Great video! I use the 16-35 f4 G for 80% of shots for this range. It's so small and light and cheaper, but plenty sharp. If I need something faster, I'll whip out a tiny prime, but I rarely do.
A 16mm pancake f2.8 lens is my dream lens!!! Please Sony!!! I’m thinking about the 16-35 pz, I’m sad it f4 but it’s so small and light and not quite GM expensive…
@@bennieferinga9609 I tried it on the a7c awhile ago but then I tried the sony 20mm 1.8 and it was so nice I decided to return the 18mm though I loved the size. Might I need to try it again.
Great video, but I believe, that the 16-35 Z4 PZ deserved a place in the video. Lighter, cheaper, better for gimbal, parafocal, awesome sharpness, even though that lens can't exist without optical corrections.
@@ndfcamerahouse6286 I'd say that the sharpness exceeds GM, but as I said, it can't live without optical corrections, GM doesn't need that much correction.
Swapped 16-35GM for 20G, the only glass that I want for A1 is 24 F1.2 & 85 F1.2. 24mm F1.2 can be made at the size and weight of the original 16-35GM and that is the glass to wait for
Am I alone in wishing sony would update the 28mm f2 lens? I really like that focal length and im hoping for something more exciting for it. Maybe 28mm f1.4 or g series 28mm compact like the 24, 40, 50 trio.
I just bought this 2 days ago ... and was having some buyers remorse $$$ creep up on me today so I just came here for the reassurance I did the right thing.... thanks JV!
the videos you make it is not a just another review, it is a show easy to understand your English and fun, you take as in VENICE BEACH in UENO in YAMAKA you are totally my favorite cam tech reviewer bro and by the way I own the 16-35 GM 2 and it worth the 3K euros
Great video as always! Loved the green screen over b-roll. I might have to try it sometime. Yes I really want this lens, but my Tamron 17-28 works for now
i seldom comment on a channel but im loving this video, let alone how informative the content is, its also really funny and love the vibes u got in there which kept me watching!! keep it up 👍
LOVE how light this is compared to my version 1!!!! Definitely noticeable throughout a wedding day 😅 My copy’s zoom barrel is extremely easy to twist especially from 35 towards 16. Just picking it up to shoot after each time I put it down/holding the lens turns the barrel. My version 1 copy was nice and didn’t easily turn so I didn’t have to worry about it not staying in the right focal length during the event. Do you notice the zoom barrel being like this or should I exchange my copy? 🙌🏽🤔🥲
As long as you don’t have a stacked body, that’s fine...but a stacked body will be crippled by that glass, and my A1 would be crippled by the crappy motors on that glass. The motors on this 16-35GMII make this glass unbeatable till 2029 unless Sigma or Tamron does a 17-28 F2 bazooka
I'll give you that answer... YES! I've just been out for the first time with it and the results are stunning. The best G-Master lens I've used. It has an absolutely beautiful character and is super sharp. They're the main things for me.
I love my 14mm 1.8 GM! I use sensor ND filters which is the only downfall of using it. I’m also using the Tamron 11-20 f/2.8 for my A7IV 60p 1.5 crop which works amazingly well.
Exactly. There is a pristine 14GM that has been sitting at my camera shop for $1,000 since May. If that glass could accept a front normal screw-in Cir-PL filter or UV filter, then it would of been gone instantly. The fact it just sits there when so many photographers have seen it, is very telling
Love your videos Jason! Question: if you were going on a trip around the world and had the A7CII with you: would you supplement your existing 20-70 F4 with a 14 mm GM or would you simply buy a 16-35 GM II...? (and use the crop mode for +35mm...) Focus: landscape, architecture, night sky... Thank you!
Spoken like a snowflake who has never hiked 1,000 miles with the 16-35GM or understand F2.8 vs F4. It’s not worth the money for vLoggers, but for “Photographers” who want the versatility of a zoom...it’s worth every penny and more in terms of how much value it will bring to you over the next decade
I need an updated Sony full frame buying guide. Im getting my first camera and it’s going to be full frame because I enjoy night time street photography. And the old one is 4 years old and so many new cameras and updated pricing. Would really appreciate your take on it updated.
Thanks Jason for the nice review. I owned both the 16-35mm GM I and the 14mm F1.8 GM. So I would say, I'd rather not upgrade to this lens, although this is definitely an excellent landscape lens.
I don't like how the lens extends when you're zoomed out. Id rather have it all be internally. Less issues with dust getting in, and it's also backwards, which is weird
Great video tbh ❤. Hey Jason, would mind do setup guide for photography and videography on Sony zv-e10 . I've just ordered mine, and i think it will be great seeing a guide from you. ✌🏻
I buy it 16-35 gm ii and can say it's a terribly good lens i don't want use anymore 24-70 just selling it because 16-35 gm ii give me everything what i need ! I use before 14mm as well yes it is fantastic lens but i don't want walk around with many lenses that's why i sell it but this 16-35 cover all my needs and really i don't need anymore 14mm but really i recommend it that is fantastic lens
Variable nd filter. That's why you would get this over some other wide angle lenses here. I sold my sigma 14-24 dg dn for the first version of the 16-35 f2.8 and I never looked back because of that very reason. For landscape and outdoor architecture, when the sun is strong, with that 3d pop quality and contrast from the gm, nothing come close to it.
I sold the 16-35GM because Primes are wayyy sharper and my 20G / 50GM dual setup on a1 & A7R4a makes me not miss the 16-35GM ever, or even lust for the GMII...I simply need a 24mm F1.2 on Quad XD Motors to allow the A1 to properly flex at 24mm like the 50GM was designed to do.
Watching this as I was thinking of trading the 20mm and the 35mm GM for it, but I think I’d miss the lowlight capabilities too much as a wedding tog who often shoots daaaark venues in Scotland. Think I’ll just trade the 20mm G for the 14mm GM now though! Thank you Mr. Vong sir 🙌🏼
Can you please test the new Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 for us? Other reviews I've seen so far say that it plays in the same league as the 14mm GM from Sony. But it cost only $549. Hey sharp, almost zero distortion, very minimal CA, Coma, etc. And it accepts front filters 😀 Would love to hear your feedback on it.
I have two nice sharp Viltrox lenses less than two months old- but one stopped working already. Viltrox is not honoring their 1-year warranty. Just sayin’
Great review! In July I bought bought 16-35GM and now version 2 is come out😢. So question is 16-35GM to 16-35GM II? Because smaller, lighter and other new things? Or just keep using 16-35GM?
Dear Jason, thank You so much for all your amazing tutorials! They are a MUST for me! I have a question concerning the ISO sensitivity. Very often I work with people on a scene - where I have spot lighting (from the ceiling, which as you can imagine isn't very flattering). I am doing my best to make them look as good as i can ;-). Often I work with my Sony Alpha 7rIII and I would like to know what in you opinion is the highest ISO I can go to without loosing the quality of the image. I am always afraid to go higher than a 1250 . Thank You for Your reply in advance! All the best and keep on inspiring all of us! 🙂
I found the 14 GM to be way to soft at the corners and ended up cropping in, while I liked the sharpness stopped down I found my 24GM was better after considering the crop, sold I sold the 14
Soooo your waiting for a Sony 16mm 1.8 and yet photographer's are blowing up FB groups over the Viltrox 16mm F1.8 AF FE Full Frame lens?... Which is of course my favorite. I know, I know it's not a familiar brand to the "pros" so it's not getting the respect it deserves. However the Viltrox is rapidly becoming VERY popular nonetheless. You should try it.
