Thank you I enjoyed this video it helped me a lot I have used a 35mm camera and this is my first digital one this has helped me understand this camera better.
thats fantastic! im glad to hear this has helped in some way. I wish you all the best for 2021 and all the best in creating memory's through your lens.
Thanks Elijah. I bought an as5000 today (but unfortunately as cheaply as you did) which I wil be taking with me on a motorcycle trip around Australia starting in a couple weeks time. Thought it would be a good camera for me to get back into more creative photograpy after spending the last few years relying on smartphone. Very good video, helped answer many questions that I had after spending a bit of time reading the instruction manual this afterrnoon and not really processing what it meant. Have a much better understanding after watching this and lots of good tips. Have looked at some of the your posts ... I enjoyed both the 'low light test' and the street vlog photography and also learnt a lot from them. BTW you take some great shots. I just subscribed and am looking forward to more of your videos. keep up the great work.
bro! thanks heaps for the sub, i have subbed to you to! i look forward to seeing your adventures. let me know if you come through WA kalgoorlie/Perth, if im not working we should T up for a meet and greet and get some shots! thanks for the encouragement! ill be putting more effort into my RU-vid side of things, gonna be doing Be hind the scenes and more camera set ups and reviews. happy new year bro
@@ElijahTichborne Wow! My first subscriber! I didn't even know that I had anything 'public' up on RU-vid. I have heaps of video footage from rides I have made in Japan, Vietnam and India as well as in Australia over the last few years but my feeling is that it is pretty boring for people to watch and I am pretty useless at video editing so it sits on my hard drive.I have been doing a bit of 'research' into moto-vlogging and am looking at mics and camera set ups at the moment and am hoping to make a start on that soon for my upcoming lap of Australia. I have biking friends in both Kalgoorlie and Perth and am plannning to catch up with them so I will definately be in touch when (if? due to Covid) I pass through WA. All the best for 2021 and I will look forward to seeing what you get up to.
@@richardchantrill all that footage can easily be used. When u do a talking head shot talking about ya ride, you can cut to the shot of you riding while ya still talking. This will keep the viewer engaged for sure
Man thats so awesome! This just shows u dont need the best gear. U just need to know how to get the most of what you have. Thanks for sharing bro. Thats really cool!
This has been helpful. I was wondering how to turn off the shutter sound of this camera? I couldn't find the button for it and have looked for answer all over the internet :(
hello, your camera will have the same settings to what you had it set to before you turned it off. so when you turn your camera back on. it will be the same as you left it.
i just started my cooking channel. i shoot videos using my phone but lately i was thinking of getting a budget camera to at least upgrade my visuals. thanks for this i had another option.
@@ElijahTichborne oh, I'm not a camera person man. I don't even know how to operate them well but as far as I know a5000 came recently Than 5r and 5t. How come the video quality is better? BTW Thanks for another selection.
@@SonnySideUpCooking the a5000 shoots in 1080p 25fps or 30fps depending on where in the world you are. also shoots at 1080i 60fps or 50fps. where as the nex 5 series all shoot the 1080p 30/25 and 50/60fps all at 1080p 1080p = progressive 1080i = interlaced interlaced is lower quality watch this to get a good explanation: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H_o5h5SK_70.html
Thanks for an extremely helpful video. I have a problem though, why is it that the lighting seems fine when focusing but as soon as I shoot the picture comes out darker? pls helpppp
@@ElijahTichborne Samyang 35mm T1.5 is a great piece of kit. Sharp wide open, nice low contrast look, nice colors, great focus and aperture ring. A little on the lighter end of the weight on the focus and aperture, but are very nice and smooth. :)
Thanks, Elijah. Your video is very useful. Just one question. If I focus a white object in the centre, the spot metering also pointing to it, which makes the picture underexposed. How can I lock the focus on the object with half way pressing the button but move the metering spot somewhere for correct exposure? Pls advise. Thank you.
Hi is there anything you recommend like a remote + tripod for this camera? I want to take my own photos of my husband and I at the beach. Or is there a self timer option where it can take many photos at once atleast? I’m very new to this lol. Thank you in advance. I have the sony a5000
Sure. There is a wheel on the back right side says ISO left side is shooting type a timer. Set timer and how many images you want it to burst. Or you can just get a cheap shutter button off ebay.
Great information, just wondering if you have an idea on how to turn off the following.. i am trying to view what i have just shot and the display screen shows on the right side of the display screen the four colours staring with the saturation of white red green and blue in what u would call a chart like manner and then all the information on the photo the actual picture then has some type of shadow that keep flashing back and forth , not sure if i am describing the correctly but honest it not pleasing to look at and wonder how I turn off , i am certain their is a setting some were. Thank you in advance
Bro. I had this camera for like 5+ yrs. & I’m just now learning about these features smh lol. Also. What lens are you using. It doesn’t look like mine LOL.
Hahaha you been sleeping on a decent camera. Bro i like the sony 50mm f1.8 oss if auto focus is needed. But i usually use the kamlan f1.1 mk2 but thats a manual lens. For wide shots i like the samyang 12mm f2 AF
@@ElijahTichborne lol. I know man, photography can be overwhelming. I just want a camera that shoots real good without buying expensive lens smh lol. Thanks for responding
thanks mate, if it has been helpful please give me a sub as that would be very appreciated. here is the music: All of this - Hallman *epidemic sound* Always late - Hallman *epidemic sound* color wheel - oomiee *epidemic sound* Go from here - Hallman *epidemic sound* Heard the stars - Hallman *epidemic sound* I miss ya - Hallman *epidemic sound* I'm going like - Hallman *epidemic sound* Too easy - oomiee *epidemic sound* enjoy
hola, la respuesta es no. no es posible hacer una pausa. es mejor grabar y detener y luego editar el video juntos. o puede grabar y eliminar los errores en su software de edición.
Hello, I'm thinking of buying this camera for my travels. Is it good for scenic views and what is the zoom facility like. I've been use to using a compact camera in the past.
I wpuld personally get a nex 5r or nex 5t they both have flip up selfie screens. Both are better at video. They have have 1080p 60fps where as the a5000 has 1080i 60fps
Hi, thank you so much for your video! I don’t have a manual lens like the one you showed in the video, I just have the lens that the camera came with. Do you mind telling me how to manually change the aperture on the camera if I don’t have a manual lens? Thank you!!!
Just got this camera second hand as I’m just starting off. It didn’t come with an SD card. What SD card do I need to buy? I’ll need it to be good for shooting Yt vids ?
Hey mate i only use sandisk and samsung. Make sure you buy from a trusted shop in store or online. I have been scammed on ebay before. You can find 32gb cards on sale at alot of stores. I picked one up for $16AUD not long ago. I have been happy with it for photo and videos at 1080p
I don't know how much it matters on this camera, but yesterday I got an error message on my drone saying the card couldn't write as fast as the drone camera can shoot video - so get a fast card!
this is such an "ePIC" vid! LOL :P is the 16-50mm a fixed lens? and if i want to shoot a group photo with my family and friends is there timer for this camera?
hey there, i’ve just gotten this camera and was wondering why i cannot change the volume of the camera? it says function is currently disabled when the camera is up to date
hey mate i just wipped the camera out and had a look. you cannot change the volume level on the onboard mics. make sure you have "Wind noise reuct" turned off to help improve the audio. - try and speak where there is no wind present - try to speak close to the camera so you will need a wide lens or set you lens to 16mm or 18mm if you have either of the sony kit lenses. if you still do not like the sound quality buy a lav mic and record onto your phone and sync audio and video in post. another option is buying a Zoom recorder but now your having to spend a lot more money. you just need to ask your self whats gonna be the best bang for buck and can you work with the choice you make. for an example: if you have to sync you audio and video every time this might end up discouraging you. as its more work. hope this helped you.
yes this really helped me out thankyou for that! as my volume was set on 7 and i saw yours was set to 15 on your video so i was just wondering ~ i’ll be in close enough proximity whilst vlogging so the internal mics should be okay - thanks a bunch! :)
Sure if you get it for a deal on the used market. I like the sony nex 5t and nex 5r better then the sony a5000. And they are cheaper on used market too. But yeah the a5000 is still very capable. Its the audio that lets it down. But u can record your talking with ya phone or another 3rd party recording device.
I just bought a used sony 5000 but without a lens ... please can you recommend a good lens that costs little ... because the original one costs a lot ... help me please.
Are you after auto focus? If u wanna try your hand at manual focus you can get nicer cheaper lens like meike 25mm f1.8 great low light performance at f1.8 its a small lens which suits the a5000 body as its one of the smallest if not the smallest sony e mount body. If u need auto focus. Try to find a used sony lens or if u need cheaper try a used sigma 19mm f2.8 or sigma 30mm f2.8
@@ElijahTichborne honestly I have no lens because I just bought Sony 5000 without a lens ... and arrived today and I can't see anything for that I went on the internet to look for the original lens but found it expensive, for this I need one that does not exceeds 50 euros.thanks again
@@ElijahTichborne actually, the sony a5000 16-50 lens is quitr good as a kit lens... what I have against ALL kit/zoom lenses for beginners is that people end up using just the wide angle side and are actually held back from using other focal lengths. 2-3 primes are much better to hepl you take better photos.
Hi, In my Sony Alpha 5000, ISO changss does not affect anything while shooting a movie in Program Auto Mode. Sony service center could not help either. Please please pleas help me to rsstore thdse settings.
Hey mate the auto mode automatically calculates exposure and sets the iso, apature and shutter speed to what the camera thinks its best. I recommend you shoot photos in manual mode. And shoot video in video mode or manual mode. If u want to talk more hit me up on facebook
I really miss the dedicated FN button. If you got used to it you just don't want to go without it. Other then that this is a very neat camera for little money (especially when buying used)
Is there a smarter way to delete photos than the ways with the camera? I bought the camera secondhand with about 250 pictures on, and the old owner had deleted them on her computer. This just makes the pictures become corrupt and the camera extreemly slow. So i dont know if there's an application or something like that
Go to 'delete' in camera (in the playback icon(?) near in the right side), click delete, click delete image that you choose, zoom out to see image and check every image you want to delete... click ok, donee
@ Elijah Tichborne hi brother after i watch your video do reset the camera as you did so now my camera not support to the lane and i hear you said i have to up date in google, so could you please send the link description for me to up date and i hope you can do another video about the up date too
yes but only in 1080i not 1080p if you need a budget camera with selfie flip screen i recommend the sony nex 5r or 5t these shoot at 50/60fps at 1080p so better video.
click menu button click camera settings go page 2 set file format to AVCHD set record settings to 50i 24m(FX) or 60i 24m(FX) depending on where you are in the world good luck and have fun :D
Have had this camera for close to five months and used it for a couple of jobs and Nop.. it only shoots 8bit video in the standard picture profile.. so there's no log picture profiles built into this camera. Hope it this helps
very thorough ...thanks for the vid. Been looking for a lightweight body mirrorless cam for a while. The Sony a7c is sweet but the price!!!! So i think the a5000 or a5100 is a cheaper alternative to the a7c. oh did subscribed!
hey mate, i have used all the sony nex range too, the sony nex rt or the sony nex 5r are a better option to the sony a5000 if you were walking it for more video. if photos what you were doing more of then the a5000 is better

@@blainethurlow5483 yeah i normally bounce flash but it was an a soccer wind up and the place had high ceilings haha. But again. Thanks for the tips and ya knowledge
50i is really 25p on this camera. There is no point of shooting in 50i. Sony never updated this to XAVC unfortunately. Your best use of this for video is probably as a streaming device. To maximize image quality and dynamic range you should use portrait with sharpness and contrast on -3 and saturation at 0.
Great aps-c camera, literally the cheapest modern camera you can get. It should be noted though that it is not a photographer's camera; the plastics is the lowest, squeaky quality, screen is horrible and and low light iso above 2000 is.. a joke.
yeah mate, i agree i dont normaly go past 1000 even on my a6500 and a7, i try to keep my iso down as much as possible with wide aperture, lower shutter and help of lighting. no one thinks the a5000 is a photographer camera or a video camera, it is very capable in both, but its a hobbyist camera. for the price you pay and the results you get is great value.
Well.. I for one😂 thought it would be a good family camera, but mostly because of the 280 euro price tag. Not that it hasn't been good, but I found out it wasn't as pocket-friendly as I assumed (even pancake lenses make it quite bumpy) and in low light the sensor wasnt really in the same league with the likes of fuji and others.
