"Time will tell"... Why not make the video after some time, and then tell... What's the value in these kind of videos, I really don't get it. Once you have unboxed the item, use it for a bit, vouch for its quality or report its shortcomings and speak from a position of knowledge, that would add value and help inform your audience. You owe me 8 minutes!

You had my interest until you said only Sony. I’ve shot Canon pro gear since 1990 so lots of very high quality lenses typically sharper than the vast majority of Sonys. Think an R5 and R3 takes some beating. Add a 50mm f1.2 and my goodness….what more would you need…. I guess for newcomers Sony is slightly better priced and maybe a bit faster on focus at the very top level. So how come the majority of pros still use Canon? Maybe the UI is ‘simply the best’…..easy but versatile.

Why do some of the square hoods have vent cutout in them???
@movetomirrorless
@movetomirrorless 15 дней назад
the cutout is for the optical viewfinder, so you can see through the hood, since it blocks your view. If you switch to the electronic VF, then the hood blockage is not an issue. hopefully that makes sense.

For anyone wondering: you can blow up a correctly taken 10 megapixel image well larger than you need. Poster size, and definitely large photo book size. For example a popular 00s DSLR like the Canon 20D was 8 Megapixels and would print large format successfully. 🫡

Why not just crop into the stock lense?
@movetomirrorless
@movetomirrorless 19 дней назад
yes, you can do that, but you'll lose resolution. if you want to keep the 40mp then the only option is to use the tele-conversion lens. and if you do, you'll still have the option of cropping in even more if you want to get to 75mm or 100mm equivalent.

@movetomirrorless
@movetomirrorless 29 дней назад
GOOD question. the main thing with light quality is this, if you want soft light, you'll have to diffuse it or alter it somehow... flashes by default are usually harsh sources of light. so if you are ok with that, you can just hand-hold the flash (which I sometimes do, if I don';t want to carry a light stand). this will still get it off the camera, you're just limited on how far you can hand hold the flash, then that introduces another problem. how long do you really want to hold the flash? it totally depends on what type of shoot you are doing.
@dzeng
@dzeng 29 дней назад
@@movetomirrorless i don’t mind holding the flash but bringing a decent size soft box and setting it up is a buzz kill.

@@dzeng agreed. you what though, it did help that I Brought along a savage drop stand, instead of a regular light stand. if you haven't seen those, they're light stands where the legs collapse inwards when you pick it up from the ground and then drops down and away from the stand when you put it down. it saved me time when setting up.

I like this video becaude it validates the use of these converters, the whole reason I want this camera is the compact size, but theres also these converters that allow you the versatility of different focal lengths, I don't want an XT-5 with a 23mm, it feels too bulky, I want the 23mm of the X100VI and sometimes I'll change it up, but nothing is as compact as the X100VI with it's normal lens

Not being funny maybe you should try other brands. The Sony a7v is 3500 hundred and has a crop the Canon R8 has 4K 60 no crop and is 1200 dollars. And if you are in to video heavy the S5ii vs the Zv1 no comparison you can get a 2 lens kit full frame shutter angle 6K open gate for less than 2200. The A7iv is a hard camera to beat
@movetomirrorless
@movetomirrorless Месяц назад
That’s a totally fair point and I halfway agree with you. that would actually make for a fun video to compare all the brands, but would be way too time consuming at least for me. The reason I stuck with Sony on this video, other than thats what I shoot with, is because they’ve got more time invested in the mirrorless game. They have so many lenses now for every any budget. I think that’s where you actually invest more of your money in the long run, the lenses. I should’ve highlighted that a bit more in the video. I used to shoot canon. They just took forever to get into mirrorlessand their lenses are so darn expensive. I feel like I can’t speak about Linux because I’ve never even touched their cameras. Fuji, I just barely got into that. Nikon, who’s that? Lol. Anyways thanks for suggestions I appreciate it.

Out of curiosity. At any point did you ever use the 50mm(equivalent) TCL in combination with a crop mode to simulate an 85mm(75mm). Mainly just seeing if you risked a 75mm shot at 20megapixels or if it would be better to shoot a 40megapixel 50mm equivalent photo and crop later in post
@movetomirrorless
@movetomirrorless Месяц назад
I actually did that for the ceremony. Thing is, the digital crop only affects the JPEG and not the RAW. Since I short this wedding in RAW+JPEG I had to redo the crop on the RAWs when I processed them in adobe Lightroom.

Tomorrow I'm going to photograph a wedding for one of my wife's nephews and I'm going to take my X100VI and Canon R6 with the 24,35,50 primes and the 70-200 2.8. I don't think I'll even touch the Canon 🙄. I'm just an enthusiast when it comes to "paid" work, but a professional in real estate (I own a real estate company and I insist on being the one to photograph my properties). They asked me to photograph the wedding and it will be my gift! They will have a professional videographer and I will be the photographer, because at family gatherings everyone loves my photos! By the way, a tip..., try the Portra 400 "recipe" and Reggie's Portra..., you'll love it! With Fujifilm I only shoot in Jpeg and with Canon in RAW. As for Canon, I used it for the Golden Hour photos with the 70-200 2.8 and I ended up buying the Presets from Manstin Labs and I'm using the Kodak Gold, which has an identical vibe...! It gives me a lot of pleasure doing this work and offering this gift to my Nephews by Affinity! Thank you very much for your attention in asking and worrying...! If you look at the sample shots with TCL compared to the standard lens, there's a slight change in bokeh character, I think it's not the same thing that would get if it was a true 50mm f/2, but it's definitely different than the native 35mm f/2 bokeh, kind of a half way solution, I think.
