@CHUCK E. CHEESE Tube actually it is, it's blue and can turn into a ball, it also has the same sounds, like jumping, running, spindashing, etc. It is a bootleg
Hey Retromantra, I've been looking for a download link to the Sparkstar hack, and there doesn't seem to be a surviving host online. Do you know where you downloaded it?
That Sparkster hack looks impressive, they just paste in sonic sprite from another game but at the same time properly edited to not look out of place or broken, looks quite fitting even if its totally not how a sonic game would play
Someone really needed to prove something when they made the SNES clone! ("See the SNES can do blast processing!" Kind of thing!) We all knew the Genesis was fully capable of playing Super Mario so that home brew seems sub par lol!
That or the dev wanted a fun challenge and didn't really care for silly console wars. The homebrew looks pretty impressive to me, I can't remember any other snes game running as fast and smooth. Sure it has way more slowdowns and less resolution than og Sonic, but it's about translating the experience into a system with a much slower cpu clock. And to me it absolutely sucess at it.
@@merluzacongelada5361 oh it's amazing no doubt! It just seems that no homebrewers put that much effort into making a perfect SNES port when moving over a game to the Genesis.
I’m sure a better Mario home brew could be made for the Genesis. The only real issue is the Genesis sound hardware requires good knowledge of it to make it sound as good as it can. The one that looked more like the NES game rather than the all starts looking one definitely had more effort. While the latter is a cheap copy to make some money in foreign markets generally.
Also the SNES port/remake is impressive, but wow the game has trouble handling the rings if you get hit. Blast processing wasn’t really even a thing. The SNES probably could have easily handled the sonic games technically, but targeting multiple systems usually came with a few compromises on one or the other systems. Blast processing was just graphical trickery and the Genesis had a marginally faster clock speed and a co-processor. The SNES had more capable graphical hardware capable of 256 colors at once on screen and the Genesis was 64 usually but sometimes 128 but you had to cycle palettes to pull it off like when Sonic goes underwater. If you knew what you were doing on the Genesis you could make awesome technical graphical showcases and have great music. But trying to get that as close to 1:1 on the SNES and Vice versa was not exactly practical for most budgets then.
Watch the "blast processing" on that snes port. Imagine how much work that had to translate the genesis programing to work on snes. Also sonic the rocket knight hedgehog
Ah yes, Sonic 4 for the SNES. When I first played that, I thought it was a legit game, until I found out years later that it was a bootleg romhack of Speedy Gonzales - Los Gatos Bandidos. I was really THAT gullible back then.
Actually, Super Mario Bros. 2 (bootleg) is a hack of Sonic Jam 6, since Sonic Jam 6 has more bugs, and worse graphics. Besides, Peach also says "Thank you Sonic" in Super Mario Bros. 2.

Isn't sonic 1 for snes is fan proof of concept? Not like bootleg and a real game made in 2020, if I remember it correctly And also Sonic MEGAMIX is a hack, and it has very good quality to be a bootleg
Yeah, it's a modern proper homebrew port made by an actually talented developer and he looked into Sonic 1 disassemblies to do so. It only includes Green Hill Zone. The point was not to cash in, as it isn't for sale or anything. It was just made in response to the classic debates as to whether SNES could handle a proper intact port of Sonic 1. I'd say he definitely accomplished that. The developer (TiagoSC) also ported Megaman X to the Genesis and has since ported Sonic 1 to the PS1 (with enhanced visuals and sound).
Lol I knew this would come up. I already made a video on it. Check out the pinned comment. And this is the second time I am uploading this video as the one yesterday got flagged by copyright claim due to Somari Sonic hack.

Faltó el homebrew para GBA del primer Sonic que lo hicieron como alternativa al port refasto del 2006 pero solo hicieron Green Hill Zone :( pero con la música original
Actually it's a modified hack of the original Sonic game, it's an extensive reworking of the game with lots of changes. Read more here info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_Megamix
@@Retromantra Thank you, but that will take a while. Well, the closest thing i have is this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JgdCxKJQM14.html&ab_channel=Highretrogamelord
Which game is the most impressive? DEFINITELY the Atari, or Sonyc on MSX now, which one is the best in my opinion? Definitely Sonic 4 SNES, tbh I just have alot of nostalgia for it
