Cross the Breeze never cease to amaze me. Each listen brings out a different element in the song. At times it sounds like shoegaze ,and at times it weirdly sounds like black metal with the propulsive blast beats. Not to mention the onslaught of guitars and booming bass. What i,m basically try to say is, this song is a masterpiece
This was the first time I really 'Got' SY. I was 17, stoned for the first time and listening on headphones walking home from my girlfriend's place in the dead of night in the snow blind winter. Just perfect.
yes! so much of the music on independent labels (or unsigned) at that time was so far ahead of it's time. everything that blew up in the 90s directly followed what happened in the underground from the original explosion of punk, the birth of hip-hop and the evolution of disco into house... and all the ways this branched out from illegal warehouse shows to the streets to squats, across oceans and back, from indie labels and alternative imprints to college and pirate radio... all the brilliant art that went on under the noses of people who were glued to MTV watching the likes of the Madonna at the time while stuff like this and Def Jam and techno and thrash metal were all simmering away in so many diverse scenes. it simmered away til it couldn't help but boil over with Nevermind, and Kurt and Krist namechecked Pixies and Husker and Sonic Youth...
Sonic Youth, una de las mejores bandas del universo. La voz de Kim es desgarradora, sutíl y única. Buen registro audiovisual. Pueden pasar mas de 35 años o 100, y su música trasciende eternamente
I saw them on this tour at The Ivory Tusk in Tuscaloosa, AL. The opening band, Titanics, played almost every song off of Raw Power (yes, even Death Trip). I was down front and there was this skinny blonde chick rocking out beside me- I thought she was cool, but def on drugz. Then she got on stage and played bass. I was impressed!
1:18 best riff & how the f did i miss this show?? maybe i hadn't discovered them yet - that is possible.//// the (old) 9:30 Club had such a unique smell/stench saw so many shows there incl. Neubauten Lush Godflesh Slowdive Cranes D.R.I. Fishbone Throwing Muses & countless others..............
I like the drummer! I wonder if Kurt ever thought if I could find a solid drummer, make sure guitars were tuned and added a bit if heavy, mixed with simple and cool cryptic lyrics that relate to all the shit that’s going on and HATE the biggies, dis the labels but yet TRY HARD AS F CK to be a rock star, Whilst sticking to the heroine diet would that work? I don’t think so…. I believe he was genuine… Solid Nirvana Fan. Nevermind.
