The Sonicake Fazy Cream Fuzz Pedal is also quite usable and is one of the cheapest pedals I own. The Jam Rattler and Walrus Audio Iron Horse pedals also get a lot of love although they are both in the boutique pedal price bracket..... They are both seemingly better than the Proco Rat 2 pedal. Thanks for the review!

Good tip on the Fazy Cream fuzz, I'll see if I can pick that one up too! I've also heard so much about the Jam Rattler, but have never had the chance to try one. The Iron Horse is also pretty great - I need to try the new V3 of that. So many Rats, so little time!

Great review Rich, I have the Donner Dark Mouse and also a proco rat, I much prefer the cheaper Donner pedal!

Thanks Jamie! I've heard about the Donner but never tried one... another Rat to add to the list ;)

Seems just a re-badging/boxing of the MOOER Dark Secret Drive!

Ooh, I have the Mooer and need to test them out together, although from my ear memory they're slightly (like 0.0001%) different ;)

which one is better? Mooer Black Secret or this one?
@RichWordsMusic
@RichWordsMusic Год назад
They're very, very similar! (I guess they are made in the same place and are almost 100% identical in terms of the circuits. I have both here in my hands right now and they feel identical in terms of quality as well.) It will be very hard to tell the difference between the two in terms of tones... so I say just pick the one you prefer the look of, or the one you find at the best price :) You have inspired me with this comment to compare the two... I will make a video about them (and some other cheap Rat pedals!) soon :)

@@RichWordsMusic Really interested to buy one of these to boost my rat2. I also think that the sonicake maybe just rebranding of the mooer, but idk. Thanks!

Sounds great but the volume pot goes from blistering loud to more blistering loud. Every time I stick it on the board, it comes off just as fast. Too bad.
@RichWordsMusic
@RichWordsMusic Год назад
That's a shame... maybe there's an issue with yours somehow. I always find the volume very manageable on this pedal for me. It's the gain I have to worry about as there's so much of that on tap! Hope you manage to find a solution, because there's great tones in this pedal if you can get the volume thing sorted somehow.

@@RichWordsMusic I 've just had the same issue with the Donner Dark Mouse (I think it's 99,9% the same pedal but with Donner cover). The pedal sounds good but it's loud as hell. At 9 o'clock the volume is already pretty unusable, you gotta keep it just above 0 or decrease the gain. I'm sending it back. It's pity... I'll give the Mosky Black Rat a try, hoping to avoid any issue

Rats are smart lil vermin that make good a familiar/ pet, not as smart as crows but they do well for the size of there brain, like this pedal it’s just big enough to hold all the bits it needs to chew through a mix. Pizza rat would be proud of this lil cake.

@@PooNinja They do! Like pigs, they're underestimated for their intelligence. And I totally agree. Are you also suggesting I should pair this pedal with the Slice Of Pie fuzz and see what happens?!
