Based off how Sonic X-Treme gave Fang a bigger role, I firmly believe, to this day- that Fang was (and still is) meant to be Sonic's recurring rival who is played for jokes. A character who shows up with a plan, but literally never makes any headway with it. Sort of like how modern Knuckles is usually brought up as a 'rival' for a few moments and during that time is mainly just the butt-end of a joke.

@@thesmilingman7576 The game probably didn't really have a story, but introducing him to the 'main-series' games seemed to me like they meant to cement him as a mainstay troublemaker.

let's see what superstars do about reviving him as a character (let's hope they drop the "hunter" title, the name "fang the sniper" is a snappin icon)

Ay, guess what? In Sonic Superstars, the latest Sonic game, Fang is finally given a major role since Sonic the Fighters.

Fang is lowkey my favorite sonic villain. Would love to see this expanded into a mod of some sort. Maybe replace Gamma with fang?

Honestly, if you gave him Knuckles handling, but with SA2 shooting mechanics either with a custom lockon reticle or no lock on itd be unique, thatd be crazy if they made custom levels for that kind of gameplay. He could even use his pogo-tail!

What if Fang was in SA1 instead of Big? While played by the latter's voice actor, Jon St. John(Duke Nukem; as he also had guns)? How'd Fang's voice and mannerisms have sounded like? How'd the game's storylines and Fang's gameplay have played out?
