I am not a gamer but I did buy the Sony A 90 K in a 48 inch on Cyber Monday. I am blown away by the workmanship, colors and overall performance. I have had a 32 inch Sony Bravia for 13 years and its still running very well. Now moved into the bedroom. Good review my friend!!
My sony seems to look a decent amount worse next to a c2 sadly. Highlights pop alot better on the c2, like of call of duty you can really see the backround stars pop while on the a90k you really cant.
Agreed i think sony has better processing and color accuracy than lg. lg has more gaming features but for movies and older content its no contest i have the a90k 48” the dolby vision movies are mindblowing
All in all, the A90K is far more superior than the C2. Sony’s OLEDs are just too fucking good. The only good thing about the LG OLEDs are the game optimizations. Gives it a huge advantage especially if you play competitively. But other then that, Sony OLEDs have been far more superior for everything else. I can certainly say, i use to love LG OLEDs. They’re amazing and I’m not bashing them in any way. Ever since i made the jump to Sony OLEDs, i don’t think i’ll ever go back to LG, & Samsung. The Picture quality, pure blacks, the vibrant colors, the amount of details, and most importantly Sony’s image processor is just, AMAZING. I can list so much more about the picture quality and other things, but it’s too much to go through cause it’s that GOOD. If you guys really do plan on getting a Sony OLED, DO IT. You’ll never go back and this is coming from someone who use to primarily use LG.
@@itzge_ge2651 If you’re getting it specifically for games, i’d go with the LG C2 cause they have lots of gaming features, including the game optimizer. In terms of colors, LG has more of a saturated colorful type pictures and they tend to push for red more. While Sony is alot more accurate, realistic, and lots of details pop. LG C2 has some blooming and it hides lots of important details which to me, it’s kinda a dealbreaker. Basically it’s like this, you won’t go wrong with neither. Both are excellent OLEDs. Sony OLEDs are far more superior when it comes to Picture quality, colors, details, and the processors that Sony has is AMAZING. It’s a lot more that’s too much to list and trust me, when you go with Sony OLEDs, you won’t go back or switch to any other brand cause Sony’s OLEDs is that damn good. It’s also really good for gaming as well. LG Pictures is really good too, but if you ask me, it doesn’t come close to Sony’s and this is coming from someone who use to use LG primarily. LG without a doubt, is far more superior in the gaming category. Especially if you’re a competitive gamer. So you just have to tell yourself, do you want all the gaming features that LG has to offer? Will it benefit you? Or do you not care about any of that and you just want the top of the line picture quality from Sony? If you’re a casual laid back gamer like me, GO WITH SONY. If you tend to play more competitively, like games like CoD, Battlefield or whatever, go with LG.
@@itzge_ge2651 Do you play in a dark room? If so you won’t have to worry about it at all with the reflections. If you’re playing in a bright room then it might be a bit concerning, and also very annoying to deal with.
Great content/ review on the Sony A90K not a lot of reviews on this TV. I think I made my mind up Sony A90K 48”> LG C2 due to my overall usage would be video games, movies, sports, overall motions and well calibrated out of the box thanks again!
I picked up my Sony A 90 K on Cyber Monday and love it. Although I am not a gamer I do watch plenty of sports and movies. I am gushing over the picture quality of sports. And the audio system on this Sony Master Class series Bravia is really nice. I am not even entertaining a sound bar.
I have a samsung q90t 65in that I was using for gaming...decided I wanted something smaller for gaming purposes so I went with a lg c2 42in.....I can never go back to LED after playing on a LG OLED.
Thanks for this review. I just got a 48”. And I do have an LG CX 48 already that I love. But I want more color accuracy to work with video editing and other things than just gaming.
Best TV I’ve owned. I did some adjustments from RU-vid TV Techs for this TV They were good but still not perfect so I turned up the Black levels a little bit because I thought the TV was too Dark then I turned the color level back below 50 because it was a little too bright for colors. Now I have the Most Natural Color TV I've ever seen. The Picture is Clear & Bright and skin tones are Natural. It took a little effort and thinking but now I have a Great Looking Picture.
Doing some Cyber Monday shopping and really glad I stumbled on your video. Was about to pick up a C2 as a gaming monitor but I think you’ve convinced me to get the Sony
How it is it's ASBL (the slow dimming caused when you have the image without almost any movement, not the dimming caused by great amount of white over the whole screen)?
@@Adri9570 Minor irritation for me. Most of the time it goes away after some movement on whatever game I’m playing. Sometimes I’ll turn the TV off then on to get rid of it, but that’s rare.
@@z0mb1e564 Thank you. How it is the ABL? (= instantaneous dimming caused by having a big portion of the screen white, ex: when you open a folder in a PC). I'm deciding between the A90K or an LG C3 to do browsing and some editing and gaming (all as a PC monitor) but I need to avoid low brightness. The 270cd that my VA panel TV gets is plenty for me but I need to not lose that kind of level of brightness even when the screen is 75% mostly white. When the screen is >90% white I don't care if it dims too much. At this point I'm grateful to have some protection against that level of flashbanging. :P
@@Adri9570 I don’t know if I have seen that function. Almost every thing I do is in dark mode. Also the TV is in a pretty dark room. I think on the few white webpages I visit on that machine, it hasn’t dimmed. It is noticeable when it dims for idling, but my brain might have been grateful to avoid the flashbang as you say if it ever dimmed on a white screen.
I'm going to pick the A90K if for nothing else but the fact that the graphics mode uses nearest-neighbor scaling. Blurry scaling is a huge peeve of mine, so support for clean scaling (if the resolution is correct) is very nice.
Thank you for posting this video. I've been telling people all year long to buy the A90K over the C2. Most don't listen, unfortunately, but the reality is just that the Sony is the better TV - at almost about every level.
I'm currently in the market looking for either the c2 or the a90k. I'm tossed between the 2. I have a beast pc , ps5 , series x and a switch. It seems like for me the easy pick would be the c2. But I love sony tvs . My 950g that thing shines, it's just missing hdmu 2.1. So I might just pull the trigger on the a90k and get a splitter.
Sony a90k best for movies the colors are just amazing! But for gaming it’s definitely the lg c2 much faster processor and no lag. If you have the money go for the lg g2
Do you find that smooth shadow transitions in darker scenes (for example In caverns/caves in Elden Ring) exhibit posterization but only when locked to VRR mode in the HDMI signal type? I am seeing this on an A80J btw. I can see a difference if I switch from VRR to either the Enhanced 4K or the Dolby Vision signal, where it cleans up in those areas. If anyone with recent Sony OLED models can verify this it would be much appreciated!
I am as well. I should have the Asus in either tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm going to try and have a review in the next week after I put it through a lot of testing
Do you have any comparisons between the A90K and the C2 regarding the upscaling capabilities of the A90k for low resolution content? People keep saying sony xr processing is better but is it really that much better?
LG C2 V Sony costing the same ??? are you sure . Here in the UK C2 42 inch currently at most places discounted at £949 including VAT .... Sony 42inch , Currently cheapest i've seen , around £1349 including VAT..that's a hell of a difference. Perhaps that's down to Sony UK Price gougeing , I'm not sure !
I think the coating is amazing. It's pretty much the same coating the 2 alienware qd oleds use and it does a great job of getting rid of glare but doesn't distort the image at all.
i have a issue with the sony a90k. i have a 3090 ti and a 1.5m hdmi 2.1 cable. when i chose hdmi enhanced vvr everythings works but when i use onyl enhanced format nothing works and i have scratches on screen. has somebody a idea? thanks
I can't help with the enhanced format issue, however i will say my a90k had scratches on the screen out of the box. this is because sony just put plastic around it and no screen protection when shipping
You pretty much want to turn off anything that has to do with upscaling or the ai image/audio. The extra processing causes input lag. I leave it on for console though
They both have 60 hz bfi. Both have little to no flickering with bfi engaged. Motion clarity with bfi on both sets are next level. Big improvement over C1. Sony has better shadow detail and it's reality creation is next level especially for games running in performance mode on which usually takes a resolution hit on consoles. LG C2 has a little better input lag but my performance goes up on the Sony, I'm able to track and located enemies especially on shooters, just my personal experience. Can't go wrong with either though!
You switching from LG C2 TV for Sony A90K me i want the LG C2 42inch Because i have a Sony TV that has 120hz is the x85j and It doesn’t have the 1440P display for my PS5 to use it because the LG C2 42inch has a 1440P display
I still absolutely love the a90k. However the c3 is constantly on sell and the 90k hardly ever goes on sale. I would snag a c3 at a discontinued price.
I read on rtings that none of the Sony OLED's support 1440p 120hz, can you confirm that's the case? Also in the even that it is, do you think 1080p 120hz on the Sony would look better or about the same as 1440p 120hz on the C2?

I'm leaning towards the Sony but the lack of 1440p 120hz is my one major concern since I mostly run demanding games with RT like Cyberpunk at that resolution but run pretty much everything else at 4k 120hz. Did you watch any movies/streaming on the C2 while you had it? If so do you recall the motion being significantly worse than the Sony? The truth is both are very similar. All I would say is the Sony suffers from auto dimming. You say Sony is brighter?? All independent reviews say LG is brighter regarding nits? Is that not true?And remember Sony use LG displays for their tv’s.
I'd Go with the C2 Or Sony. C2 if you want the fastest input lag and best gaming features. Sony if you want the best picture and upscaler. The pg42uq has too many software bugs right now, and the hdr isn't great in my opinion
@@tallguyericreviews what gaming features give it the edge? Because as far as I can tell A90K can still use G-Sync, 120HZ etc all the same goodies with the upscaler and better HDR. Both have insane response times and good input lag. Assuming I’m using both a PS5 and a PC, this makes the 90K smarter choice since it has ps5 benefits aswell right?
@@therealpureessence2437 The C2 had dolby vision for xbox as well as movies. It also has a game menu that allows you adjust everything from a small submenu. The a90 works with Gsync no problem and yeah the a90k has auto tonemapping for hdr on the ps5. I think the sony is a killer tv.

Is has a beautiful picture but i feel a lag in gaming on it. Ive trying different monitors and tvs lately and as amazing as the picture is for game the lag is horrible. Even with VRR enabled you can tell. Loke i said the picture is amazing but for FPS gamea there is a lag. I also have my mac mini hook up to it and WOW once again the picture is Amazing. Its great for watching TV or movies, gaming idk if id recommend if you're into FPS games.
42 inch or 48 inch? I was looking at them in person and the 48 inch didn't seem too big, looks like you can still pull it off as a monitor if you sit it back slightly...what does anyone think? I can't decide between the 2 sizes.
I am still undecided on either the LG C3 42” (seeing as the C2 is no longer available) vs the Sony A90k 42”. I can’t seem to come to a conclusion. I’m not much of a tech guy, I want to get an oled for gaming such as cod and other fps games and also adventure games and also for watching youtube videos and netflix etc. I am hearing that game customisation is better on the lg c3 compared to the sony ak90. Can someone be a bit more specific? Btw, I will be using a xbox series x, is this compatible with both oleds? Thanks in advance.
If you can find the a90k on sale, I would go With it. However, at retail the c3 is definitely the go to. It’s brighter, newer technology, and the newest is is very nice. The a90k still remains my favorite oled tv but I wouldn’t buy it at full retail.
@@tallguyericreviewscan you give me a few reasons why you would advise me to select the c3 over the a90k? I mainly will be using it to play warzone, although not a hardcore gamer, I enjoy my games. But also, as mentioned briefly before, I will also be using it to watch youtube content a lot etc. I am from London, UK and currently the c3 is £1099 and the a90k is £1379 - both are the 42” versions.
@@TopBoi93 the c3 is brighter, has a better response time, a better gaming mode, and has 4 hdmi 2.1 ports. It also has the ability to go in the service menu and disable asbl

Coming from an A80J owner soon to be A90K owner as well....the reality creation is a complete game changer, it makes the other brands of tvs look really blurry in comparison.

I feel like the a90k in particular deserves more attention and praise than it gets. I keep hearing that with the c2, sdr doesn't look the best and you have to constantly fiddle with the settings to get the optimal image; whereas with the Sony, it gets it right for all content the first time. @@michaelmcgehee5932 I already have an A80J from last year which is very similar that I picked over the C1. Having seen the A90k and C2 in person, the C2 is slightly dimmer, the A90k has a bit better colors, massively better picture clarity with reality creation on around 50%, the ABL isn't as aggressive as the C2. Really the only thing the C2 has better than the A90k is a slight input lag advantage.
C2 still has some black crush and overshoot and also a lot of noise/dithering compared to the Sony. Until they ditch that old ass alpha gen processor idk if that will ever change
Definitly gonna buy this on black friday if i can get a deal. At 1100$ i’ll snag it at 1k its a no brainer may not be as bright as samsung a95b but i think sony has a bit more accurate color than samsung only thing sony lacks in is motion and some gaming stuff but everything else like color and upscaling is the best you can get. Black fridays in 3 weeks so idk if they’ll have a deal on this one cause its new but im gonna snag it next year for sure at the worst i have a 9 yr old sony led that still works but dont wanna hold on to it too much longer.

I haven't found a way yet, however it doesn't seem to be too aggressive. I haven't had any issues with text clarity, with that said I didn't really have any with the c2 either.
@@volcalstone the input lags are so close, you really cannot feel the difference and those on paper test don’t seem to be as correct as people thought they were once u get the tvs

I haven't had hands on with the x90k, but if you're looking for a budget I would look towards the 42 inch c2. It's been on sale for as low as $700 and it's an incredible tv

@@Yotefang dude the only monitor coming up that will be a worthy upgrade from that x27 might be the Acer X32. 576 mini leds that can hit 1200 nits. Supposedly the HDMI 2.1 version is coming very soon and the Gsync ultimate version end of the year.
@@ronniekregar3482 this is the most inaccurate comment I think I have ever read. Lol anything with FALD and can hit 1000+ nits peak brightness is amazing looking HDR. It’s a bigger difference than going 1080p to 4K!
@@LexLutha lol, nothing is a bigger leap from going from 1080p to 4k. That's insane. People overblow the brightness factor anyway, unless you're playing your games or watching TV on the surface of the sun. Maybe in a some movies HDR is nice, but for gaming, damn near pointless. Too bright and you get that whitewash effect which looks terrible most of the time, even with an OLED.
I chose the a90k 42 inch instead of the 48 cause to me if I’m gonna get the 48 inch I might as well get a bigger tv to me 42 inch is perfect but it is an odd size
Thanks for the video. I'm sure the A90K has a better picture but honestly I'm happy with my 42" C2 after a couple of week with it. I was going to give the A90K a shot but to me it's a TV first before it's a gaming monitor. The C2 is gear towards gaming and you could tell. Game optimizer is awesome. I like the aspect ratio settings as well which I use for my PC. Yes you could do this on the A90K as well but it takes more steps but with LG you could just do it on the fly and swap it back. C2 has the lowest input lag as well and even has a boost mode! In a lot of ways it's better then that new ASUS 42" that is coming out which is more expensive tho. I do wish LG wouldn't had a DP tho. That would've made it a perfect TV/monitor. I also have a 77" Sony A80J if I wanted to watch a movie or show. It's in the same room so that's why I was kinda leaning towards the C2 as well as I didn't want a remote control issue. 😉 Edit: I just check the prices on these two again and the C2 is now $1,150 while the A90K is at $1,300. A few weeks ago they were at the same price at $1,250. I'm able to do a price match guarantee which I just did right now. Thanks for saving me an extra $100! 😉
I don't see how it would take more steps, you setup a custom resolution once and then just run games in that resolution. I also have an A80j and tried the c2, I could barely tell a difference in input lag
The PG42UQ has the lowest input lag of any OLED right now. The only thing the C2 has over the PG42UQ is the gloss finish, which isn't even that important for some people.
@@jediwheels1781 the ASUS is a better PC monitor all the way around. It's not a better TV overall tho with mix usage. Btw the C2 is now just $1000 at BB as a deal of the day. Making it the best deal for an OLED right now of the current year model.
@@drunkhusband6257 I like that the C2 has it built-in from the TV side versus having to make the changes on the PC side only. As for the input lag it would only really matter if you are that anal about it as most people won't even notice the difference. The Sony is great but the C2 is one of the best out there.
@@volcalstone Except on the C2 you still have to make changes on the PC side as well otherwise you only get 2560x1080 on the 21:9 setting. You still have to set a custom resolution of 3840x1600 to get the full correct pixel density. Having used both the Sony other than input lag is miles ahead in image quality and colors.
I take it you did not calibrate your C2? Do you think the difference would not have been that much if it had been calibrated? Also, does the A90K support 1440p 120Hz?

Sounds like a Sony ad. Very few say its actually brighter than the LG, most say it isn't as bright. Gaming is better on LG. LG builds the panel. I like Sony, have 3 oled, two LG and one Sony. But for gaming, no the LG is equal at least, but to me its better. For just a regular TV and no gaming or don't care about gaming, Sony is good, But not worth the extra money with the 42". Some of the larger though I would probably prefer the Sony which my largest Oled is Sony.
I agree. I have the 42" C2 and honestly it's better for gaming. If you want to watch movies and shows then go with the A90K. I don't need all these upscaling and processing stuff that Sony does best. I will only game on mine and LG for the win. Do note that I have a 77" Sony A80J and I love it but I try not to game on that so much. I wanted something smaller for my PC and consoles so the C2 is perfect. I didn't want to go with a LED monitor cause once you go OLED you can't go back as the saying goes. 😉
@@itzge_ge2651 there are reflections but most of them are gone when you have the TV on. It didn't bother me when I had it. I said had cause I ended up returning it. I'm going to wait for the C3 instead. I ended up getting a 55" S95B and it's on another level compared to the C2. I'm still going to look for a 42" or smaller OLED next year though.
The difference in input lag is like 5ms. Regardless of what people want to think, that amount of time does not matter to anyone who is not actually winning pro gaming tournaments.
