Thinking of getting similar next year. The Sonetto V and this Mcintosh. Though I would ideally like some more EQ in the 1K to about 8k area. Maybe a 6k dial. But the next model is getting even higher dollars. It’s interesting to hear though that there is what I might call “distortion” in his vocals at times in this track. I get it in my system at the moment too. I tried different things to get rid of it but I think it’s in the recording. I’ve heard it less obvious in a couple of systems but usually it’s there. He must of been too close to the microphone.
I have a pair of these Sonetto 3 and I currently drive them with a Rega Elex Mk4. Sounds nice but I think the Sonettos deserve a higher quality amp, such as Sugden AE21(SE ?) or Lavardin ISX (Reference ?). I would also consider to go for a tube amp but I'm not sure if the Sonettos worked well with tubes. Does anyone have the Sonetto 3 and drives them with a tube amp? There are some interesting Italian manufacturers of tube amps, like Unison, Mastersound or Pathos. Would any of these pair well with my Sonettos? I would highly appreciate your suggestions, thanks in advance 🙂
thank you for comment. I didn't try amps you mentioned. On the channel there is a test by tube italian amp Synthesis Roma. I think Sonetto sound good with Mcintosh tube amp specially if you listen to classical or jazz music. I use now Sonetto paired by Naim amp that for rock music is good.
Have you heard the new Lumina 5? If yes, what do you think about the difference for the Sonetto 3? And the Sonetto 3 and Sonetto 5 only change the bass? Is the quality similar between them? If you can, try listening to the Dynaudio Evoke 30. I listened to them with the Marantz Model 30 and I loved the sound.
Hi, I didn't try Lumina 5 yet. Difference between Sonetto 3 and 5 is not only bass but sound is like more full of colors. When I will try other speakers you will see in this channel.
@@pegasus646 You say the bigger Sonetto 5 have more colors than the Sonetto 3? Wouldn't the bass of the Sonetto 3 be faster, tighter, dry, crisp and defined?
I decided on the McIntosh MC462 amp and C2700 preamplifier. I currently have Keff R11 speakers. That said does anyone know which Sonos Faber speaker would be a better pair with these McIntosh separates?
@@pegasus646 What did you notice about the differences between the Olympica Nova 2 and the Sonetto 5 that made you prefer the Sonetto 5? I thank you in advance.
@@pegasus646 But what about frequencies other than bass? The olympica be superior in the mids and trebles? Wouldn't they be more refined and transparent?
