Extra props to the creator. This was very well done and very creative. Also I like how the mice are red and green, giving a little Christmas decor to this winter level (assuming that was intentional, since I know they're meant to take the place of the penguins, so the palette messing up could have done this).
i fuckin agree... thsy relaly shouldve brought that back ;_; Ice cap is my most favorite zone in sonic 3 standalone and when it comes to sonic & knuckles standalone, it's flying battery, both of them are my most favorite zones.
I don't think this is how Ice Cap sounded if they weren't tied to the Genesis' possibilities. Just listen to "Hard times" by the Jetzons. This sounds much closer even to what they made on the Genesis.
It's crazy how most zones throughout the sonic games can match up with each other Like the fact studiopolis , chemical plant , and possibly metropolis can be considered all next to each other (CPZ being under Studiopolis zone )
A near-perfect combination of the sliding ice mechanic from Press Garden and Ice Cap's slopes for momentum. Looks pretty damn good. The couple of parts where the sliding gets cut off by solid platforms are a momentum killer. The only suggestion I could make is making those icicle platforms breakable when you're frozen and sliding across the spikes.
@@sonicthehedgehog8280 Yes. Fuck the most recently critically acclaimed Sonic game. Fuck the Sonic game that everyone thinks is the best one we've had in a long time. Stay in or go back to school, kid.
They’re probably do a Sonic Mania 2, some day. If so; The Main zones, I want are; Starlight Zone (Favourite Sonic 1 zone) Aquatic Ruin Zone Ice Cap Zone Wood Zone (Unused Zone From Sonic 2) Genocide City (Unused Zone From Sonic 2) Launch Base Zone Casino Night Zone Death Egg Zone Sky Sanctionary Zone Mystic Cave Zone.
@@kapwns Well, first you should probably consider the collections they sell, then emulation as a last resort. But, if you can get an original console with the original games, I'd highly recommend it. It's truly magical, and won't have inaccuracies that emulators have, both official and unofficial.
Playing the original game on the original hardware is the real good shit out there. No re-release, no remake, nothing will give the same experience as the real, original hardware on which it was first released.
@@Whfox If you're doing what White Fox said, I would HIGHLY suggest the Mega Everdrive from Krikkz/StoneAgeGamer. They're built to have the exact same shape, power consumption, and everything else of an official cartridge, so there's no risk of lowering the system's lifespan. Also, if you like weirdly-colored cartridges, you can get any of like 20 colors for an extra $5 on top of the cost of the everdrive variant.
I get that coding is long, tedious, and sometimes hard as nails, but how can you have Ice Cap Zone 1 without the Snowboarding sequence for Sonic? That's just blasphemous. Still, nice.
Now THIS would've been absolutely awesome to have in Mania. I feel like this and Metropolis would've been far better picks than stuff like Oil Ocean. However, copyright issues are copyright issues, and those hard times haven't quite gone by yet. Copyright issues for Ice Cap only though. I was surprised when I learned that Metropolis wouldn't be in the lineup until I saw Metallic Madness, which ended up being one of my favourites out of the game. EDIT: okay so at the time of making this comment, I was not aware that copyright wasn't the reason why. when MJ was working with SEGA on STH3, he actually stepped out of the project due to not liking how his vocals sounded on the Genesis, but he let the company still use his music. In other words, SEGA, for whatever reason, just seems to be avoiding using it.
Or MJs controversies. Sega will change someone's face in a game if they are accused of a drug offence (and are exonerated), and write their character out of the series. They don't take risks with lawyers.
Does Sega have a Thing Against Ice Levels? I Swear Sonic Generations or Sonic Mania didn't have this Level and they should have put them in the Game Kudos to this Person Recreating the Level to work with Sonic Mania!
Now I wish they had all the classic stages IN MANIA STYLE, sonic origins is cool and all but I think it would be nice to have all the games in mania style
This is why I like Sonic Mania. They remastered old-school zones with adding modern 2D graphics, remixing music of these zones and changing their route carefully. But... That was a mistake to not to include this zone in game.
1:41 Uh...This is awkward. If you have an elemental shield, those spikes around those enemies will disappear upon contact. At least in the original Sonic 3..
They should add Ice cap zone as an alternative (or secret) route in Sonic mania For example, you press a hidden switch (in flying battery) that makes the gliders head to Ice Cap zone.
it needs a new layout because its just the same 1 as sonic 3 but still its very good and u should have made sonic snowboard at the start and what zone does it come after
Mainly the music because the copyright issues, hints how sonic origin’s ice cap zone has different music than the original, I am aware this is an old comment, I just wanted to answer.
