Open passing (gold/slow advanced) group. Lots of fast drivers in the group, but I was able to keep up I think. I beat my PB by almost 6 seconds, so I was pretty stoked about that. I can definitely do a 1'51 since the first half of my PB lap was trash (another bad turn 2). Regardless, my goal is now sub 1'50. Maybe I can do that in a couple years...
The day started out really nice and cool, but it got hot by noon which led to more problems. The car started cutting power during session 4, and it was definitely not fuel starvation (had a full tank). After chatting with the actual car people, I was told that I should be running higher octane fuel when the track's hot (b58 things apparently). I might do that moving forward, but after reviewing the tapes, it could be a heat problem. My oil got up to 258F, which is fine I think, but my coolant was also over 220F. I'm not sure if that's still within acceptable range.
Setup notes:
Reducing the rear camber really helped stabilize the car when putting power down, which gave me confidence in a lot of the turns (main reason for overall faster times). FR tire wore evenly, but the insides of my FL wore a little bit more (maybe by less than 0.5/32"). The insides of my rears wore noticeably faster, so we'll need to remove more rear camber. Easiest solution is to raise the car. Hopefully we can get rid of the rubbing too.

Good shot at trying to keep up with that S2K. The angle that he took turn 2 was so sharp compared to our boats, lol.

I duno man, that was pretty stupid though. Also embarrassing since it was in front of the two cars I had passed 🥲

Damn, good times. Guess I need to try a set of RE71RS. Ha. When it was 110* out at thunderhill I also started to run ~4 gallons of 100 mixed in. (Kinda hard to notice but im sure it was cooler overall). No need to do a full tank and it is mad expensive. Oil should be fine. I think you are right on the limit for coolant temps. 220-225 is hot for my beemers. Above that is getting real hot and should probably cooldown lap. You will definitely start to run into even more coolant issues as you get faster and the ambient temps get to 90/100/110. Especially if you are already hitting the cooling ceiling at 85*. Watch dem head gaskets!

Thanks - yeah definitely try the RE71RS. Just know that it gives a lot less audible feedback, so you gotta be on point with feeling what the tires are giving you. I'd definitely run a second or two slower on the RS4 or a similar endurance tire. To be honest, I'd rather run a proven endurance tire if there was one in my size. That said, I might try the AD09s again now that the alignment is almost on point. The car has had fuel starvation issues, specifically when I start a session at

Thanks for posting everything, and not just the “personal highlights” as many do! You were going well, I was in the silver Caterham 7, which is a lot of fun when it warms up! Only thing that pulled away was that pesky 992 GT3, lol. Dang, those things are fast !!

Thanks! I always find something to learn from highlights, lowlights, and nolights, plus it’s fun kinda reliving the day (sometimes). Your pace was crazy fast it almost caught me off guard 😅. But yea, that gt3 was stupid fast. I wish I could have kept up to learn more, but at least they showed me a good t1-2 line.
