Absolutely would like to see more commentary. I just started teaching myself how to do some 3D modeling, so hearing about that is really interesting to me.
Man, feels like an eternity isince the last Melponterations update. I'd love to hear more mod development commentary alongside the later updates, hearing the nitty gritty of how it all works makes it even more interesting to see in action.
Oh, hello there! I’m keen to see both gameplay and developer commentary on progress as hearing the development process I find very interesting. Looking forward to future updates! 👍🏻
The developer commentary is really nice, these just show how much effort goes into these amazing mods. Still awesome how Generations is kept alive by the community.
Did not expect a Melponterations update but that's quite a visual upgrade there, nice work. Dev commentary is good, nice to hear about the process of working on the stage.
Seeing this come up on my subs feed made me inexplicably happy.... omg As for the updates themselves, while seeing the gameplay alone is cool on its own I'd definitely love to hear more commentary on them. Always enjoy hearing about mod-making and the stuff that happens during that process!
Oh, cool!! I'm glad to see this project being picked back up. I'm personally down for some updates with developer commentary. Sounds like it'd be interesting.
Keep the commentary. Seeing raw gameplay is nice, but I also enjoy hearing what goes into developing these stages and it makes these viudeos feel meatier.
Man I dig the commentary and i always hope for some to get some insight on how you design stuff. I know you just do these for fun and stuff but I think of you as a pro level designer so its just neat to hear your thought processes.
I’d like to hear some commentary personally, I thought what you had to say was interesting, never thought anyone would go back to this mod and create it from scratch and great job btw
I had no idea you were still working on your Sky Troops stage, the parts you have updated so far are looking nice. I like the developer commentary and I'd like to see more, though it can be nice to get a clean gameplay demo when you're able to do a full run-through of the level. Happy to see you working on this again.
The commentary is lovely, it's really interesting hearing your thoughts on everything and even getting a sneak peak into the process behind it all. This is good content, hope to see more soon!
I'd love to hear additional commentary about your design and thought process ! I haven't been part of the generations modding scene in a long time, so I'd love to be able to catch up on changes that've developed over the years.
I’d like to hear commentary in future vids/updates! I enjoy it and think its really interesting hearing some behind-the-scenes commentary on how the mod is made and how its coming along
Little bit disappointed that it has some 2D parts, since I personally prefer strictly 3D for Modern Sonic. But, regardless of my personal gripe, this stage is and will always be absolutely fantastic. Thanks a bunch, Melpontro, for bringing Sky Troops back to life in Sonic Generations. As for your videos, yeah, I'd definitely keep the commentary, it makes them more.. shall we say.. grasping to watch.
I think a good balance is to start off with developer commentary since speaking as someone who is breaking into some game design, I would find it very valuable. After the developer commentary (or before if people just want gameplay) you could include a quick run through the stage in its current form and just have timestamps to the part most interesting to the viewer. Looking forward to what you've got in store!
The textures were all created back in 2012. But if I recall correctly, it was mostly done by sourcing free to use photos and creating tiling textures out of them, after that I modified them to look as close to the original Sky Troops as I could. Things like the tiling sand was made by manually painting over the main dirt texture IIRC.
Commentary works fine, though I must ask-after you are done with the physical stage itself-if you intend on adding more background details like more ruins and ships to give the player more to look at as they run through the most ridiculous aeronautical naval battle in Sonic's history?
I would actually prefer more commentary. Also, just curious, should the development of this stage gets far ahead, you would add more background elements? If so, are you going to use some of the original stage's model to make it easier?
Dev commentary 100%. I haven't played Generations and it's mods in awhile (my larger hard drive broke and I have limited space for games) so I'd only notice the changes with commentary
Bro if you're doing dev updates that commentary is the best part. Loved Melpontrations' first release! So do you seriously intend to do the whole stage pack now?
Right now my goal is to go through and fix the worst looking models in Sky Troops just to fix some of the more glaring flaws. After that, I'd love to work on another level for the project, but it will entirely depend on how much free time I have outside of my professional work.
