The new Bravia 7 appears to have changed the fiber optic (Digital Audio Out) connection on the back of the TV from the traditional S/PDIF or TOSLINK connection to the lessor-known mini-fiber optic version of that same connector. I only point this out as it appears to be a change that many consumers likely weren't expecting to see. I would hazard a guess here that most consumers aren't aware yet that such a thing as a mini-fiber-optic connection even exists. For those connecting up a Bravia 7 to an older sound bar or receiver over fiber optic, this is going to be a potentially important change for them to be aware of. (I did see that the Bravia 3 appears to still use the traditional, full-sized TOSLINK jack though) Is this actually the case and, if so, can you speak to why Sony would have elected to make this change on this model? Is there an advantage to going with a mini-fiber optic connection over the traditional fiber optic jack that has been found on nearly every TV for the past two decades? If so, what would that be?
