Sons of Leah: Naming the Tribes of Israel | Special Episode

The Bible tells us exactly why Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Yehudah, Issachar, and Zebulun were named the way they were. Yet, the dictionaries say the meanings are dubious and uncertain.
It's obvious Leah didn't use pre-existing names, or follow any known grammatical rules for the sons.
Here's an idea on how the names were created, and how they really do mean just what the Bible says.

The names of Leah's sons are also her own lessons. Her first 3 sons she's focused on making Jacob love her, but to me it's really about her competition against Rachel. Rachel in turn competes against Leah, as she has no sons until late, giving Jacob grief. Not until the fourth son, Judah, does Leah finally "praise the Lord". Desire and praise the Lord your God, not the man, the husband. ❤️

Hi Great study! The pictographic paleo Hebrew puts each word in your mind as composites of meanings! Great for delving into the mysteries of YHWH! Your study on Leah’s sons made me remember what I thought about why Eve ( Chava) named HER sons Quain ( Aquired) and Hebel ( Futility)! Shalom to us only in Christ Yeshua returning soon to reign over the world government from Jerusalem.

I like how Yahudah has all the letters of the Name of the Father with a dalet ( door ) in . It also gives us a guide as to how to pronounce His Name . Not Yahu-dah but Yahu-ah . Pretty straight forward .
@noway905

EE-AH-OO-EH ☝️ ☝️ ☝️ ☝️ Y AH W EH Y H W H THE hey is feminine or masculine. Connected to the yud it is feminine because it is His breath. The hey at the end of His memorial name is masculine as it represents His return as a Mighty Warrior to perform His "strange act" which is to destroy wickedness. Yours has no sensible etymology. Just saying, whoever is teaching you that name needs to show you their homework.
@dunoze
@dunoze Год назад
@@noway905 Yes way ! As I understand it the pronunciation Yahweh comes from 18th century German theologians and is how I pronounced His Name for years . I am still learning but think the example I gave is the clearest and most straight forward way to see His Name . Yud ,hey is Yah as in hallelu-Yah . Yud , hey , vav is Yahu ( yahoo ) as found on the curse tablet at Yahusha's ( Joshua's ) altar and of course at the start of Yahushas name as is also found in the name of other people in Scripture . And hey at the end so , Yah , Yahu , Yahu-ah Nehemiah Gordon pushes the Kararite Yehovah ,it sounds very convincing too although I'm not buying it . " For then I will turn to the people a pure language , that they may call upon the name of yud , hey ,vav , hey , to serve Him with one consent " Zephaniah 3:9 . I'm glad that people call on Him and follow Him . He is leading us to care about about these things more than ever , to unite us not divide us .

Wow. Thanks for the lesson and breaking out the flash cards. I wonder about the possibility of these words meaning something else from a different perspective. For example, Yehuda's letters could be "my arm/strength and my door (to the house)" from Father's perspective (perhaps), which makes great sense since it is from the house of Judah that rule was established. Fitting that Levi would have the shepherd's staff and arm/power, since from them, the Aaronic priesthood would be established. Now I'm curious about Melchezidek...

I think what you are teaching is much more than a “theory” - I think it’s an accurate spiritual truth. Spiritual things are discerned spiritually. Amen May I dare suggest something (forgive me if I seem presumptuous). - When we tell people that the “Vav” means “and” -- most will start to believe that’s what it always means - the Vav doesn’t mean “and” per se’ - It’s more of a “conjunction” - a connector (as it were) - tying the two phrases or concepts - together. Anyhow - yes, the Vav functions as an “and” (sometimes) in our corrupt English language - but I don’t think that’s a hard rule. (And , but, or - conjunctions - I know this from Saturday morning cartoons. 😁) I LOVE what you mentioned on the end of the video. How the names of the tribes are forever mentioned on The Most High’s gates -- Praise God! I think that so many Christians have forgotten the importance of taking note of God Most High’s working through Israel. They seem to give little thought. So much so - as to disregard Israel. Not a good idea - for God says “I will bless those that bless my nation/ people - Israel” (well - He said it to Abraham ) (paraphrasing)
@originalhebrewseries
@originalhebrewseries Год назад
Agreed on Vav! We talk about it a bit in the Vav episode. The meanings of the names on the gates sound to me like words spoken by the future Jerusalem. Once afflicted, once unloved, soon to be joined with her Husband and a troop of sons.

I agree. The importance of the Israelite covenant (despite violation by Israelites) should not be dismissed. However, there is great danger by Christians confusing the identity of true Israelites with blasphemers. Reference Revelation 2:9 and 3:9. Around the time of the messiah, the priesthood was corrupted by infiltrators and false teachers. The Edomite Herodian dynasty played a major role in this. But praise God for his timing, because Christ established a new priesthood amongst the true remnant and the lost, and gave us means to the spirit without the physical temple that was desecrated and destroyed.

Isn't it interesting that Yaaqov wanted the blessing of the firstborn and he was given the firstborn - Leah - who became the ancestress of both the priestly and royal lines and is the wife who is buried besides Yaaqov in the cave at Makpelah along with Sarah and Avraham, Yitzhak and Rivqah. YHWH certainly did exalt Leah!
