonder what it would have been like if it a bigger budget.
Eggman áudio files and the Divergence Prologue animation, that shows a cyber space portal in angel Island, and cyber space portals are Ancient tecnology, and, Chaos? Like HELLO???
The Echidna tribe could predict the future (at least partially. If they had the power to predict the future with accuracy, they would still be alive to this day). That's a theory I have, but we can assume that's true because of that mural inside Hidden Palace Zone, the one that's referencing Super/Hyper Sonic fighting Eggman with the Master Emerald between the two. They probably knew that the Chaos Emeralds would come to the Earth eventually.
It's not from Earth, it just being shown on Earth doesn't mean it originated there. A buuuunch of people in this comment section to not think at all and just let their brains fly all over the place. Like think lol
Still don't 100% understand. What do the ancients have to do with Choas? How has the Master Emerald created and why isn't it with the chaos emeralds? Why did Sonic need to destroy the titans to free everyone from cyberspace? Why did Sage draw the emeralds there? If she doesn't want The End to get out, why did she cause it?
Basically Choas is same species as ancients he was just able to live somehow with the power of the master emerald which turned him into that big water dragon.later on the echidnas found it.we don’t know where the master emerald is from it could of crashed on earth from a meteor or something and it called the choas emeralds to it.and sage put all of sonics friends in cyber space to prevent them from freeing Eggman since she put him in cyber space to stop the end from destroying him since she is programmed to protect him at all cost sonic was just able to escape somehow.that’s why they all were free when the end was destroyed cuz sage died so she couldn’t keep them there anymore
@@princebealalthe3rd732 No they were all freed before Sage died after Sonic turned off the towers. If the titans don't do anything then why wouldn't she just tell him that to stop sonic? Why did she need the titans? But they went to the islands because she drew the emeralds there. Why? If she didn't, The End wouldn't have a chance of getting out.
To answer the original question from my own personal knowledge and assumptions : 1. Eggman seems to imply that Chaos and the Ancients are relatives. He also said something about the Ancients' DNA being corroded and turned them into completely different thing. The Ancients turning into Chao is never really mentioned, but it's very likely considering Chaos' origin being a mutated Chao. 2. The Master Emerald is somehow originating from Earth. There's no explanation on that, and I don't think even the Ancients knew much about it other than the Emeralds being attracted to it. 3.The End instructed Sonic to destroy the Titans in order to free his friends, most likely because the Titans are part of the Cyberspace's seal. It's kinda shortsightedness in Sonic's part, but to be fair, there's nobody else who would give him direction. Sage, most likely due to her programming, would not give any information due to Sonic being an enemy. It wouldn't be that far off for Eggman to program Sage so strictly that she's basically unable to help Sonic (or any of Eggman's enemies) unless specifically authorized. 4. I'm very certain Sage did not draw the Emeralds there. The Emeralds were either already there (most likely) before Eggman arrived and installed Sage in. 5. Sage definitely did not cause The End to get out. If anything, her attempts to kill Sonic earlier would be more in line on preventing it.
