Sonny and Cher open their show with "Got To Get You Into My Life" and banter about Sonny's dream of being the President Of the United States. They close singing I Got You Babe with Chaz (Chastity) Originally aired 2/28/73.
They were naturals...so talented, so quick witted, so fun! Cool seeing young Chastity who was adorable. And "I've Got You Babe" is still an alltime classic and the best karaoke song ever! Love it!
@misterbee66 my gal Lynn and I sang "I've Got You Babe" together at her niece's wedding onstage! We got a standing ovation! I always loved the "VAMP" segments on their show too! RU-vid them...
@@devotedcetacean6568 I was in high school during this era and it was WONDERFUL! The world was a much different place than it is today. Just love seeing these clips because it brings back so many amazing memories.
The good ol days! I miss these two together ! RIP SONNY! Brings back good memories of my guy, who is hopefully singing with SB in heaven too. ;) TY for bringing us all such joy in our lives!
Back in the winter of 66 I was driving my Camaro down an Alaskan highway at 27 below zero. When a Cher song came on it got so hot the tires melted…..AND she is still pretty warm to this day!!!
+Mari Gilbert I even cry when I listen to "I Got You Babe" sometimes because it makes me think of them and how I would wish that Sonny were still alive and how he and Cher should still be together.
Annette and Lue, I meant that she was very very beautiful back in the 70's she had a very natural exotic beauty,,,Today it is altered with cosmetic surgery.....
Nothing Tragic about that. *_Their Friendship lasted._* They had a very long, successful & Good 14yrs run together in the '60s & '70s. They Reunited & performed on TV 3 times. The *_Sonny & Cher Show_* again in _1977_ after Cher canceled her own Show to work with Sonny again. *_The Mike Douglass Show_*_ in 1979 performed 2 Songs,_ then again 1987 on *_Late Night with David letterman Show_* Sang their _"I got you Babe"_ song. They had Lunch together the day before the _David Letterman_ show. *_What's Tragic was his untimely Death._* Had he Not passed away in 1998 after that Skiing accident, they would've performed together again by now. He loved performing with Cher.
Sonny Bono gave us to know this great artist whose name is Cher, and he made her the super star that she is. Cher is also a great person, she is a beautiful woman. I think that Sonny is watching her from above and he will be so proud of Cher.
loved her outfits for the show... I met a person locally who claims he made some of her costumes for Las Vegas shows. I'm sure she was a designers dream with a tall slim figure.
I know this is wishful thinking but I've wished they stayed together - hardest time to watch when Sonny and Cher were at Letterman Show and asked hem to perform "I got you" and Sonny was tearing up and know it was hard to see both in awkward situation.
I think Greg Allman came into the picture and Cher was like so many Women she was swept of her feet by a sexy Rock Star. She had been with Sonny since she was 16 and he was quite a bit older and in many ways was like a Father to her as well as a Husband. There was never any question Cher never stopped Loving Sonny as we used to say she just needed to do her own thing. I mean after Greg Cher never married again and cont. to date men that were so you young it was hard to take them seriously. I believe the man she is engaged to now she's only been with a year and he's 36. I think my point is they were meant for each other. I also think this show would have gone on to have a very long run. Up there with Carol Burnette.
@@dixierae3442she wasn't happy. He constantly cheated on Cher and wouldn't let her have any friends or go anywhere. She was under lock and key. He wasn't Ike Turner by any stretch but he wasn't exactly good for Cher either. She needed to be free to control her own life. Some women can handle being dominated like that. But some women Can't handle it. I certainly can't handle that crap. I dress how I want, I talk how I want, I live how I want. What makes me happy. It's important to find a partner who you can just be with who can just be with you. Gotta be on the same page. On top of that because of all the bullshit contracts he had Cher sign she wasn't able to work for years after the divorce, all the way up until the very end of the 1970s. That's toxic. That's a big deal. That could have completely sabotaged her career for good. He made all that money off of her and she couldn't make a dime.
Cher is a great entertainer and Cher is such a doll and Cher is so adorable and Cher is so breathtaking and Cher is such a gorgeous super model and Cher is so beautiful in so many ways and Cher sings like a lady Angel. Sonny is a big brother role model and a great entertainer.
I really miss these days I really love that show I was so young I think they were great together she talked about how sunny was but then she married a drug addict after him it didn't even make sense
He cheated on her constantly, refused to let her work with other people and explore her own creativity and kept 95% of the earnings from the show with the other 5% going to the lawyer. Sure, she could have stayed with him for the sake of the show and the millions of viewers but she was dead inside. She even considered suicide once. Then she thought, “I could just leave him.” She said leaving him was the hardest thing she’s ever done but she wished she had done it sooner. She said they worked much better together after they split up.
The legacy of this show is that, because they were so good, it made every other singing group think they could do a show, too, so we had to endure shows with Captain and Tennille, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Donny and Marie, even Brady Bunch. I wonder if they knew how good they were? Well, you can’t say Cher walked away from something good and never amounted to anything. She became a great actress. If you say she didn’t deserve it, I say to you, “Snap out of it!”
Sonny and Cher show was kinda over silly at times but Cher (and Sonny) has so much natural charisma and humor and they had so many great guests, they pulled it off. I especially liked when Cher played the outlandish lady with the horn rimmed glasses and leopard print spandex. I remember liking the Tony Orlando and Dawn Show. He was so cute and also funny! And Dawn were good comedians too, especially the one who wore her hair up. “Knock Three Times” was so popular at the time; I remember teachers let us play our own records on indoor recess, and that and Yellow Submarine (and the decals) are all I recall of 1st grade :). What a bright happy time for a kid who was lucky enough to be relatively safe, well fed and taken care of. Many kids were not so lucky. 😢. Donny and Marie were lovable but tv comedy skits like that just got sillier and sillier (including laugh in at the time). Then there was the “house entertainment” aspect ugh. D&M had the “Ice Vanities” and The Brady Bunch (was so excited for premier, but upon seeing no real Jan it was an immediate bore) had synchronized swimmers 😂. They were really running out of ideals and apparently talent that could carry a show. S&C may have been the best. Do you remember “Name that Tune” and that show where aspiring actors did screen tests? There were some great shows and a lot of schlock just like today always trying to exploit the latest trend and cheap fake laughs. Do you remember bussing? I consider being bussed to inner city one of the most important experiences of my life, yet it was a tumultuous time for students and parents. We sang 3 Dog Night Child is Black, White at 4th grade graduation and went to see Sounder together ☺️
my mom and dad divorced (twice ) before I was 5 ( about Chas age) all I wanted was to be this family ......mom, dad, beloved daughter.......( just like " 3 is a magic number " in schoolhouse rock) ....my mom was ridiculously beautiful ( and could sing) my daddy was shorter and so fun/ funny ......at 4/5? I truly dreamed of this being my life when my parents got back together again.......mommy and I had waist length brown (not black) hair ......I also thought I would play with Chas & Lisa Marie Presley ( we are 3 mo apart) and everyone would be happy, musical and loving ........we would wear matching outfits and sing and laugh and everyone would be beautiful, loving happy and fun .....but everyone got divorced, mommies remarried ( my mom? 6x) and daddies died young from "being weird" (high) ...and the 3 of us ( chas, LMP & I) found our own demons in our losses to the "finding myself" generation........still? even now knowing the lies of kodachrome and cinemascope? I have a great sense of nostalgia for those dreams/ hopes .....
Angela Barrera I must be tired, I am not understanding your question. If you read up on him, there has been no conclusion drawn as to his accident. He was a believer in being for his constituents and was being groomed for presidential nomination. A lot of your typical political parties didn't want him because he posed a threat to their way of life.
otoleya Маленькая очаровашка выросла, сменила пол, стала дяденькой :( Сонни стал конгресменом, и погиб на снегоходе, а Шер ... стала тем кем мечтала :)
I still remember someone told me at school (3rd grade) and that Sonny and Cher were getting a divorce. I didn't believe it. As soon as I got home, I asked my mom. She confirmed it.
