i can see why they changed the menu and theme, old theme fits with the old menu, your just getting on the island to rescue a family but get shot down and stranded on the island new theme fits with the new menu, youve been on the island for a few days and got used to the horrors of the island and ready to explore the story and mysteries of it good shit gabe
This is hands down one of the most fitting main menu themes for a game I've heard yet. The progress from early access to launch was something to behold. Congratulations both to you and Endnight alike for the hugely succesful release. I'm sure Sons of the Forest will amass a cult following just as big, if not bigger as The Forest :). Excited to see what future projects you will work on.
The soundtrack for both games have been absolute bangers, just wish they hadn't removed the song with the sick guitar riffs that plays during the "cube scene" it was featured in the 1.0 release trailer but the song along with the realization of what's happening at the time blended so well, like a real "holy crap what am i seeing" moment.
btw guys there is a easter egg to get the forest 1 main theme in sons of the forest , type arrow up , up , down , down , left , right , left , right , BA , enter : and see what happen :)
This man truly does a tremendous work for both SoTF and TF. These games would never be even partially as good as they are with that soundtrack. Way to go Gabe!
First time When I listened this I thought that old music was more better but right now I think this music is better . Bro you do your best every time I appreciate you perfect menu themes
I love the new theme, its so much creepier and unsettling than the older one. Its not like the older one was bad, not at all, but holy damn you did an amazing job Gabe.
Im just curious about how this theme its less frenetic compared to the previous one, i liked the shotgun shot sound effect of the old one, this one it's cool too, but im curious about why this change was made, it feels a bit more peaceful than i think it must be.
Love this new one but now i saw one of the old an was kickass. Ik you changed it but i forgot what the old one sounded like. I love them both. This one is like spooky bass, as the other is action 🎬.

My fiance who doesn't game and despises gaming, picked up my headphones while I went out for a bit(had paused the game) and said this music made her want to see what the game was about. Great tune! Any chance I could buy it for my phone as a ringtone?
Old one was definitely much better. The synth melody in the old one made it a bit more haunting. This one feels, bland. More like a menu theme or a death/failure theme. An in-between, phase transition or even an overworld. Doesn't really fit a main theme. Would work as a credits theme too. Love the Mass Effect vibes though. But, if the game is a bit of a slower jam, then I suppose it's fine. The old one really sold me on the game though.
As a new 1.0 player that bought it during release. What is the reasoning to change the main theme? I checked your first one. Both are great, but why the change?
Both themes are good in my opinion (I didn’t really even notice a difference at first as I came back for 1.0 after hitting a standstill while playing the early access) but I think the changed it to fit in more with the new main menu and to fit in with the game more in general. Sorry for the long explainstion btw
I find this music better than the old one, the old one's tone was more action filled, this is more mysterious, I want mystery and unknown in a horror game, not action. If I wanted action I would go to a purely FPS game.
The new one fits the theme better. The old one would kill as a bosstrack or maybe as a random easteregg with a 10% chance of playing on launch (10% ie 1.0)
