I have the Brass version and love the versatility that it allows with the dampeners especially for live and studio applications. They have a phenomenal tuning range!

One of the best sounding snares out there in my opinion!

I went to NAMM in Jan 2020 . . . played LOTS of snares . . . came back and bought the Brass Benny Greb IMMEDIATELY!! I play it with my PHX Kit.

Just picked one up (beech) off Reverb. Great sounding and versatile snare drum. Easily my new favorite.

I bought one of these and it made sure i will never own a Sonor drum again. (still pissed about this) The drums sounds AMAZING... BUT.. in the throw off there is a plastic part which is the indent that makes it click when you adjust the snare tension.. On my drum the plastic part wore out in less than a year, that didn't bother me (turned out there was a burr on the screw that rides in that part) shit happens.. I spent 4 months trying to contact Sonor, through their web page, phone number, social media and i could not get a reply.. so i had a unusable snare over a $.10 part and the company couldn't even reply to any inquiries at all. In the end Sonor Sam in cali sent me the part and i had a friend 3d print me like 10 spares.. i was so pissed that i sold the drum in the end. P.S. i used to think Sonor made the best stuff on the planet but after seeing a plastic part in a wear spot.. that's just a bad design that WILL fail eventually. If you don't believe me, just unscrew the throwoff adjuster and take a look. Also.. i'm sure people will reply how they haven't had issues.. i'm sure almost all of them never will... like i said, my screw had a burr that had eaten up that plastic part, the issue isn't my problem.. the problem is a company that refused to even reply to multiple emails/contacts..

Very disappointing! The way a company treats its customers is so important. I once emailed Pearl to complain about the nylon inserts on the tubing of my 900 series cymbal stands cracking, and they replied to say they were going to send me free replacement parts. They went above and beyond my expectations, and I'm just some random guy,

@@daltonidaho The point is " selling". I have those 2 snares and they are collecting dust. Sonor does not know how a 2023 snare needs to sound .I still hear the "marching" sound in there snare drums. Instead of those 2 expensive snare drums I use often my Suprafonic but MOSTLY my 145 euro Mapex Tomahawk, with Remo Ambassador and the Gibraltar 42 wire bandonera.. This thing sounds amazing, from low tuning to high in a second, and for any music style.

why didnt you go back to the shop you bought the drum from?

I picked up the Brass model last summer and the sound is beautiful, I could not be happier.

That is what counts, if you are happy then everything is OK, even if it sounds like shit. I have the same experience with a Mapèx Blackhawk. I payed 145 euro for it and it is my #1 snare, even above my Superphonic, a sonor safari, and the 2 Benny Greb

the wood drum is a beech shell with an outer scandinavian birch veneer.

Love both of these snares! My favourites without a doubt. But…..can’t afford it 😩

I have played the brass and it sounds great but nobody needs internal mutes. Find a Will Calhoun sig mapex nomad (13x6 brass) for a fraction of the cost.

I found a Tomahawk Mapex for 145 euro and it is now my #1 snare

I don't really see a need for this system overall when it comes to these particular drums. Neither drum had uncontrollable overtones when played wide open. The only tuning where you may need some slight muffling is on the lower tension. The size of the shells is most likely the reason for that. If the shells were say a 6.5x14 or an 8x14 with metal shells then maybe the mufflers would be more useful. However, even on a drastically ringy drum, I really can not see a need for TWO mufflers. The sheep skin deadened the drums too much. All you would really need is the smaller felt muffler in a scenario where the drum is ringing too much but even that is overkill. These days, external muffling devices like gels and drum tacs are small and portable. Why bother getting too mechanical, ya know?

Seeing its A signature model Benny has obviously specked them becuase he uses them like the effect they have, looks like you cant see past your own preferences.

Those dampeners are as old as the street , they were used when I was a child 70 years ago.

I have both snares.Quality is top, but they sound like a toy.The only music style where " I think" they can be used is in rap music where the snare does not need to sound like a snare. Sonor has much better snare drums what the sound concerns and cheeper. I do not use them as my main snare, but mostly as an effect.
