"completely eliminate using a computer for production until mastering." NOT gonna happen, unless you only record analog instruments. If you own vsts and want to incorporate them into your music, you WILL NEED to use a computer.

If I got this, I would still use my computer. For multi tracking more than 4 hardware instruments for example.

I realize this may be too late to leave a reply, but I believe got the idea from the soundtrack from the tv show "Now and Again - Give me a sign". If you're interested you can do a search on RU-vid, you should be able to find it.

rbwduece maschine doesn't yet have audio tracks though.. just the ability to record samples you can trigger.. its coming soon though.. along with realtime stretching/pitch shifting

Thanks! I just found out about this and ordered mine yesterday! The final release date is Mid-June. Akai confirmed no push backs but wouldn't confirm a date for me.

Wow, MPC software 2.0 was supposed to have been released last year, but wasn't. Akai announces MPC X and Live early 2017 and shoots for a 1st quarter release date. Now we're looking at mid June? I don't get it. What is wrong, the software or hardware? Andy has been giving demos of both the hardware and software (less of the software) for several months now and there are several testers who already have both the hardware and software and they all claim that it's better than before and are impressed. Seems to me Akai has pushed the released back from a 1st quarter release to mid June because pre orders were weak and they want to be sure there's adequate demand for the new hardware. Those of us who already have an MPC Ren, Studio, Element or Touch should not be forced to wait for the new hardware before we can use the new software if the new software is fully compatible with the older controllers.

According to the FAQ: MPC 2.0 will be supported for Windows 8.1 and up, and Mac OS X 10.10 and up.

yeah thats pretty neat - though it will use up your available live tracks - 8 total available, but you do get plenty of stereo voices for samples and what not.

dbfs Daily Beat FreeStyle actually you can bitcrush the audio just like the mpc60 but the whole purpose of 12bit audio was to reduce the file size. It's also worth noting that the a/d converters on the older mpcs are inferior 2 modern day a/d converters. btw the mpc3000 was 16bit mono.

correction: the MPC 3000 was 16bit stereo. Older mpc's where not inferior on the a/d side either. Japanese audio components all the way and heavy duty power supplies made for the job. Sorry but this new MPC looks great but I'm not convinced with its sound or midi timing

the first MPC3000 before the MKII were 16 bit mono! The a/d converters on that machine had a very high signal to noise ratio. You gotta be out your mind if you think a/d converters haven't improved since 1988

I think your confused mate. The MPC 60 had a mk1 and mk2 and where mono. The 3000 was always stereo and only ever came out as that or the upgraded MPC3000LE. Im not out of my mind mate. I just know what I hear, and what I hear is the sum of all parts that are built to work together. No MPC sounds like the 60 or 3000.

gatlinproduction Connect it to your PC and look into the file structures. There should be a folder in every project with all your samples in them. Just sold mine so can't look it up for you, but it is there, and it is a massive job. I would start from scratch tbh

awkwardsquadproject im still not dumping my mv for this. except for the touch screen and cv its not adding too much new stuff. mv still does 128 tracks midi + 8 audio.

I guess it isn't. Most would probably use it as an advanced beat making machine, and a few would use it as a full fledged daw. But what do i know. I probably never use more than 5-8 track's at once. But even if i used 50 i don't think the screen size would be too much of a problem. From what i seen both the 7" and 10" screens are high res oled's. Combining that with easy to use controllers you should be fine. But i see what you mean, for that kind of work a bigger screen would be the better option of course. But, you can hook the MPC up to your pc in controller mode to gain access to a bigger screen if that's what you like. For a portable music making device i say Akai seems to have done a great job. But we'll see when the unit's actually ship's how it will be received. SOS gave the live a great review. I think it will be a hit if Akai can sort out most of the bugs in version 2.0. to come. Now let's hope they ship it before Christmas lol..

It's easy to see why they didn't put a monitor out on the Live. Like you said, cost is one thing - and you have controller mode. Personally i would like to see a tilted screen on the Live. Maybe a bit larger one and/or a detachable one in both unit's. The great thing is you don't have to use the touch screen if you don't want to. On the X this should be easier than on the live as you have more control buttons. Especially the cursor/enter keys on the X will help a lot in that regard. Still, until it's out we can only speculate how it will be using the thing.

Robert Garvan Snyder still think the mpcx is the better buy since you create and use acid loops. I'm not a fan of elektrons work flow or their small pads

Ave Mcree, Transparency... That's the elephant in the room with Akai. I doubt anyone can name one Akai/InMusic product that lived up to the sales pitch. There are multiple examples in this video of the touch screen being sketchy and every time Nick asks a question he is cut off and distracted by some other feature. Typical used car salesman tactics. "Exactly, you said it- not me, let them believe that... Look what happens when I turn the shiny squirrel knob!!!". I want to love this, but Akai's track record is "Bait and Switch". Mark my words, 6 months after this is finally released and flops, they will release a version capable of running 3rd party VST's. It will be grey and named the "MPC X-buzzword plus".

Yeah really, really, tried to make it sound like the audio units/vst’s got saved into the MPC when he transferred the project back over. Really shady salesmanship. Why lie? It’s only going to lead to people being disappointed.

I hope so. I still wouldn't mind having one of these, even if it won't do everything I'd like standalone. I like those OLEDS over the 16 encoders. Or maybe an MPC Live 2.

I think this will make an impact on their sales. I noticed maschine studio came down in price not long after this was announced. I dont know if they will make a standalone maschine though, i would be surprised if they did.

NI have been dragging their feet when it comes to an update to Maschine but since this was released they must be working hard on something.
