As usual, you manage to make technical presentations enjoyable to watch and give them a real world view. Something the other well known reviewers can't seem to do. But, I have to admit that it's not the same as your old DRTV days with Lok and Alamby.

Kai, try turning off e front curtain if you have a short shutter time. In your test shots outside you can see that the bokeh is cut off (a gradient downwards) which looks not so great. This problem also makes you loose light. This problem does not exist when you use full mechanical shutter or go completely silent (through at least my RII can only shoot 12 bit in silent so I use mechanical then).

That lens is a wake up call to other manufacturers, a game changer. Can’t help thinking Sony are taking a leaf from Fuji on firmware updates. Give it a few days we’ll see a few review channels using your heads up and info on this lens.

Lens hood Kai, lens hood. Cheapest, lightest, simplest accessory you can use, a piece of plastic having by far the greatest pic improvement: purchase cost ratio. Great vid tho. From superwide intro to supertele outro, spot on.

You've been partying your arse off, we all know it, and I LOVE it! Yes, this is actually the exact lens I have been requesting for about 4 years after shooting the A mount 135mm F1.8 with an adapter on E mount, and that's the most incredible lens really, which is why I always thought an 11 blade E mount version with the de-clickable aperture should totally happen. Have the hell out of fun with this one for video, it's astonishing, really. It's as if it were really a zoom lens with it's super thin (I believe one of the thinnest of ANY lens with it's focal length and super large aperture for that length) depth of field. I always thought it such a discovery to have the A mount 135mm F1.8. Yes, this lens is going to be worth the same price as the A mount 135 F1.8, so go ahead and score this one. It's THE BEST lens, especially at that price. When you go up in focal length, sure it's a whole other world, but will be THOUSANDS of dollars, whereas you will be in BOKEH HEAVEN for $1800, with the upgrade of the 11 blade aperture, which believe me will make an enormous difference in the shape of your BALLS.... Bokeh balls, that is! A fellow bokeh whore I am! You are a bro, Kai!

I read on firmware that other cameras already have those firmwares. But glad they are finally doing it.

It's also not too much more than the Sigma 135mm f1.8 so if it can match it optically and outperform it in terms of autofocus than I can see a lot of people being interested. It's an interesting situation because usually the first-party lens comes out before the third-party similar lens.

If going skeet shooting, never pick the 20 gauge shotgun, you will think you are doing poorly when the reason you are missing is really that the target went a little too far away. (12 gauge seems to have been used in the video)
