Sonic Origins: Speed Strats - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 

Now we need to see this guy speedrun all the games.

This one was by far my favorite one to help make with the team. Sonic 2 made me the Sonic fan I am today!

Man, I don't know who provides the narration for these videos, but they're fantastic. The "Wait, no...NO NO" at the Casino Night segment is beautiful.

Quick tips for beginners regarding Sonic and Tails single player that the instructions does not tell you: To utilize Tails’ flying ability hold up and press jump twice. Tails will begin to fly and you can aim Sonic’s jump to catch on so that Tails can carry him. Continue pressing the button to go higher. Hold down and press jump to jump off. Special stages are more difficult with both Sonic and Tails. Tails copies Sonic a quarter of a second later so you’ll have to plan ahead to get him to dodge bombs. Also, the amount of rings you need to gather to earn the emerald actually increases when playing with Tails.

I actually do like how this video acknowledges “Wait, Eggman runs faster than Sonic?”

It's been nearly 30 years now since the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. How time flies.

I don’t know why I got so happy as to cheer and clap for the video when the player FINALLY did the Chemical Plant skip

Back when I was a kid, Chemical Plant Zone was THE level to beat; if you got past the rising water, you were considered a legend. Even today I still have PTSD from that one section 😅 I’ve had so many memories with this game, good and bad, and it is definitely one of the best.

Honestly, i hope we get more of these for more games in the future, because they are funny and helpful for those who have not yet expirienced these games.

Tip for the Spin Dash: You actually lose power if you don’t mash fast enough, make sure you release it as fast as possible

Good lord, I love how Eggman outrunning Sonic is acknowledged here in all of its absurd glory. Also, that trick at the end could prove to be quite helpful to those who will be playing Sonic 2 for the very first time through this collection... though that's not implying that I'm already aware of it, mind you.

Tip for the Special Stages: Bringing Tails with you raises the ring requirement up, so I’d recommend playing solo if you want Super Sonic/Super Knuckles and the good ending Keep in mind, Tails is considered easy mode, so he doesn’t have a Super Form, unlike Sonic and Knuckles

Love the fact they added the ability to fly as tails when you control Sonic/Knuckles in single player mode 👌

The unfortunate part of playing with two characters in Sonic 2 is the special stages are way harder as Tails moves a second after you do meaning he's way more likely to get hit by bombs

You can instantly get the Sonic 2 Achievement/Trophy by using the stage select code and finishing death egg. you don’t even have to play the full game. When you startup Sonic 2 at the title screen, use the d-pad code up up up down down down left right left right and you should hear a ring sound. Once you do You have access to stage select, finish death egg zone and you’ll get the achievement/trophy instantly.

I really hope Origins gets a patch to fix Tails' broken AI, where all you hear is him jumping somewhere offscreen and even if you hold up on the d-pad, he doesn't fly to your location!

3:43 A quick tip I myself discovered with the Special Stages in this game: if you jump, you’ll land on the opposite side of the half pipe. For example, if you jump at 8:00, you’ll land at 4:00 and vice versa. You can also jump in the top section of the screen when Sonic isn’t touching the half-pipe and the trick will still work, though you’ll still land back in the half-pipe. I.e., jumping at 10:00 lands at 4:00, and jumping at 2:00 lands at 8:00. Trust me, this gets a lot of use in the later Special Stages.

Well, i don't know why SEGA don't put a Switch Button on this games , to players switch beetween Sonic and Tails, with a few restrictions - On Sonic 1 and Sonic CD, can only play with Sonic. - On Doomsday zone, you need to play with sonic. And, if i remember, the history of Knuckles, on S3&k, pass after Sonic defeat Eggman, when knuckles try to recover the Master Emerald after one of EggBots survive on Sky Sanctuary. They should place the history of knuckles afterr you beat the Doomsday boss, but idk why he don't.
