Hey guys here’s a link to some images that explain how I attach the small power bank to the small rig cage! drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-6HK4rJfOEmP0NHP8ynaPHV-gu5MZuhk Basically just use adhesive cable ties to secure the power bank to the qr plate
Lex and Josh hi lex, I am sorry i am not able to read your reply because i am not able to find my previous comment on this video. Can you repost your reply as a public comment. Thanx heaps.
Neehal Khan basically the a6400 and sigma lenses will be cheaper overall but it depends on your shooting style. The Fuji has the joystick which is a big deal but Sony’s af tracking and eye af is very very good so it depends on what you think you’ll use more. If video is a concern then I think the a6400 is the better bet
Lex and Josh thank you soo much. I am just into photography. And weight, handling and image quality is very important to me. Is there a lot of difference in their image quality? Which of them is more comfortable to use? What will i miss out from the other if i choose either of them? Are sigma 16mm f1.4 and 56mm f1.4 really good enough to choose sony a6400? No doubt fujifilm lenses are amazing but they are nearly double the price. Will that less expensive combo be sufficient for me? Answers to these questions might help me decide. Thank you
Neehal Khan I would say for your purposes the sigma lenses are good enough. Image quality is also similar although if you love Fuji film simulations then you’ll be missing that on the Sony. I think the Sony has better autofocus and a faster burst rate (although the xt30 has ultra fast 30fps with electronic shutter). Sorry I can’t really tell you which is better though it’s really up to you. Try to think about which system has the cameras and lenses you may want to upgrade to in the future. That may help you decide
Lex and Josh definitely L&J. It has helped me alot. Thanx alot mate. Thanx heaps. I will go with sony a6400 i guess as it has better ergonomics which will be convenient to use the camera for longer time and not cramp my fingers. All the best L&J. Keep making amazing videos.👍
Those ghosting effects is cussed by the image processing inside the camera. To get rid of it you need to turn off all the sharpness inside the picture profile settings and use only the s-log 2 gamma (s-log 3 is also free of this effect but it's very grainy). In every one of other picture profiles in low light conditions ghosting effect is present.
What about picture profile off completely? I am recording with PP off, and it is still present. Noise reduction off, but it still tried to reduce noise. I am recording only in 4K, but believe that it is present in 1080p as well. Any help, please?
@@LexandJosh Thanks. Seems that software inside make decision what sensor 'see' actually. Tried capturing lightning, and after light flash and roof look as if it exploded for a part of a second.
If you use a Metabones Speed Booster and Canon EF glass you can get really close to a full frame as far as field of view. Also you’ll get an extra stop of light.
I just bought this with the kit lens. All I want is a nice camera for photos. I’m not a professional but I know how to use manual settings. I had a Nikon full frame, and it was heavy. I hardly used it. I’m hoping I’ll enjoy it.
Hey! I really appreciate how honest and informative this video was. 😀 I am upgrading from a Canon G7X Mark ii and need to decide between A7iii and A6400. Purpose : Travel vlogging, light commercial client work - both photos and videos (like restaurant/food and product shoots) After watching a lot of RU-vid videos now, I am thinking that A6400 coupled with 18-105 lens plus a canon 50mm (along with a canon converter) would get me the best value for money . (Instead of just a7iii plus kit lens). What do you suggest? Your advise would meana lot!
Jose Luis Pelaez when I tap the screen for video it works quite well, using the touchscreen as a joystick for photo is where I find it gets into trouble
@@LexandJosh The touch pad is the best manual option to select an object to focus using the screen; just select touching it. But using the EV it is only possible to drag the initial AF point. I think that this touch or stick manual AF point selection is more useful in video o with the camera on a tripod taking pics. I am more used to focus and reframe in photo.
Thanks for the awesome, honest and detailed review. I am a new to photography and bought the a6400 about 5 weeks ago with the Sony 1.8/35 and 18-135 lenses. I'm learning as I go and have taken many beautiful stills - not much video yet. The 1.8/35, use primarily for eCommerce product shots, has taken several great portraits of grand kids.
You have 10-18mm Sony stabilized lens which is great for Vloging. Regarding fast lenses you have the 35mm f1.8 Sony. My fav Sigmas are 16mm f1.4, 56mm f1.4 súper sharp and fasr. Zeiss 16-70mm f4 is another awesome lens. Great review.
TY for this video. The A6400 is on my short list for a camera. I have recently retired and am looking for a decent travel/cooking vlog camera. The limitations I can live with because I am not a professional. I like your power solution, a big plus, and your unbiased opinion of the lack of professional quality lenses. My take away is purchase a higher quality lens with image stabilization. I will actually be moving up from an antique Nikon D60 which has served me well over the years but is now woefully outdated.
I was stuck deciding between the a6400 and the a7iii. I'm definitely going with the a6400. This review was very clear and concise. All the info I wanted to know is all here. Now I can put more money towards a better lense instead of blasting it all on the a7iii body. Thanks a bunch Josh!
@@MANOLET hi 😊 may I ask you? Do you use this perfect combo for video or still images? I have also took the SIGMA 16mm F1.4 into consideration but many expert people told me that focus is delaying, native Sony E-mount is faster although there is only a slight difference like Sony prime lens are F1.8 - thanks 😉
Got my A6400 With New Sigma 35mm 1.2, Sigma 16mm 1.4, and Sony 85mm 1.8 All three are INSANE ⚡️❤️ Yes I Have all full frames on my APS-C , but it’s worth it anyways.
Love the review!!! I use Sony A7R3 and A6500 as my backup I recommended thurs camera to a friend. This was a wonderful review!!! You got a new subscriber!!
hey, your video is great and helpful. in 9:58 I saw that you use 4k and face tracking available, also your awb is set to white or ambient. can you elaborate those settings? I can't seem to enable face tracking for a6400 in 4k mode.
when matching my a6400 and a7iii i found the blues are greener with this a7iii....did you find the color was a bit off? (with white balance and profiles matching)
The lack of joystick for focusing is not a problem, when the touchscreen is fully operational. Like on every normal camera in the last... several years, maybe? I went to shop to test this model. When using the viewfinder I can move the focusing point with my thumb freely, on my Panasonic GX85, that is 3-years old and costs under $600 with two lenses (!). But not on this one. I did't buy for that reason alone.
Nice and informative video man!but i find my a6500 being at least 2 stops worse than the a7iii and at 8:16 that is obvious in your video i think!both amazing cameras!really love my a7iii!
Nice video..you have good knowledge man :).. one question. Does A6400 keep recording, if we use normal mobile power bank for charging.2nd one is, Does it compete with canon colors?
Solid content, great presentation. The USB powerbanks would solve the 6400's battery problem. Have to decide on a wide angle B camera lens (basically it will sit permanently on a tripod). Sony 10-18 or Sigma 16?
I just got this camera and started recording. When I went back to watch the videos, I noticed some noise in the background. Sounds like static and my room was completely quiet. I ordered a rode micro mic hoping it will help, but after watching and listening to how your 6400 sounds without an external mic, I'm starting to wonder if my camera is defective. Did you change any of the audio settings on your camera before you started recording video? Thanks so much!
Steve Steve thanks! I would say I switched from the a7rii to the a7iii and from the a5100 to the a6400. The a7 line and the a6xxx line are quite different in my opinion and I got each for different uses
I'm moving into wedding photography and sports. So far, my a6000 and my assortment of lens do well, but as my clientele increases, I need to have better cameras. Should I upgrade to a6400 or go full frame, or both?!
Hakan Ilkin I think speed boosters are great for apsc cameras with canon lenses. Metabones will of course have he best glass inside but if you find the price a bit steep, I’ve found the one from Viltrox to be quite good!
I really love this camera. AF is so good for sure. I have a question: I take 4K video a lot and want to know which setting does it do 6K downsize to 4K? 24p or 30p? or both?
Her Soul Vacation I’ve tried it with the a7iii years ago, works pretty well but I found the metabones to be more reliable, even though you don’t get all the features with sigma ef lenses
The background music masking your roomy dialog actually reduces the intelligibility. I'm interested in your experience with the camera but just can't get past the mess of audio playing back at me. Maybe try the SPL De-verb plugin with your video editor and mellow out the roomy dialog and skip the music next time.
lmrecorders sorry to hear that. I’ve noticed that on some headphones/speakers the audio can be a bit hard to hear and on others it’s fine, maybe switching that up will help!
Hi. Great review. Q: Is posible to use (and shoot) camera while charging via powerbank? I´m looking for specific use...interval tripod shooting(1-2s) for 30-60min. Thx very much
Considering the price is currently the same, would you buy the A6400 or the full frame A7ii. (Mark2) I keep going back and forth and can’t make a decision.
I mostly do 85% photography which ranges from vacation landscapes to family portraits. I’ll do video 10 minute videos of a 7 day vacations. So yes mainly photography. I’m looking to just upgrade my old Sony a57 with 15 autofocus points!
Trini Cortez id go for the a7ii then! You get that stabilized full frame sensor which should work wonders for the type of photography you do. Happy shooting!
I saw in some sites comparisoning the a6400 with those old versions (a6000, a6300 and a6500) that this a6400 lacks this AF internal motor. Do you know anything about it? Since then I wonder what are the practical consequences of this...
The Lions Family best settings? Do you mean jpeg settings? Or exposure settings? Flattering and soft generally leans towards low contrast and a wide aperture/shallow depth of field
@@LexandJosh yea bro i just bought the camera lol i dont have all the techno jargon down yet! i want to take pics of my wife and vlog i have a 18-135mm on a a6400. i noticed peoples shots with the lens seems fuller im thinking they used some type of editing because i cant get the shot lol
The Lions Family it’s probably down to the lens, lighting, or composition. Try getting a 50mm 1.8 or 1.4, and taking some half body portraits by a nice big window
William Pan ya the a6400 would be good as a secondary body. I don’t really recommend using two different cameras with different lenses cause you aren’t able to mix and match.
Hi . Bro pl suggest me which should i buy fuji xt30 vs sony a6400 My priority is completing with a 6400but my biggest priority is the image should be very beautiful. Just like if we click a pic from iPhoneit is very short per and very attractive as compared to the other normal phone. Similarly I just wanted to know that is a pic click by Fuji camera is lot better than the sony 6400 or is it the same, just a minor difference . If the difference is big then I would consider Fuji and if the difference is just a lil, fuji image is bit slightly better but not so much difference ,then I would go for soniye 6400. On RU-vid Fuji has created a lot of hype of their colour presets . Pl suggest Ps. I dont wont to go in post processing work as i am a fresher and dont have lot of knowledge of post processing.
Tushar Sharma honestly both cameras will look great straight out of camera but I think the Fuji does look better. It’s not night and day but the Fuji jpegs are better.
@@LexandJosh thanks . And if i buy this . There are 2 varients in kit lens of fuji xt30 18-55&18-135. If i go with 18-135, will it also give me the same bookeh effect as with other lens .
Tushar Sharma you’ll get more bokeh with the 18-135 although the lens in general can’t expose as bright. So you may get noisier indoor shots but the benefit is way more zoom and bokeh
at what shutter speed does the fact that this camera not have an ibis come into play? (without a stabilized lens) I want to get it , but the lack of ibis makes me nervous
Mehreen Rizvi always depends on what lens you have! The standard rule is never go lower then your focal length (1/100 for a 100mm lens) but as a rule I usually stay around 1/200 when shooting people so I don’t get motion blur from my subject
@@LexandJosh thank you for your response! That helps, been wanting this for photography but the no ibis made me unsure since I can't afford the a7 iii lol
akhil v if you want the best autofocus/latest features then a6400 is a good buy, want the best image quality or stabilization then the a7ii would be the way to go. Depends what you’re looking for and what lenses you intend to buy
Lex and Josh am a beginner, I would like to do street travel and portrait photography and if A7ii I have to go through the kit lens 28-70 and for 6400 I would like to buy 50mm prime
I have a Nikon D7k, looking to go in the route of mirrorless. You stated the Sony A6400 is a B camera. What do you recommend for a main, budget friendly mirrorless camera?
Jim_Y_Le A7 series is an obvious choice. If you are serious about photography and want the best, the a7iii is my personal favourite. If you do portrait photography and don’t need the autofocus performance, the a7rii or a7ii is great. If you just want to catch kids running around or sports, maybe the a6400 is perfect!
P Pham Sorry I realize I glossed over all that 😅 basically it’s an adhesive cable tie that I stuck onto one side of the quick release plate. That way I could swap between multiple batteries, each with a plate attached
Lex and Josh haha its all good it was something I’m interested in, it helps take advantage of the unlimited recording, do you have a photo so I can see how you attached it before I purchase the plate?
I'm newbie and yes I have also heard about why buy directly expensive camera n all u can always hire one for work. Lens n camera. But for me my type of person. Who likes to click all the time. Yes I cant lug a real camera and lens all the time. But still. I don't wanna buy something which will not do my job. For some great paid portraits in day light for quick cheap assignment and making my portfolio. What do u suggest A7iii A6400 A6500 G95 D750 nikon (I just used d3400 for some weeks now N I love the menu so easy to operate.) I have not yet tried a7iii or a6400 as they are not available as open box for testing at stores. I can rent and test yes. But I have seen a6000 and it's so difficult to play around without those dials and buttons and all digital evf is giving me little slow. To work with. Maybe I'm wrong as I have not yet set them up . So what are your suggestions. Kit lens yes price wise with camera they come for cheap. Somehow I feel Inbuilt Stabilize is imp. Because they are dslr they need that. What's the point of clicking 10 click of all pics n then sit home n do the later deletion n find nothing really was clear
You 2020 with all Sony cameras you definitely have to set them up properly. That means customizing the My Menu, fn menu, and custom buttons to suit your liking. Otherwise the camera will be really hard to navigate. I would say the a7iii will be closest to a dslr feel especially if you like having a joystick on the back. That being said the a6400 and a6500 will do outdoor portraits just as well at a fraction of the cost especially if you use eye af a lot. I can’t comment on the g95 other then the sensor is smaller then all of the other cameras. And the d750 is an amazing camera if you don’t mind not having an evf, eye af, or ibis. I highly recommend getting your hands on an a7iii and an a6400/a6500 to test out and use on the job so you can see which you like better and which falls into your budget more.
@@LexandJosh thanks a lot. Now I'm even more confused as I'm also talkoky rx100 vii and or rx10 m4 into consideration. Hahah but if rx100 viii gives me the edge to work and produce professional outputs why not.
You 2020 the sensor is very small in both those cameras. Fine for casual or travel photography but may be an issue for portraiture in terms of both depth of field and low light ability
@@LexandJosh oh ok cool so u think the quality I wont be happy with . So at the moment if I consider a7iii kit lens or a7iii body only with 24 105 lens f4 and maybe later add 50mm fe lens works? For sports n portraits? Or 6400 with same lens or 6400 with kit lens 18 135? Works?
Hi Josh, I'm in for the 6400 or the A III, let's say for kind of simple vlog, indoor tchat set with lights. Would u say A 6400 colors look painful or harder to work since A III is out ? The main info for me here is : u film with the A III, not with a second A 6400. So I'm somewhat puzzled.
I would say the main benefits for the a7iii are the cleaner high iso's, much better 120fps in 1080, much better ergonomics (joystick, battery life, dual sd cards, etc), and of course full use of Sony's extensive full frame emount lens selection. When it comes to colours I find them pretty comparable in good light and if you are vlogging I would consider the flip screen to be a huge advantage!
@@LexandJosh Thx a lot for ur advice Josh. Multi cam + Cam link could help with no flip screen. And yes lights would help the A 6400 match the A III in case we'd take both of them.
@@LexandJosh you're right, I can see someone using expensive lenses with a "cheaper" body, when they have a expensive body with a more expensive lens, but since I wanna buy this camera and my budget is under 1200€, I certainly can't afford that zoom lens, and I keep seeing people reviewing these but without the 16-50mm kit lens, so I'm kinda disappointed. Anyways thanks for the reply!
lil trn we use the 16-50mm kit lens for any time we need a really small vlogging kit. Has decent optics for vlog type footage but zooming with it isn’t the best due to the loss of light. That’s where the 18-105mm comes in with constant aperture etc. But it’s not like the camera is all of a sudden terrible with the kit lens and you can always upgrade in the future!
Hexspa it’s totally fine for video as it is corrected in camera but I could see it being a bit of an issue for photos especially if you shoot wide angle a lot. I would say go with the 16-70mm if you favour the wide focal lengths and this 18-105mm for tight.
@@LexandJosh Thanks for the quick reply. I have this lens already but I'm new to ILCs. Strangely, I found that in photos, LIghtroom does a good job of making everything straight but with video I get some bendy lines at the edge of the frame. Good lens tho - not going to return it :)
Hexspa ya it depends on the focal length and your proximity to things, sometimes the camera can’t correct for it entirely. At least it’s a relatively cheap lens!
E-sa Salleh from what I hear it is better at the wide end whereas the 18-105 is better at the long end. If compact size is more of a concern for you then the 16-70 would be a better option! But make sure you buy used cause new prices on that lens are crazy...
Lex and Josh hey mate, need help here. I have already ordered fuji xt30 but now i have seen reviews on sony a6400. I mainly do photography and no interest in vlogging. Though i am a bit worried about convinience in handling(ergonomics) and the menu stuff. I would pair 16mm f1.4 and 56mm f1.4 (sigma and fuji) if i buy any one of these cameras. What would you suggest me to buy?
Neehal Khan overall I think the a6400 and sigma lenses will be cheaper, but people swear by the Fuji lenses, film simulations, and ergonomics! So it really depends on what you think you’ll like to shoot with most. Having a joystick on the xt30 might be extremely useful to you, while the af tracking and eye af of the a6400 might swing it for the Sony
i tried sony 5 nex it had an overheating problem back then, they still having the problem now with a6300. they think we all live in a North Pole , but i live near a desert, it's 45C out side in direct the sun. sony is just garbage, a hot garbage. if any one have to chose between a sony camera and other brand, go with the other brand.
@@LexandJosh 6400 have that problem. 21minutes recording and camera shut down... poor, but is true. Oh, do you know that back panel of 6400 is plastic? Not magnesium... maybe sony replace material to plastic, its colder... ;)
@@LexandJosh Yes. looks like magnesium but it's not. the a6 series *** has the same problem. here's the link ... I'm not the only one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cnCnbFzmsqQ.html
