This camera just spoils you in every single department. An A7 two years ago got me into the menus, the dials, the feel and now with this it just makes great quality images and videos effortlessly. No fuss, and so easy, it's where technology is at for the serious amateur and will probably be adopted by professionals, it's that good!
Hi Pablo, I'm a new subscriber to your channel. Your reviews and work in general is fantastic. I watched your previous videos comparing the 5D mark I to the IV. It inspired me to get the Mark I as my first DSLR to develop my style and learn. A very big thank you for that. Looking forward to seeing your channel grow. Cheers from NYC.
I’m a diehard Canon fan, but I’m lucky enough to use a couple of A7III’s at work, and it really is an awesome camera. I appreciate that Sony’s features push other manufacturers forward...
Hello Pablo I am glad you are still being creative and putting content out there. The Sony A7III is on my shopping list along with the following Panasonic GH5 and GH5s Panasonic S1 Canon 80D Nikon D750 Another Nikon D5500/D5600 Fuji XT3. Four year plan.
I believe it's worth mentioning that you would compensate on the focusing speed if ever you decided to change from Canon to Sony and still wanted to use Canon lenses with an adapter.
Been lucky & shot with the Sony for a few years now, just gone over to the a7rIII & enjoy shooting with it. As a tip 'never shoot it using the older slower sd cards'. Great content Pablo :)
Hi Pablo! Nice video...and a really great location too. I couldn't help but wonder as I was watching; how would the overall look and feel/ colour rendition of these shots compare if shot on Fujifilm X100F?
Pablo's back! I've missed your videos man. I got to spend a day shooting a longboarding event with this camera last summer, and it's autofocus and framerate is pure wizardry compared to my D800 (which I don't have to shoot sports with, thank goodness!) At the end of the day, I still prefer my D800 for slow paced shooting, but the a7 iii is pretty much the perfect all around package. Out of curiosity, would you take the a7 iii over a 5D IV for your daily shooting needs?
I'm a canon guy. I bought A73 two weeks ago unfortunately I returned it. But my honesty opinion. The images both photos and videos that were coming out this camera was insanely good. The dynamic range was amazing. So the reason why I have returned was finding out Sony lens are expensive and using the adapter you lose fast autofocus a little. Will I buy it again? Yes
The video quality in this review is outstanding! It really shows what the A7III can do. Do you mind telling us what video settings you used for this video?
The review is on point but A7iii is quite expensive for beginners haha, I was thinking of getting A6400, it is meant for vloggers but I mainly want to take portraits with it and there has not been a proper review of this camera on the stills side. Would it be possible for you to review the A6400 like you did with the A7iii? Thanks
I bought a sony a7iii a couple of days ago coming from a Panasonic G81 MFT camera. No need to explain how big of an improvement that was, I guess :) I am both into video and stills, although I have not yet had the chance to test out much of the video capabilities. For the stills, I am awed by the quality of the lenses, even the standard 28-70 f/3.5-5.6 lense that came with the camera, but especially the Sony 85 f/1.8 and also the Zeiss Batis 25 f/2. Can't wait to get out into the world and shoot on this hopefully sunny weekend.
Great shooting and location. I saw that someone is using this as an action cam. I never imagined using an expensive cam as that but the action cams I bought (GO Hero 7 Black and Insta 360 X) both don't meet my quality standards. And by the time I've spent money on accessories, etc. I may as well have spent money on one solid camera. I also have a Canon Mark II from 2008 that collects dust and is too big to use as an action cam.
Oooooo abandoned places creep me out! Love the photos that others take of them because of the untold stories I imagine, but I would be afraid to step inside to get the photos myself because any kind of creature could jump out and have me on the ceiling like a scared cat. 😯 Now about that Sony A7iii, I have been wanting one since it was released. 😍 But it's on the someday list for now. Glad to see you back in my sub feed.😀 Hope all is well with you and the family.
I'm wanting to make the move from a Nikon d7200 (crop sensor) to Full Frame, and i figure that Mirrorless is the future. The A7iii is probably the front runner in my choice of camera. I do have some concerns though. - How did you feel about the weather sealing? - How did you find the EVF & the screen? I've heard their not that great. I'm kind of conserned about the overall ruggedness of the camera as I want to shoot at the beach, in a rain forrest, waterfalls or portraits on a rainy street at night. - Which adapter would you recommend for Nikon f mount glass, I've heard that none of the adapters are that good? Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Sorry for the long essay. Hi from Australia
Buck Rodgers hi, just recently went towards Sony A7iii myself coming from having (and still own) canon 60,70 and 80D. Also donated my T4i. To help answer some of your questions... - weather sealing feels solid but I never test those theories with any camera if I can help it. 🤑 - I personally like the evf and screen. Remember, coming from using pentaprism and lcd touch screen, the A7iii seems really good enough. -ruggedness wise..feels like a tank..has a solid tough feel. I also have a battery grip as I have heard complaints about the pinky finger hanging off and it is true, not to the point of annoyance for me, but having that grip gives it that extra body to hold. - adapter wise..I cannot speak for the Nikon line of lens but I use the sigma mc11 and love it. But it does come with a caveat. I have the sigma 18-35mm and it works flawless with the mc11 on the a7iii...as if it was a native Sony lens for both video and stills. But with my canon glass, they work ok for stills but sucks for video. But then again, I have mainly been a manual pull focus type videographer. Hope my personal perspectives help but I am sure others may have a different or similar experience and opinion to share. Cheers.
@@GarCorStudio Thank you so much for your words of advice. I really appreciate them. You've got me pretty much sorted on my choice of camera. Just got to put a lens on the credit card, would hate to have a body and not be able to use it. I'm thinking the 24-70 f2.8......to start with. Oh what a slippery slope this could be😂
@@buckrodgers2303 😂...but ooohhhh, such a fun and wonderful slippery slope. I have two Tamron lens.. a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm full frame for the canon. But I also have two Rokinon cinema lens... an 85mm and a 35mm. Those are my favorites. Buttery bokeh for days. Also canon native lens, 50mm stm, 40mm stm, 18-135mm atm and an apsc zoom. Talk about slippery slope. 🙈
@@GarCorStudio I'm currently shooting a Nikon d7200 (crop sensor), with a Sigma 10-20mm f3.5, a Tamron 24-70mm f2.8, a Tamron 70-200 f2.8 and a good ol' Nikon Nifty Fifty 1.8. The thought of replacing all those lenses fills me with horror😱
Buck Rodgers I totally understand. Humble suggestion.... look into these three adapters for the Sony to Nikon mount: - Viltrox NF-E1 - Commlite v6 - Vello LAE-SE-NF I heard the commlite is only good now because of the update to version 6 so make sure it is the updated version. It is also a bit more on the costly side. Viltrox is 50/50 in terms of reviews.
Here he is! Feels like ages since your last video. I know it takes a great deal of time and effort to put these videos together for us but we really appreciate it. I’d love to see more. Do you still have the x100 t ?
Hey man, I’ve been working a lot and have finally saved up for a new camera. I need to get one that’s not actually bad and will last me. I would like to make a movie in college with it along with work I do in the Realestate area. Would you recommend this camera for that? Thanks much!
If you need something to last and possibly have resale value then lenses are the way to go, I would buy a Fuji xt-3 with a couple of lenses as that camera is also amazing for video!
Hi,thanks for the review. Really interesting! I've sold my Sony A6300 and I don't know whether to buy a Sony A6400 or an A7iii. If you had to recommend me a wide angle prime lens (24-35 mm) for shooting with the A7iii(I want to travel as light as possible),which lens would you recommend me?Bye!
Great location and incredible shots. Your findings support my own experience the the a7III. Well presented and a spectacular, fully loaded camera. But jumping’ geezus, that backing soundtrack makes me nauseous and I had to turn it down. This location is odd and creepy enough all on its own, it didn’t need an off key, wobbly sound track that resembles a way over compressed mp3. Lol.But hey, other than that, I love the review, love the camera and your location was stellar!! Where is that? (As if you would let that information out! Hahaha) Well done!!
I bet the wobbly soundtrack is intentional to give it that LoFi feel. Just my observation from also working in music production as well. Check out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fF44wvQRwCk.html for more soundtrack material.
Joshua Caron, it’s absolutely intentional and it does link to the location. But (personally) I find it really difficult to listen to because it’s so odd. I end up focusing on that annoying audio wobble than focusing on the location. It’s a conflict and an unnecessary battle for attention. But hey, that’s just me. The location is creepy and very cool. I want to go there. :-)
Joshua Caron, get out there and buy one. Sell whatever you’re not using. I have the a7III and really like it. Is it perfect? No camera is, but it does a fantastic job! The problem is, the camera is the cheapest part. It’s the lenses that add up. But, there are options and that helps a lot.
I still have my old 70D and some Tamron/EF mount lenses. But they are going up for sale this weekend. I need a second Sony camera for other types of shots. I’m thinking I may get the a6400 for several reasons. It’s small and easy to run out the door with, and also travel with... and it’s ideal for my Gimbal. I can use the a7III for those reasons but there are advantages to a crop camera that help compliment a full frame.
If you don't already have Canon glass then I would get the A7III if you don't mind the ergonomics. It has more unadapted glass, a better sensor, better 4k, and IBIS.
X-T3 is better hands down. And that's before the 600 dollar price difference. Then we can talk lenses and lens prices. It's really not even a comparison.
I shot Sony for portraiture for a year A7ii & A6k I have never had so many problems with any system that I did with Sony!. I like the looks of the A7iii but I remind myself of grinding my knuckles on the 24-70 F4, the horrid sensor for the EVF spazzing out on different shirts. The A6k would drain to 86% if you charge it for a job & not remove the battery, icing on the cake was repairs services what a fking joke!. 🤬
I could tell from the beginning that this was an advert of the A7III. Might've been a bit less obvious if you shared your settings for the shots you showed; or even tried a rival brand at the same time, comparing the findings by showing side-by-sides (Missed opportunity by your sponsor methinks) Question: Was this footage shot on an A7III also? I kind of assumed it was, but would be nice to know. As a hybrid shooter, could you give us an idea how much more you think the A7III, fared in that location, over the competition cameras that you've used in the past?… Thanks
With so many camera companies, there are many great options. If I were starting from scratch today I would probably go with a Sony. I am too heavily invested in my Nikon system, and Fuji at the moment. Having said this selling both systems to replace them with one system (mirrorless and full frame) is an attractive option.
The best camera of the year is the one you use the most regardless of brand. Sadly to many people keep great cameras in their bags gathering dust all year and that basically makes that camera mean nothing.
Depends. With an 80d you can enjoy a lot of cheap glas: www.dpreview.com/opinion/2075375377/sigma-has-done-more-for-enthusiast-aps-c-than-nikon-canon-and-sony-combined If you use to shoot with a tripod on base iso, I don't think the difference is big. If you shoot handheld in low light, go for a7III. Besides, in my opinion, RAW-files from Canon are best fit for Lightroom, while Sony RAW-files are best fit for Capture One. So it depends on which software you prefer too. I'm going for Capture One with my a7III, I'm preparing a switch very soon.
No I dont think its the best camera. Its a great camera but its just missing something special to its images. For shooting a place like this i'd go for a smaller fuji type camera and for portraits i'd go for canon. I think sony excels in wedding photography where you would need the hybrid ability paired with ibis when you need to lower the shutter for lowlight.
