FIX: In the video I say that you can control your video settings only in video mode and not in S&Q mode. IN FACT, you can actually modify the Aperture and the Shutter speed, ISO, ECT... in S&Q as well, when you are in manual mode (at least). I don't know if I missed it or if it's from a Firmware update. Sorry about that. Cheers!
Thank you Robert! 👍 That little camera is a lot of fun! I will mainly using it for RU-vid Shorts and B-roll of macro stuff. I am also thinking about selling stock footages online... Even though it seems time consuming. Thank's for the comment, cheers! ✌️😀
Chris - I dont know how I missed this. It is AWESOME. I really liked the A6700 and that 90mm lens. All the lower end cameras have rolling shutter and nothing is perfect. You just get some amazing shots. As far as the R7, I use the eye AF with the 100mm EF macro lens but I dont get anything like you do. 🙏🤗💖
I have the 6700 and 90mm. i was using a Canon R5, but my back hurt, and this is a much lighter setup it seems. Thanks for the video. I’m still trying to figure out how to get focus tracking on a subject when shooting video where focus seems (when on auto) to have a mind of it’s own. I’m a very experience still shooter (40 years!) but new to macro video. Question, for videos like the ladybug, are you using a tripod? I doubt I could get it that smooth hand held. Also, I assume very little if any breeze in that situation.
Thank you for the comment Rfh! I am kind of a beginner too at video. But I am a bit more used to manually focus in video mode with my manual macro lenses. And I probably used that skill in this video more that I thought. I think this combo will do very well for a butterfly at close distances and even focus on the head. But around 1:1 it will just detect some contrast and stick to it. I think in this video I was half manually focusing by playing with the minimum focus distance, if you see what I mean. Anyway, all that to say that for macro videography Sony will help by detecting something, but then you kind of play with that minimum focus distance and/or the AF ON, or even with the button on the lens that stop the AF. And you hope for that 2 or 3 sec of magic moment when the subject is doing something without moving. I have lot of fun trying since 2 weeks now. I have 4 or 5 short footage that are really cool. I think. In my next video I'll show how I use my tripod to help with shakiness. I try to do the video but it's very humid at the time... Cheers! 😀👍
No, for the ladybug I was handheld with steady mode I think, or standard stabilisation mode. At that distance it's fine. Yes the wind is not your friend. 😁
Beautiful! Nice shots Chis! I also have an A6700. Paired it with a Tamron 18-300 for wildlife shots. Will get me in the future a dedicated macro lens. See you in your next video!👍
What a cool little camera, right? 😀 Have a look at the 7Artisans 60mm mark 2 if you are looking for an affordable 1:1 macro, I bought mine around 7k pesos in Lazada. I have a review on it. I will receive a lens even cheaper in a couple of days and probably do a review in the future as well. (TTartisans 40mm F2.8 macro). Thank you for the comment UrbanWildeCDO, cheers! 😀👍
I see you're getting some exercise in. 😂 That was some great handheld insect videography. I have a 90mm 2.8, but paired with the cheaper Canon R10. Certainly won't be getting autofocus like you are. You've inspired me to try more insect videography. Thanks for sharing your new gear. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. 👍😎
Thank you very much! 😀 Yeah, I figured out only after running that the S&Q 240p actually works well with butterflies... That would have been more beautiful to see maybe. Your 90mm is very nice, at least you have that native 1.6X magnification. Macro vidéo Is very challenging but rewarding when you finally get a good footage with a subject that is doing something without moving too much. 😆 Cheers! ✌️😀
Beautiful video again, Pitch! I'd like it of you tell us more about that lens in another video, it may go in my shopping basket! I bought the full version of DaVinci Resolve because of the A6700 10 bit video, just a few months ago, it was a good buy for me. You have some beautiful bugs there...
Thank you The_rat!😀Yes, it's very probable that I do a review of the lens, but in a couple of months. I did not think about that 10 bit thing actually, and I just read now what comes with the studio version. I think it's actually not that expensive if you plan to use it for a long time, so I will buy when I am back in Switzerland. Cheers! 😀👍
Thanks for the comment Gold! 😀👍 No, it's fine in Puerto, a bit of rain here and there. What's amazing are the plants growing high everywhere. I have difficulties going in some places where there was just some dry grass 4 more months ago lol.
Thanks for the comment Leon! 😀👍 Its not perfect, I am not showing the 80% of the bad footages, and at 2:1 its when it can be complicated... But still, for a lot of situations, you can get something good from it. Cheers! 😄
@@leonfisher don't worry Leon, I knew you was joking. 😁 I felt like I had to put that comment somewhere that it is still struggling in macro even though it's probably among the best ones. I should put that comment in the video description actually. 😀 Have a great day! ✌️
