Ordered the A1 coming from a 1DX II, still patiently waiting on it to arrive! So stoked.

Glad you got yours. I ordered mine on February 4th with a predicted shipping date of March 4th. That date was changed to March 9th. Not bad, right? I can live with that. So on March 5th I ordered over $7,000 of lenses and other equipment in an attempt to get them delivered around the same time as my Alpha One. So what happens literally a day or two after ordering all that equipment? The shipping date of the Alpha One has become unknown. Great. So I might be stuck with all of the equipment, with no way to test them, if the Alpha One doesn’t arrive for another month plus. Not the Sony start I was hoping for. (I made a brand switch). Yeah, I know. I “could have” waited on the equipment purchases but sometimes you gotta take a gamble. I saved a few hundred dollars on some of the equipment due to a sale that ended on the 7th. So I pulled the trigger. Now I’m antsy to press the shutter release. Hope to hear something from Sony but so far I see no updates anywhere.

DUDE! that's how you make a switch, just cannonball right into the pool. Welcome to sony land, if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask, I've been fumbling my way around with all the way back to the original sony rx1, which made me switch from canon, so ive been there.

You have enough Sony equipment to qualify for their Sony Pro Support program. One of the benefits of joining that program is that whenever Sony releases new gear they give members the option to "fast track" their purchase (if you buy from an authorized Sony dealer).

Sorry for two posts but just wanted to add that I’m the type who prefers a beefier, larger body on “flagship” models. I want that sucker STOUT! I wonder what the camera makers could do if they made the bodies larger? I bet overheating issues would at least be resolved. Not that it’s a big problem anymore.

enter the Nikon z9 :)

I kinda agree with you here. Sony could have used the a1 launch as an excuse to create a slightly beefier camera aesthetic. As much as I like the current alpha series and how small they are, I would have been a fan of a more robust flagship body.

Sir, I recently came to know about the possibility of using "dummy battery + power bank"and hence achieving super long battery life.. but I am struggling to find the right product.. can you please help me?? battery exhausted message is killing me.. (sony a6000 user)
@movetomirrorless
@movetomirrorless Год назад
I've never tried that on a Sony a6000. I am not sure the older alpha cameras can get power through USB, but I know the newer alpha series mirrorless cameras are able to do that, just by connecting a battery pack to the USB-C port. For an a6000, my suggestion is using a dummy battery that can connect to a V-Mount battery via a D-TAP cable.

Yes, as in night time street photography. No one wants to do that. Everyone on social media just posts pictures of the camera and bloody birds.

Honest dude. Legit let down by the case and didn't edit that out haha. Don't worry, there will be plenty of accessories. Critique - this video should be in 4K!

Not knowing how you shoot , why did you fill you had to buy this $6500 camera and how would this make your work flow better then the a92 that you already have. I can't think of a single scenario where I need the a1 over the a92 especially with those file sizes sounds like a nightmare in the editing room just my opinion .

Such a good question. That's exactly what I had to ask myself. My photography business has evolved so much in the last 5 years. I went from just shooting weddings and portraits. Now I have a really diverse mix of client work. Most of my weddings now require hybrid coverage, I have to shoot both stills and video. I also had an uptick in commercial work, with both stills and video as well. So I had mainly 2 problems. I really needed a good video camera with all the video features, a fast focusing, silent camera for stills, and then a hi-megapixel count for my commercial work. The a9 was almost perfect, but Sony unfortunately did not include any of the video-centric features that were available to the lower-priced a7III (which I had to buy just because of this). In short, the a1 really does check off all of my needs in one camera body. It stinks that it costs so much. The work flow issues that the 50 MP Raw images is now something I have to deal with. Honestly, I've been spending today shooting JPEGs to see if I need to switch my workflow to a JPEG one for weddings & portraits. Then I can shoot RAWs only for my commercial work. I do wish that Sony included a medium-RAW option. This is the one Achilles heel of the a1. That one feature would have solved all of my problems and I would have no issues buying two of these cameras without hesitation. Hope that answers your question.

@@movetomirrorlessthanks for the honest response. I personally stop shooting raw files for the most part took to much of the fun out of shooting when your in Front of a computer for hours editing photos let's not even mention video editing . Most my photos I might do a lil exposure editing but not much else I do a lot of running gun shooting. With these modern cameras there pretty smart . And to be perfectly honest most clients wouldn't know the difference between a raw file that's been edited or a jpeg it's all about the composition good luck with your new camera the A1 is a beast

If I could chime in, the fact that A1 can do the work of A7SIII, A9II, and A7RIV really well it's 3 cameras in one bag. The price is steep but heck, people buy a 400 horse power car for no reason at all other than just to have it. I definitely want the A1.

@@sosomelodies659 yes you want sure ....but do you need it 🤔🤔 Sony just started a flex camera war that nobody asked for 😉

totally agree. portrait & wedding clients and most of my commercial clients want JPEG delivery. There are only a handful of commercial clients that insist on RAW delivery because they have their own editors. In the 15+ years of doing client work, I am seriously considering shooting JPEG from now on, minus the few exceptions here and there. Also, one more confession, with my video clients, I don't even deliver in 4K. So far all of them have wanted only HD, so I don't even shoot 4K in 90% of my video work, let alone 8K! So, the a1 is in some parts a lot more than what I need. But the speed, silent shooting, all the video options that I need (that the a9 doesn't have), and the ability to shoot in both aps-c and full frame, new color options -- that's what got me.
