Hey everyone! So much I wanted to get to in this video that just didn’t make the cut! The off angle viewing is worth talking about, the sound quality was also impressive. More high frame rate gaming needs to be tested. What else do you want to hear about in the follow up review? Reply here!
@samuelgalindo46

Definitely more XSX|S and PS5 gaming performance testing - especially with VRR enabled (whenever PS5 VRR update goes live). Hoping your initial findings of no noticeable ABL continues. 2021 Sony OLEDS really suffered from it due to there not being a way to disable the static imaging ABL like LG offers.

If you want an OLED TV in 83 inches, should you get the A90J on discount or wait for the A95K to come in larger size. Another words, can you compare the A90J vs A95 K?

You are 100% correct! I purchased the 65” for my LR, and after watching for a week, I rushed right down to get a second 55” for the bedroom. The anti reflective coating works exceptionally well, even when the shades directly facing the screen are open. It was like going from an old tube set to the first 4K flat screen. The details in the grays and blacks are now visible. You hit the nail when you said that you’ve never seen that many different colors before. I have nothing bad to say about this television. I also like how functions can be accessed in more than one way, making operation a breeze.

I currently have a 55 inch Bravia X90J in my family room in my apartment.. thinking of going with the 65 inch version of thus tv in the next 3-4 months and moving 55 to the bedroom. Or if budgets tight by then the 65 X95K or 55 inch version of this. You recommend the 55 or 65 of this?

This TV was purchased to replace an aging Sony XBR-65X900A, which was purchased 10 years ago. The sound on the A95K is as good or better than the old TV with the big built in speakers on the sides of the screen, and at the time the XBR had the best sound of any flat screen TV I had the opportunity of auditioning, which was a huge selling point. Every day I am still amazed as to how good this picture looks when compared with other televisions.

It arrived a few days later at 9:30am and a friend came over and we had it hung on my wall by noon. My dad and I are amazed how great it looks straight out of the box. So happy to see a review so quickly. My only issue with the TV is only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports. And since one is the eARC port, so if you have a sound bar/receiver you only have 1. Sony needs to start having all ports as 2.1. For the price that this TV will cost, that is not an unreasonable request.

I never really got that Earc thing. Do you plug your sound bar into the EARC HDMI port?
@flounderinoflounder5425
@flounderinoflounder5425 2 года назад
@@GamingWithAce85 Yes, the ARC or eARC port is a way to have your sound from what ever source you are watching to the soundbar/receiver. The main difference is the amount of data that can move through, eARC is capable of passing through Dolby Atmos/DTS-X/3D audio. ARC is limited in the amount of sound channels that can pass through. While you can use an optical cable to free up an HDMI 2.1 slot but you are only able to have 5.1 audio if using an receiver and no 3D audio. If using a a basic soundbar this would work fine but you would be limited to just that. I hope that helps to understand.
@GamingWithAce85

@@GamingWithAce85 That is correct. Now if you are out of HDMI ports on your TV you can use an optical cable. You also have the ability if your soundbar has an HDMI in and out you can plug 1 device into the soundbar and the soundbar to the ARC port on your TV.

Your videos are always EXCELLENT, Caleb - Informative, engaging, and entertaining, with just the right balance between objective measurements and subjective impressions. I'm already quite certain that the Sony A95K QD-OLED is the TV I've been waiting for. Believe it or not I'm still watching a 1080p Plasma TV from 2014 - but it's starting to show its age - and the step-up in panel technology that QD-OLED offers definitely has me convinced that it's the next type of TV I want to buy.

@@richaquila2655 When it comes to technology, I'm definitely a proponent of taking the approach that "if it ain't broke, don't replace it". I feel guilty about discarding electronic components that are still working very well. My plasma TV still displays a beautiful image - really the only improvement I might ask for is that I wish it was capable of 4K resolution. And believe it or not, I earnestly tried to persuade a relative NOT to discard a Sony Trinitron 1080i flat-screen CRT TV that was still working flawlessly after 20 years of perfect service, because it still had EXCELLENT picture quality (but the Trinitron was carted off by Best Buy when an OLED TV was purchased to replace it).

@@marksalamon619 I 100 % agree if it’s not broke don’t fix it . This tv has forgone 4 moves and won’t die but when I bought it 20 years ago it was the best out there and probably is still better than 90 % of the TVs . That’s why I haven’t more forward with another purchase until it see something that will be my next 20 year tv ! I’m not that guy that buys TVs every other year! I’m excited to see in the show room!
@marksalamon619
@marksalamon619 2 года назад
@@richaquila2655 Good for you! Even if you buy a new TV I'm hoping that you will still have room in your home to keep using your Pioneer Plasma. After my sister replaced her Sony Trinitron with an OLED, I had a chance to compare her OLED with my plasma TV. To my eyes the OLED had slightly better picture quality - but the difference was insignificant - so my plasma continues to give me real pleasure. Like you, I am enthusiastic about the introduction of QD-OLED TVs because I think they will show a SUBSTANTIAL improvement in picture quality - better than W-OLED and plasma TVs, both - that will ultimately encourage me to make an investment in a new QD-OLED (which I hope will last me for years and years).

While it undoubtedly has better PQ than most WRGB OLEDs, I'd wait until a version 2, or later, personally. I'm honestly a bit disappointed that LG didn't offer anything like this, yet they insist on the same WRGB OLED tech and 8k, both of which have their expensive pricetags with the latter being especially nonsensical and impractical over something that actually improves on OLED display tech picture quality beyond just doubling the resolution.

My guess is they're trying to find a way to do damage control while not looking stupid, most likely by saturating the market with QD OLED devices and then slipping in their product and erasing all trace of their OLED QLED marketing bashing the tech, similarly to how they did with notches, included chargers, headphone jacks, and micro SD card support on their phones.

This actually makes me worry that the S95B could suffer from decreased panel life. Yes I'm still not sure if I'm going to get the A95K or the S95B. One very important port that the reviewers and the companies have been overlooking since very long is the Ethernet/ Lan port. Till last year even the most premium of Sony OLED TVs had only 100 Mbps ethernet port which is a big limitation. When 1 Gbps ports have been around since more than two decades now and even 10 Gbps are getting common now, limiting the modern TVs to 100 Mbps is ridiculous! Especially when the internet speeds in excess of 500 Mbps are also getting common. Why the reviewers are not addressing this issue and calling out the company for that is beyond me! The obvious limitation is that you face issues while streaming raw 4K content, which is what you would want to watch over a really good TV ironically! So, does this TV finally offer 1 Gbps Ethernet/ Lan port?

As always, I find your reviews highly exhilarating, unbiased and informative. My only gripe with this TV as of now is that with this stand design, there is no way we can place a sound bar in front of the TV without blocking some of the viewing area of the TV and the remote sensor. Sony's earlier stand designs were better as we could choose to either make the TV sit flush on the TV cabinet or raise it so as to accommodate a sound bar without impacting the viewing area and remote sensor. I for one, never wall mount my TV and for this reason alone, will have to give this TV a pass. I think you should have called it out in your review as Dolby Atmos sound bars are an integral part of almost all AV enthusiasts these days regardless of however good the speakers of such TVs are.

Would consider the 55" model which I would use for playing games on my PC, streaming movies and all other tasks on PC. High refresh (120Hz+), VRR G-sync and ultra low latency (and no ghosting) are essential requirements, as is the quality and brightness of the TV. My underlying main worry is that of the Elephant in the room of screen burn and how that stands with this new 55" A95K QD-LED TV. Other considerations are the new upcoming Samsung Neo QN90B Neo 4K Quantum Dot TV which would not suffer screen burn. Interestingly with this model, the two smallest sizes at 43" and 50" have a slightly higher refresh rate of 144Hz and fitted with a faster response Pro version of motion technology in which these two smaller sizes (43" and 50") are better for gaming. The Samsung model above is stated to have a higher/better refresh rate for gaming, where as the Sony model above would have the best picture quality at a slightly lower refresh and but with the concern of possible OLED screen burn, if the latter would still be an issue. Would love to know for sure if screen burn has been improved on the A95K.

Are you aware the AW3423DW exists? 3440x1440, 175hz monitor with a QD OLED panel, and most importantly, a 3 year warranty covering burn in. Grabbed one myself. Great monitor. Much more reasonable than a 55 inch TV lol.

@@soulshot96 it’s also smaller and won’t work in group settings if you want to watch a movie with more than one person.

@@RemixerUltimate which wasn't in OP's list of considerations.

This review makes me really excited to be an early adopter of QD OLED. We still have the 55” Samsung LED in our liv rm. I went nuts for the LG OLED 65” back in 2016 and regret it . That tv never talks nice to the Apple TV . Repeated issues with playback of Amazon and hulu streaming .. we’ve tried buying new cables, HDMI , had the receiver replaced .. still every once in awhile .. wont allow playback (HDCP error , check your hdmi ) ..it also looks horrible when Netflix, Hulu , Amazon stream content has a scene that’s all black .. I know, blacks were supposed to BE THE POINT of an oled. Apparently according to LG service , some scenes don’t appear true black when streaming ..to me it looks like flickering grey clouds that fade in and out . Hate that tv so much ! This Sony should dissolve all those issues . Great work 🙏

Looking forward for this to become more affordable. I think that 4K while not insanely expensive, is a lot to ask for a lot of people. Especially when you can get a current ten oled for under half the price. And we all know this won’t be 2x better. I wonder if the burn in risk is actually eliminated now

Burn in can't be eliminated until mini led is viable. So oleds have burn in issues and leds have backlight issues

Not eliminated but reduced.
