I have the 6700 and 90mm. i was using a Canon R5, but my back hurt, and this is a much lighter setup it seems. Thanks for the video. I’m still trying to figure out how to get focus tracking on a subject when shooting video where focus seems (when on auto) to have a mind of it’s own. I’m a very experience still shooter (40 years!) but new to macro video. Question, for videos like the ladybug, are you using a tripod? I doubt I could get it that smooth hand held. Also, I assume very little if any breeze in that situation.
Thank you for the comment Rfh! I am kind of a beginner too at video. But I am a bit more used to manually focus in video mode with my manual macro lenses. And I probably used that skill in this video more that I thought. I think this combo will do very well for a butterfly at close distances and even focus on the head. But around 1:1 it will just detect some contrast and stick to it. I think in this video I was half manually focusing by playing with the minimum focus distance, if you see what I mean. Anyway, all that to say that for macro videography Sony will help by detecting something, but then you kind of play with that minimum focus distance and/or the AF ON, or even with the button on the lens that stop the AF. And you hope for that 2 or 3 sec of magic moment when the subject is doing something without moving. I have lot of fun trying since 2 weeks now. I have 4 or 5 short footage that are really cool. I think. In my next video I'll show how I use my tripod to help with shakiness. I try to do the video but it's very humid at the time... Cheers! 😀👍
No, for the ladybug I was handheld with steady mode I think, or standard stabilisation mode. At that distance it's fine. Yes the wind is not your friend. 😁

This one took more than a week to do. I will use the money to buy more gear so I can make more real life reviews. Chris - I dont know how I missed this. It is AWESOME. I really liked the A6700 and that 90mm lens. All the lower end cameras have rolling shutter and nothing is perfect. You just get some amazing shots. As far as the R7, I use the eye AF with the 100mm EF macro lens but I dont get anything like you do. 🙏🤗💖

Je vais faire au mieux! Mais je fais un peu moins de vidéos depuis que je suis RU-vid partenaire. Je n'ai plus la pression d'atteindre un certain nombre d''heures de visionnage par année pour être qualifié. Pis retour en Suisse dans 15 jours. Mais j'essaie d'en faire une ou deux par mois ces 2 prochains mois. Et un peu plus par après. Cheers! 😀✌️
Chris, your photos are always so amazing no matter what gear you use. For me, I prefer to stick to native lenses about 99% of the time. Since their name and reputation is on the line, they have higher quality control. in my opinion.... most of the time. Neat little lens, but for me and from experience, I would pay the money for native with AF. it is the only way I can get good photos!! 🤗💖
hello again. It can be someone's dedicated macro lens that can focus to infinity if they'd suddenly need to snap some moment while doing a macro session. The wasp with the blue eyes is really beautiful.
I see you're getting some exercise in. 😂 That was some great handheld insect videography. I have a 90mm 2.8, but paired with the cheaper Canon R10. Certainly won't be getting autofocus like you are. Your 90mm is very nice, at least you have that native 1.6X magnification. Macro vidéo Is very challenging but rewarding when you finally get a good footage with a subject that is doing something without moving too much. 😆 Cheers! ✌️😀

Hi! I'm using Canon r100 paired with the meike ef-eos r adapter and canon efs 55-250mm stm lens, everything works fine until I change the aperture higher than f5.6, it won't take any picture and shows error "check connection between lens and mount". I don't know what's the problem, anyone can help me? I appreciate. thanks a lot.
@@GunplaTAPTI hi, I guess I would start by checking that all the screws are well in place. Then I would check if all the connectors are in place, then I would clean them with paper towel or something. If still not working, I would buy a Canon one for the peace of mind. Best speed, accuracy and all that. Also check if you have the last update. (It could have been a bug fixed with the last R100 software update) I hope someone has a better idea for you though... Bien fait :) J'ai encor eà apprendre (et j'avais ce 65 LAOWA revendu pour un 80 Fujinon bien plus lourd ) Par contre on ne voit pas comme font bcp de photographes, que tu différencies à la prise de vue chaque série en mettant la main en travers à la fin de chaque série pour savoir que c'est la fin et qu'une autre rafale va commencer. Je fais comme ça , ainsi une fois dans LR je sais différencier 2 séries , surtout si faites dans la même position :)

Et la je viens de faire une série de clips avec bcp de stacks. Le Fujinon, c'est pas plus mal, avec le sabilisateur et l'aurofocus. Je viens d'acheter un Sony FE 90mm macro justement pour voir si ça m'aide avec la macro vidéographie. Je suis en train de faire une video sur le sujet. Cheers! 😀
maybe they have some kind of blind spot and they have to eventually cover the 360 degree of vision. I have another video where it do that even more, but it was drying off, saved from the swimming pool. Did you know that they are the best aerial hunter on the planet? They catch 99% of their prey! They are super insects. 😀
@@leonfisher there is some tricks and tips on RU-vid about that. One RU-vidr say (just 1 example...) that you can do everything in 1080p and when you are done set it back to 4k before rendering. Did you see those sort of videos? That said, it's only since 5 months ago, when I bought a MacBook Pro M3, that I am finally happy with 4k editing. OMG, what a difference, really... I was rendering a 15 min video in 1h30, now I do it in 10-15 min just to give an idea.

Salut Patrick, google me montre des têtes de tripode manfroto. Y'en a une avec une petite manivelle qui permet certainement de garder la tête fixe a un certain angle. C'est ça?

Hi, I m looking for this 100-400 but I m not sure that could be a great inprove from my sigma 18-300 in my canon R10 (with adapter). For you RF lens could be better in 100-300 range?
Ah thank you. That's an easy question. The RF100-300 mm F2.8 L IS USM. Only 9'500 US dollar. 😁 But if you want cheaper, you will have to watch more reviews. The perfect lens don't exist. Some are sharper, some have a better IS, some have a bigger focal length, and some, like your Sigma have a super wide focal range with a reasonable aperture. It all depends on what you do the most and what you need the most. I own only the RF100-400 and the RF100-500 which is actually the best. My best advise is that you watch more and more reviews from Christopher Frost and Dustin Abbott. And if you can, you go in a shop and try/rent if you can. Good luck Enrico! ✌️🙂
I use this lens on my 90D (I´m not a mirrorless person), and It works really well. It's probably one of the best value-for-money lenses you can get for Canon EP-S cameras..

If you have a full frame, you should buy a Laowa for full frame (I think there is an 85 a 100 and maybe others... , but do not buy any of the 2 lenses of my review! And be careful also about the mount. You have to buy a Laowa with a RF mount for EOS R. I know some people who bought the wrong one.
To summarise, you should check all the laowa full frames, 100mm, 85mm, 60mm and 90mm. Check that they are for full frame, and have the mount that can fit your camera. Cheers! 🙂👍
Hello Carnes! This lens is made for aps-c. I don't own any full frame like the R6, but technically it would fit, and "I guess" you will have a strong vignetting. So it's up to you to crop in post or to use crop mode to remove the dark circle. But don't forget to change in the menu the option: shoot without lens. Cheers! 🙂👍
