Thanks so much! I thought about just doing the whole, play in real time to the camera and talk about it as i go but, especially for this one, i just wanted to play all the sounds and let the viewer make up their own mind
Lack of a switch: That's the whole point, it's an always on thing for when you're not using a cabinet, but straight into your IEM and the FOH desk.. Hence the XLR out
For the on-off, I believe you can delete one of the presets. Then, the respective position essentially does nothing, so it's like you've turned the pedal off ;)
4:12 - I find that on most pedals you can unscrew the base plate; flip it round so the rubber faces the circuitry and then you can put the Velcro on the metal that’s now on the outside! This means, with you undoing four screws, you can have either or and you can also put it back to a nice clean normal version if you ever need to resell 😉
Have you tried the XLR out? No ground lift ? But does the XLR out also carry the IRs? Does the XLR out allow disconnect the 1/4 inch ? (e.g. monitor and FOH could be used simultaneously if it does not depending on run etc)....Cheers
@@harrychrisrobin Fair enough. Thanks for your response. I looked at a couple of other reviews on YT and never saw anything exploring more. Seen them on eBay for almost ridiculous bargain prices now and so might get one anyway to play with / put in as part of a cheap small gig saver solution/end up in the draw full of stuff I need to thin. Alot of this cheaper end stuff is good at the price but you need something else to really make it work versus just paying a bit more to start with, but if beer falls on this and the other cheap thing goes unscathed that's a good thing and at the now price it's less than a case of beer. Price for everything LOL
I should be getting mine delivered today. I play at church, where everything is direct to board. I've used the NUX Solid Studio (XLR out), the Digitech Cabdryver (with Direct Box), and my Valeton GP100 (with direct box). Your complaint with not having an on/off button is the opposite of my complaint with the Nux and Digitech. Every time I power on my board, I have to remember to turn my "cabinet" one as well. I mean, realistically, how often do you turn "off" an actual cabinet? Especially in a live setting. I can understand recording, etc....but for using live, I want my cabinet on at all times.
That’s awesome, I hope you enjoy it when it comes. I totally understand your issue of not wanting the cabinet being turned off ever. I like to see this pedal as an effect to bring in and out rather than keeping it on all the time
@@harrychrisrobin Thanks....I'm looking forward to the small form factor. On the Nux, which I use regularly, the advantage with the presets is mic selection and placement....but since I load all of my own IRs with preset mic and position placement, it makes that on board feature irrelevant. I also run stereo into the house....so having 2 of these on my board, rather than 2 much larger pedals just makes sense.
Awesome video and review about this pedal I think it has a lot of utility and the cabs sounded me accurate . importing personal IR is also a very good aspect! Maybe in your covers you should make one with the pedal and compare it with a virtual cab sim to see differences or build like a rig using your pedals then like a preamp pedal and then the sonic ir to see if it could replace a real amp or be close to a truth one. Keep going with the great job 👏
Thanks so much. That’s a great idea tbh. I already simulate my amp rig. The rig you hear in my covers is made up of 5 amps blended together. I could look into making more videos with the IR to see how it compares. Great idea 🤟
so how do you get a new IR file to import? how do we make them? there website is down.. I got this per suggestion for a direct box for acoustic going direct as well as cab sim for electric going direct. this is kind of a mess
