I agree with you Markus to an extent. I couldn’t really take it out of the shop with so many people waiting behind me to look at the camera so I thought the next best thing was to test it with mixed lighting conditions on auto white balance. I knew I was not gonna get to do a detailed look at it. And Realistically I don’t think we will learn anything new that other RU-vidrs haven’t already found out filming with it. There’s plenty of test footage out there from other people in the outdoors. My question was how does S-Cinetone look in less than ideal indoor lighting. That’s a situation that I come up against all the time.
Double check was exposed better the second time around. What change did you make? Shutter speed or aperture? Focus looked better too so I’m gonna guess aperture.
Yeah, rookie mistake using Cinetone, I'm quite used to S-Log. I've played with it more since the a7Siii update came out and I found exactly what you've pointed out. you have to expose for the highlights. it's not as forgiving as S-Log, but I've PP11 to be better than having PP off. Skin tones look pretty good out of the bat and doesn't look overly video-ish and not over-saturated.
Yep, but it wasn't necessarily the best scenario to test that. I would have shoot in a scene with high contrast, like if he were backlit or a sidelight with the sun -- outdoors, like someone else mentioned. The only thing I can judge S-Cinetone on with this clip is the skin tones. My opinion is that skin tones look better straight out of the camera than with any of the previously built in Sony color profiles.
The pictures look washed out or poorly exposed.Its fascinating to the sheer number of YouTUBE photo channels that contain very mediocre pictures.Happens a lot.
